Ginny is a very sweet girl. She was at a shelter and was a having a tough a time getting acclimated and was sadly getting close to euthanasia. After spending sometime with her and bringing my family around her we realized she just needed another chance. Ginny loves to play and loves her cuddles. She loves to be a part of your day. My wife says she just follows her around and loves to put her head or her lap anytime she can. She listens very well and has had some time around other dogs as well as cats. She does well with both. She shows interest in the cats but nothing more than a look. As for other dogs she loves to play and be part of the action. She sleeps with my daughter every night and does excellent with our 2 children. Another example of a dog put into 23 hours a day of isolation that just needed a chance. I adopted Ginny with the mindset of saving her life and finding her a forever home. Which she greatly deserves!!

Jojo is being fostered in Illinois. Has some vision.Hi. My name is Jojo. I am a 4-year-old boxer mix. I like to think of myself as a playful happy-go-lucky gal. I may not see you well because close objects are like shadows and a little blurry to me, but I know you are there. I get along well with all the cats and dogs in my foster home. I like cats (see https://youtu.be/t_3b0r0n9LY ). But I may need slow introductions with little feisty dogs. But I would love to go to a home that has many friendly 4-legged buddies.I like to be active and meet people and other dogs (see https://youtu.be/9LG4Cy9_kJI ). However, I am not too good with children because a lot of time kids either approach me too fast or gather around me, which makes me so scared that I have to give a warning snap. But I do love my walks. Even more, I love an open field that I can have all to myself so I can let out a lot of my energy (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nWkm8OssZU ). At home, I like to relax and sit at my spot while my foster daddy is doing his work. Everyday, I get to be petted and it makes me feel loved (see https://youtu.be/Y_-7FDicj-M ).I am housebroken. However, every once in a while, I have accidents because anxiety gets the best of me when I realize my foster dad has not been home for a while. I will do well in a home where someone is present 90-95 percent of time, perhaps with someone who works out of home or is an active retired person.Blind Dog Rescue has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Meet Picasso, the handsome brindle pitbull mix. Picasso arrived to the Shelter as a stray so we don’t know about his life before the Shelter. It took a few days for Picasso to warm up but slowly, but surely – he started to befriend staff members. He went from quiet and reserve to more engaging – galloping around the exercise yards and even sometimes sitting on a chair on his own. Picasso has met some dogs at the Shelter and greets in a fairly forward manner. He is interested in interacting but sometimes his hormones get the best of him (resulting in some humping). Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Picasso may not be every dog’s cup of tea due to the mounting behavior. Adopters should avoid high traffic dog areas and prioritize decompression after adoption before Picasso meets a bunch of new pups. We do not have any history of Picasso with children or other animals. Picasso is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. Picasso`s adoption has been sponsored by a generous donor!The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Here is the low-down on this girl:-Relaxed when left alone free roam in the house while foster parents work full time-Potty trained-LOVES to cuddle on the couch-Great on car rides-Enjoys walks but a bit strong on leash-Enjoys playing with toys-Would do best in a home without small animals (cats, rabbits, etc)-In foster w/ a male dog around her size. Can be selective with her dog friends (prefers quality over quantity). Any resident dogs to meet prior to adoption. Dovey’s adoption fee is sponsored thanks to the Silver Whisker’s Society – a fund aiming to get often overlooked seniors out of the Shelter. I had a ruff start – rescued from a kill shelter, emaciated and pregnant. But, that's all in the past now, and all I want is a bright future filled with love.
