All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, September 9th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $500   Mrs Maisel is a 2 year old Boxer mix who was surrendered to our rescue when her prior home was no longer able to care for her and give her the time she needed. She has been an absolutely lovely pup around kids of all sizes and ages, dogs, and cats as well! She will make her future forever home so lucky. Below is a report from her foster. 'Mrs Maisel is a terrific dog! She adapted right away to our routine. We get up around 6:30 and let the dogs out to do their business. She gets breakfast around 7:30 AM and is a great eater. She then plays in the yard for a few hours before taking a long nap on the couch. She has dinner around 6:30 PM and then goes outside one more time before bed. She has not had an accident in our home since we have had her. Mrs Maisel loves to play but is respectful when other dogs need a break from go go go energy. She is calm when meeting members of the household and when on walks and responds very well to a no command. She would love to go to a home who has a medium-large dog who wants a playful companion because she could truly play 24/7 and still want to play more! She also LOVES a good belly rub. She would also do well in a home with runners and hikers, her tongue hangs out of her mouth after a good long play or activity session. Mrs Maisel is an option for a home who has had prior experience with dogs, especially those who have prior experience with larger breed dogs. If there are children in the home, they should be over the age of 8 and knock-over proof as Mrs Maisel can get excited and play bowling alley with little ones.    September 30, 2023, 1:01 am

I love leaning in for pets and will show my appreciation with the biggest tail wags ever. I'm still a big puppy and will need an experienced dog owner to help me learn basic manners. ** THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING ** ** SAM IS LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY ** Once Sam knows you are his person, he will be your devoted side kick. Samwise (aka Sam) is a handsome young adult Boxer/Malamute/Husky (DNA sequencing available) mix stray for a family to call his own. Sam was abandoned on a rural property. The property owner had him scanned for a microchip and contacted his owners who did not want him back and surrendered him. His benefactor was kind enough to keep him from euthanasia in a shelter and is caring for him while looking to place this lovable young man in his furever home. Sam is estimated to be twenty months old and weighs 68 pounds. Sam is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped (medical records available). Sam has been in the same home for the past three months, but the family is unable to keep him due to other commitments. Sam is accustomed to being inside and is housebroken (of course he would need to learn the rules at your house.) He is active outside, entertaining himself and those around him by tossing the ball to himself, playing in the sprinklers and the kiddy pool. He enjoys walks and playing with other dogs. Sam is submissive with other dogs and usually rolls on his back when playing. Sam is very tolerant, however due to his size and playfulness, he is best suited for older children. Sam can be initially shy of strangers, but once he knows he’s safe he is confident and friendly, even with delivery personnel such as the Amazon driver and the postal person. More than anything, Sam loves people and enjoys cuddling on a lap or being brushed, as well as just being in the same room as humans and “watching” them work. Sam may have a prey drive, so a home without cats is recommended. Sam has almost 100% recall when off leash. He is very pack oriented and will not leave on pack walks even when he is off leash. He is also quite an adventurer, loving car rides, kayaking and tent camping. While Sam knows his basic commands (sit, down, stay, come), he tends to pull on the leash. He is attending a seven week training course with his foster mom and would benefit from training with his new family.
