Story
Want a dog that will be absolutely obsessed with you? Adores humans? Will give you unconditional love and hugs? Meet Mikka! At 3 years old and 40 lbs she's a spunky Border Collie mix. This girl loves life with people! Here are her simple pleasures: - Being with people - Going on car rides - Going on walk - Her favorite ball and fetch Mikka is super smart and catches on to new things quickly, that's the collie in her! She knows: - Sit - Down - Shake - Wait (to eat and to get out of the crate) - Crate up Her flaws (only a few): - Would be best as an only dog - Is a bit on the active side - Gets nervous with kids under 10 Mikka is very dog selective. Her unknown past has taught her she needs to do the getting before they get her. Because she is so well mannered she's not reactive as long as the dogs don't come up to her. This means you can still enjoy calm walks without her barking or lunging. She'd thrive the most as an only child. As long as she gets regular walks she can thrive in any environment. Kids quick unexpected movements makes me nervous so I cling to the humans I know and try to get away from the tiny humans. Mikka is a very sweet girl that wouldn't hurt a human fly and would be a great companion, she will love you with all her heart. To adopt Mikka, please apply at www.htxdogrescue.org.

Story
UNTIED FROM A TREE TO UNLEASH HER LOVE AND DEVOTION  DOB 4/1/21, weight 54# Hey there, everyone! I’m Isha, a very sweet, outgoing, and eager-to-please black Border Collie/ shepherd mix gal with a white dot on my chest who socializes with everyone – adults, kids, and medium/ large dogs as well as cats and small dogs as long as we’re properly introduced. From my outward appearance, it looks like my canine heritage has been herding sheep, and although I haven’t found any sheep in Houston, I have inherited the shepherdess’ intelligence, intense loyalty, devotion to duty, and untiring work ethic. I humbly believe that those four qualities make me the perfect canine companion! My previous owners kept me in their yard, tied to a tree where my friendly energy was suppressed. I was miserable, but thank heavens, the gardener noticed my plight and convinced my owner to surrender me to HOPE because they could find a family who would provide me a more enriched life. I’m so much happier interacting with all the people, dogs, and cats in my foster home as well as whom I meet on my daily walks! I’m proud to say that leash-training, housetraining, and kennel-training were all a snap. (Remember I told you that I’m very intelligent – just give me a job to do!) Now I’m ready to bring my sweet affection, lithe agility, and intrinsic devotion to bless my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today! I’m eager to be your perfect canine chum and to enrich your life as well as mine! HOPE ID D26-0325-0017 Isha’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. To apply online:http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site that Isha will be this weekend, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you May 27, 2026, 12:13 pm

Story
SO OBEDIENT DESPITE STILL BEING A PUPPY  11/10/25, weight 38 lb. A gentle, sweet, docile girl, Willow is playful and rather obedient for a Border Collie/ Lab mix who's still just a puppy. Willow and her sister Meadow were found in her foster mom’s neighborhood dodging traffic, trying not to get hit by a car.  Another sister wasn’t so fortunate, but these two girls were lucky because several people in the neighborhood came together to make sure they were rescued and got the vet care they needed. Willow loves food, stuffed toys, and chews, and she adores playing with her sister, Meadow.  Willow is perfecting her leash skills and is learning to fetch. She knows “come” and “sit” and knows how to use the doggie door.  She barks to alert her foster mom, allows her nails to be trimmed without any issues, and is not afraid of thunder or rain.  Willow's ideal home would have another canine, perhaps a big brother who needs a little sister, a yard to romp in, a doggy door, and maybe some kids to grow up with. HOPE ID 26-0313-0015 Willow’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. Story
A JOY TO HAVE AROUND DOB 11/10/25, weight 35# A happy-go-lucky girl, Meadow is a joy to have around.  She loves all people and playing with other dogs.  She is very food driven, loves toys, (especially plushy/ squeaky toys) and she adores playing with her sister, Willow. She is sweet, rather obedient for a young puppy, and loves to fetch and bring back her ball. Meadow and her sister Willow were found in her foster mom’s neighborhood dodging traffic, trying not to get hit by a car.  Their sister wasn’t so fortunate, but these two girls were lucky because several people in the neighborhood came together to make sure they were rescued and got the vet care they needed. Meadow is working on her leash manners and her potty training.  She knows “come” and “sit” as well as how to use the doggie door, and she is quite submissive with other dogs. She alerts her foster mom to the delivery person by barking but only when necessary, and she does not seem afraid of thunder nor rain.   Meadow's ideal home would have another canine, perhaps a big brother who needs a little sister, a yard to romp in, a doggy door, and maybe some kids to grow up with. HOPE ID 26-0313-0016 Meadow’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. Story
Meet Bam Bam, a young, vibrant soul wishing for a home where he can really spread his wings. He was given up because he was not suitable to living in an apartment and needs a house with a fenced yard so he can explore and burn energy as his foster saw. His days are filled with bursts of energy, showcasing his curiosity and confident spirit. He weighs 59 pounds and likes agility, fetch, running, tugging, toys, water, chase and especially long walks where he can lead the way. He knows the sit, stay, come and no commands but is still working on house training so please be patient with him. He needs to be let outside right after eating to avoid accidents inside the house. He is used to sleeping in his bed in the main bedroom and likes to keep an eye on his humans even while exploring the yard. Always curious, Bam Bam loves exploring every nook, making him quite the nosy companion. He`s not just about fun and games; his protective nature makes him a great watchdog. Despite his jumpy and noisy demeanor, Bam Bam is a true cuddler at heart, always ready to snuggle into a lap. He might chew a bit, so hard rubber Kong toys and chew bones keep him busy. He`s a social butterfly, thriving in lively environments. He loves interacting with other dogs and shows an easygoing curiosity towards cats. He comes alive in the company of dogs and adjusts very well to the other dog`s playstyle. With children, he`s always friendly but a bit jumpy so he`ll need to live with kids at least nine years old. Bam Bam is smart, goofy, affectionate and loyal, and will make a wonderful companion for a patient and active family. Adopt Bam Bam for a lifetime of adventure and affection. Please contact his foster, Ram at CAPdogfoster@gmail.com for more details.
