Story
Hello everyone, I rescued Bacon from a high-kill shelter in LA where he was on the euthanasia list. Unfortunately, after 2 weeks of getting him, I discovered I’m severely allergic to him and would like to find him a new, loving forever home. Bacon is an incredibly loyal, gentle, loving soul ever. He is super friendly and loves cuddles. He would be a little bit shy at strangers first but warm up quickly. He enjoys belly rubs and going for walks but he’s also happy to snuggle on the couch. He’s always by your side and will be your shadow. You will never feel alone because he’ll stick to you like glue and always wants to be touching you in some small way at least. He knows basic commands such as Sit, Leave in, his name, Stay, break,... He’s also calm and not leash-reactive, but still needs more structure since he gets distracted easily. We’re working on his separation anxiety and he should be crate-trained until becoming familiar with the new house. He still needs to be potty trained.

Story
We rescued Jax 4 years ago, and he's become a beloved member of our family that we are heartbroken to have to re-home due to new jobs with travel and commutes. Jax is a nearly 7 year old boxer mix... a 70 pound dog who would love to sit in your lap and give lots of sloppy kisses if you let him! Jax is a sweetheart, whether curled at your feet in the family room, playing keep-away with the kids, or running with his doggie friends around the backyard. Jax's main challenge is separation anxiety: He spent over a year in the shelters after being abandoned by his previous family, and still suffers from anxiety if left alone at home. We've worked with him to gradually build up to being at home for an hour, or with another dog, but haven't been able to be consistent in his training in this area. The perfect home for Jax will have a large enclosed yard, one or more doggie companions, and loving humans around him! $50 donation to your local shelter required.

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:1Carmen is a beach-loving explorer with a heart as big as the ocean! She recently aced her beach outing, enjoying the breeze and sniffing out new scents with ease. Carmen navigated the car ride like a pro and remained calm even when faced with unexpected scooter encounters. This engaging and affectionate pup leans in for scritches and responds eagerly to commands. She's treat-motivated and enjoys gentle interactions, making her a joy to be around. Whether she’s gazing back at you with those soulful eyes or sitting patiently for some well-deserved head pets, Carmen’s devotion knows no bounds. Carmen thrives in a home with experienced owners who can continue positive reinforcement training. Due to her resource guarding tendencies, she's best suited for a household without children. Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Looks like: Boxer, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever Mix Male, 8 years old (estimated), 71 pounds Meet the dog with the world's biggest heart! Hank has tons of love to share in the form of cuddles, snuggles, and adoration for his family. Hank refuses to pick favorites-in fact, he's a fan of yours already! He has excellent manners-no jumping up when saying hello, never begging, and asking permission before getting onto a bed or couch. Hank would be happiest in a house where folks have deep reserves of affection ready to share with him. This energetic boy will need people who welcome a dog with spirit, strength, and passions: car rides, long walks, hikes, and fetch (only the best game in the world). He has shown some dog reactivity while on leash, but with reminders and training he's already showing signs of improvement. He has successfully lived with cats in the past, but would require a gradual introduction with any new kitty friends. He admits that his natural inclination is to chase cats (squirrels are also kind of irresistible). Hank sometimes protects his resources when he settles into a home. He would be best in a home as a solo dog or with a pup who is happy to share toys and chews and won't be bothered by Hank's miserly tendencies at times! We don't know yet how Hank would do with children. Hank's dream situation would include humans of his very own to love, squeaky toys, and a yard. Hank's DNA results show that he's a Super Mutt Mix! He's 50% Boxer mixed with German Shepherd, Golden Retriever and Border Collie. Hank was surrendered to us because his senior guardian was no longer able to care for him.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Important:   We're a small (but mighty!) volunteer-run organization. To be considered for one of our adoptable animals, you must first submit an   application   at stfrancisanimal.org. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, a volunteer will contact you within 72 hours only if it's a possible match. Stormi was found alone, shivering in the rain under a bush in San Jose at 6 months old in December 2022. She was adopted in January 2023, becoming part of a happy family with a young couple and their large dog. The dogs did well most of the time and loved to play. However, the family’s other dog wasn’t always keen on Stormi, with the resident dog initiating fights. While her family loves her dearly, they made the difficult decision to rehome her for her mental and physical well-being. Stormi is 1.5 years old, about 50 pounds, and still has puppy energy, but is a sweet cuddle bug as well. She loves to play with toys, especially playing tug, but will also happily gnaw on a chew toy. She loves to de-stuffy soft toys (gotta get that squeaker!). She adores adventures and will run her little heart out at the park. She’s a big fan of chasing anything you throw, but she can’t promise she’ll bring them back. (Bonus: That means you get your steps in too!) If given the opportunity, Stormi would likely love and excel at agility courses—she’s smart as a whip and learns quickly. Stormi is a lover and snuggler who always wants to be with you, freely giving kisses at every opportunity. She loves to be on the couch with her humans but will also chill in her doggy bed for naps. Stormi’s mom took her to work several times a week. Stormi loved getting to say hi to all her coworkers. Stormi was so happy to be in the office that she sometimes gave folks sneaky elbow licks or demanded pets and love. She would love to have a backyard, but has made do with a small outdoor courtyard. She will do best if she has free access to an outdoor space to go potty. She can hold it for several hours but has a small bladder and needs to go out frequently. Stormi loves people and warms up quickly, but given her rough start in life, Stormi prefers greeting new people on her terms. She does best when ignored and allowed to sniff, choosing for herself when she wants pets or attention. (We get you, Stormi—personal space is personal space!) Once she’s decided to be friends, Stormi is friends forever. Stormi is crate trained and very food motivated. She’ll do just about anything for a treat. She has some training and can sit, lay down, get in to heel position, load up (into the car), get off, back it up, get out (of a room); she is working on wait, stay, come, on your bed, and heel. Stormi still pulls on leash and needs someone who can work with her on leash manners as well as other skills. Storni loves people and other dogs, and despite the scraps with her dog brother, has been fostered in a home with many resident dogs and numerous doggy visitors as her fosterer runs doggy day care and boarding out of his home. Stormi has been great with all the other dogs and has had no incidents while in foster. She has been great with the resident cat at foster in the house, but when outside is prone to chase cats. Stormi has met older kids and does fine, and for the first 2-3 weeks after being rescued lived in a home with teenagers, but otherwise has not lived with kids. She would likely do fine in a house with older kids. Stormi is healthy, spayed, and up to date on all her shots. She has several scars from the fights she got in with her dog brother. Stormi gets very anxious at the vet, so she takes anti-anxiety medication several hours before a vet visit and wears a muzzle in the clinic. Stormi is an amazing, and beautiful, dog who is a lovebug through and through. She generally has two modes: high energy chaos monster and crashed out cuddle bug who just wants to lay near you. She wears her heart on her sleeve, or rather her face in the form of her heart shaped nose. Stormi is hoping you will take her home and let her love you and be loved furever.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 12:09 am
