June A18571442 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old -This peanut can be submissive and nervous in new situations-She will army crawled and flipped over to give you her belly-She wouldn’t take treats initially but once comfortable she decided they were yummy! She knows how to sit and she takes snacks very nicely.-She loves to curl up close for cuddles-She wasn’t interested in a tennis ball which seemed to scare her but she did perk up with a stuffie. She started pouncing around on it and played tug with me for a little bit. I think she’ll be playful once she’s more comfortable.-She gives a few little kisses-She just needs a little time and patience to come around-Walks decent on leash-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids •Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Meet Dutchess- The most sweetest of old ladies. She has a heart of gold and is looking for a nice place to live out her golden months or years. Due to her older age she would do best in a low-traffic environment where she can focus on getting her beauty sleep and soaking up love and affection. Dutchess is a wonderful lady who could use a home that is experienced with senior dogs and the special care required to keep them comfortable. If you have a soft spot for the grey muzzled friends, then come meet this sweetheart today and help give her the retirement home of her dreams! An ideal home:Recommend meeting children

Story
Sweet Princess was on her own outside for weeks before we could catch her. She is heartworm positive. Would you be willing to host this pretty pitty girl for a few months while she goes through her heartworm treatment? This sweet pup needs a foster home! Princess is heartworm positive and will be treated by our rescue. Princess is well behaved and housetrained. She has been gentle with cats and calm around other dogs. She’s eager to please and wants to be near humans more than anything else. She loves car rides and meeting new people. She's just learning to play, and a calm home environment will allow her the rest and relaxation she needs as she undergoes this treatment. If you live in the Detroit area within 30 minutes of Warren and have room in your heart to foster this amazing pup, please contact us. Boxer English Bulldog

Female, Adult

Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story
Hello there! My name is Manny/Chip! I am the most handsomest Boxer/Lab mix ever!! And my personality is just as attractive! I was given a chance at a new life when Artemis pulled me from the pound – they were going to euthanize me, can you believe it?!?! Well, now I’m safe… and full of hope as I anxiously await that loving family that is out there for me. A little about me: * I was born around 9/04/21 * I weigh about 55lbs * I’m already neutered * I’m heartworm negative and UTD on vaccines and preventatives! * I LOVE playing ball and getting belly rubs. * Hanging out with my person is my most favorite thing * I promise – I would make you a GREAT canine buddy!! Please give me a chance to win your heart and become your best friend forever! I really need to find my new family… that very well may be you! Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!

These pups are in Hamtramck, Michigan too!

Story
Tempest Dujour A18577070 lb. neutered male, approx 3 years old -He’s a little stoic and shows little emotion-Inside, once he opened up a little, he absolutely loved rolling around on the blankets…Either scratching his face on them or rolling on his back with his legs flailing everywhere!-He’s a leaner and pushes his body weight into you for pets. Butt scratches seem to be his favorite and he will give you his rear end frequently.-He contorts his whole body awkwardly as he slumps to the floor for pets-He enjoys down time and went off on his own to sprawl out on the blankets….content and calm.-He likes treats, sits and takes them gently. He can also catch them.-He gives kisses-He didn’t show any interest in playing with toys-A pretty chill guy for the most part-He walks decent on leash but can be strong at certain times and will pull-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.
