Story
My story Here's what the humans have to say about me: Meet Bertha Say hello to Bertha! Bertha is a beautiful Boxer mix who is approximately 1.5 to 2 years old and currently weighs 40 pounds. She ended up in the dog pound along the Border of Mexico. The animal control officers loved her, and ask us to please help! We are very happy we were able to rescue her and help her find a forever home! Bertha is a very happy and playful gal! She gets along well with the other dogs in her playgroup here at the rescue, and is amazing on a leash!!! She has so much potential with the right family to teach her!! She is just so happy to learn! She does still have some puppy energy, so would do best in an active home with older kiddos where she can go on lots of walks, runs and/or hike, She is a very smart girl who learns quickly and wants love and attention so badly! She craves being with people! A basic obedience class would be great for her, she wants to please and is very treat motivated! Bertha is a wonderful girl who would be a loyal and loving companion to a loving family! Bertha is now in a foster home in Castroville, TX and not only that, her foster mom is a dog trainer and works with us at the rescue! She is doing wonderfully! Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to Allen Park Michigan on June 15th with an approved application! She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $400. The fee includes the transport cost. *Bertha tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Story
Meet Jewel! Jewel was in a small rural shelter in La Joya, Texas on the border of Mexico. She was picked up as a stray with her 5 cute little happy puppies. We think she is a boxer/terrier mix, 35lbs and around 2 years old. She has beautiful eyes that look through your soul. And her underbite smile is everything! Jewel is a jewel! A true gem. She is super friendly, happy, loving and wonderful! She has never met a stranger and gets along great with other dogs. She has a playful side, but she isn't overboard, and loves loves loves being with people. Our van was totally full on our last trip to the border, but we just could not leave her and her puppies behind, after her heart felt yodel in the kennel. Must watch her video. She is a great dog, with a wonderful happy future full of love and fun to give to the right family. She did test positive for HW disease and will be treated before transport Located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and available for transport to Allen Park, MI on June 15, 2024, the adoption fee is $400. Story
Meet Pyrite Introducing Pyrite! Pyrite is an adorable Cattle Dog / Boxer/ Terrier mix puppy who is approximately 2 months old and currently weighs 3.8 pounds. We rescued him, along with his little siblings, and mom Jewel from the La Joya shelter in south Texas, near the border of Mexico.. Mama Jewel has done a great job taking care of her kiddos and we are so happy they are here with us now. We can’t wait for them to find loving, forever homes! Pyite is a typical happy, playful puppy. He loves everyone he meets, is very social and outgoing and has a tail that is always wagging! He has lots of fun playing with his toys and enjoys romping around the play yard exploring with his siblings. He loves getting attention and affection will make a very loving little companion. Pyrite’s mom, Jewel is a boxer mix who came to us a bit underweight. Her ideal weight will be around 40 pounds and we have no idea who dad is. We have no idea how big the puppies will be full grown, so we can only estimate they will be around the same size. Pyrite is a just sweet social, cuddly little dude and we can really see him doing well growing up in just about any family environment. He would love to have a home and family to call his Availble for transport to Allen Park, Michigan on June 15th, with approved application. The adoption fee is $450. The fee includes transport costs. Story
They call me Exuberant, Handsome and Sweet but you can choose a new name for me when we adopt each other. I don’t care what you call me, as long as you call me. I’m a happy dog who loves people more than anything else in the world. I’m a 4 year old Pitbull Lab (?) mix, with a 22” collar and am very big and strong. The Vet said I weigh 73 pounds. Don’t let that scare you because I am just a mushy ball of love. I like to let everyone know how happy I am to see them by twirling around and wagging my tail as fast as it will go. This is usually when they call me Exuberant. I like to have fun. Because I’m such a good boy, I’m allowed in the house and have good potty manners. I prefer being inside with people at night especially. You can hold the TV remote for us. Since I have a lot of energy and need exercise, your large fenced yard will be well-used. My foster peeps say I need a family, not a job. They know that I’m a quick learner and will be someone’s best dog ever with some training. Because I’m big and young at heart, my new humans should have some experience with dogs and be able to work with someone of my stature. I promise I will try to do everything you ask enthusiastically. Fortunately, my past dog life doesn’t include any physical abuse so I’m not afraid of people or other animals. I don’t like loud booming noises (fireworks or dynamite) or gunfire so I wouldn’t be a good hunting dog. Health wise, I am terrific; up to date on shots and tested negative for heartworms. Recently I was tricked into getting “tutored” and woke up with my bubbles missing. Foster peeps say it means I will get my forever home very soon! Maybe it’s yours!
