Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **UPDATE**     Blaze is a ball of energy and a cuddle bug! On the go 24/7 and would be great in a home with lots of exercise and a big backyard to run and play. Due to his past, he is animal reactive and needs training and someone patient to work with him. His loves his canine brother and sister but will need supervised and slow introductions to any new dogs. He needs to be in a home with teens and up. He is a puppy always ready for a walk! He loves his toys and treats. His ball is his favorite toy! Blaze was found in freezing temps in the park, underweight and cold. He is around 9 months old. If you are an early bird, he is for you. Ready for zoomies and walks as soon as he is up and always ready to be active. Loves toys, treats, and attention. Best for kids 12 and up due to being hyper and jumping. Blaze is a smart boy and has already learned to sit within a week. He loves to cuddle with his fur siblings and play all day. Did I mention he loves to talk?! He has separation anxiety and a little bit of fear anxiety and will do well with a patient family who will have the time to spend with him and mostly be home or with him. Car rides can still be scary for him, so giving him short rides to get him used to it is helping. He is a jumper, so a fence in yard is preferable. He will be your shadow and give you lots of love!   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Do you have tennis balls, like a lot of them, if not will you buy some? If your answer is yes than you might be the home for me! See I am simple girl but I do require lots of tennis balls!! I like other toys but nothing gets me as excited as having tennis balls! My foster says I am just a happy gal, that is good with all people even kiddos! I am house broken, but I may have had a couple accidents but I am still recovering from taking care of my 5 babies for the last several weeks. They all have found their forever homes and now it’s my turn. I was a great mom but my foster promised I never ever have to do it again, which sounds perfect to me! I really love my foster home. See, I also get alone time and have my own room, I have adults and kids who play fetch with me a few times a day. They all helped me get better on the leash, to come when I was called, I am actually even starting to learn how to settle down and watch TV. I would probably like to stay here but they have some big dogs here, I just don’t like when they get in my way. My foster thinks I will much prefer to be the only dog in a home.  I think that is true at least to start. The cats here don’t bother me. Did I mention my NEED for tennis balls, oh I did, okay. Well that’s all for now. Let lastdaydogrescue.org know if you want to meet me by filling out an application. Click here to watch a video of Pu Litter Eevee (Mom) - ADOPTION PENDING.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. May 22, 2026, 8:01 am

Story
Riley 5 years old. Pit Terrier/Coonhound Mix Lovable Couch Potato! Meet Riley. My wife and I adopted Riley as a puppy in 2021 from a local rescue in Berkley MI. Snuggle bug and absolute couch potato. She is somewhat shy at first but once she warms up to you she will be your best friend. Riley is fully house/potty trained. Up to date on all shots and vaccinations and is very healthy. No medications or dietary needs. She is spayed. Also knows basic commands such as sit, down, and crate. She does not beg or counter surf. We have made the difficult decision to re-home Riley because she does not do well with small children. She is tolerable of our other dog, but overall we think she would do best in a child-free and pet-free home. Riley will thrive in a quieter environment with a fenced backyard as she loves to explore! While our hearts are broken to have to re-home her, we feel that this will be a positive move that will put her into a more comfortable environment.

Story
***Video of her can be seen on our Facebook page here and here.*** Athena is a sweet, playful young pit bull mix who was found running alone with no one coming to claim her. At just 1 year old, she’s still discovering the world — and she does it all with her stunning mismatched eyes, one blue and one green. She loves playing with other dogs and has all the makings of a wonderful companion. When she first arrived, Athena was scared of everything — the loud shelter, new people, passing cars, even the wind. With patient volunteer support, she’s learning she’s safe, and her sassy, silly side is starting to shine. She’s not a fan of the cold and will snort her displeasure before running back to warmth, but she’s also incredibly affectionate. Sit on the ground with her, and she’ll climb right into your arms. Athena is still figuring out how to trust and feel secure, and she needs a home willing to guide her with patience and kindness. With the right person, she’ll blossom into the loving, loyal companion she’s meant to be. Canine adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter Age appropriate vaccinations Deworming Flea prevention (if required) Heartworm screening/monthly prevention ADOPTION FEE: $ 150 "People who say money can't buy you happiness, have never paid an adoption fee...." IS THIS DOG SAFE WITH CATS? There is almost always an acclimation period when a new pet joins the household. We are happy to suggest a few ways to ease the transition. If one of our dogs is reported to have lived with cats previously, that will be indicated in the dog's description! IS THIS DOG GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS? No dog loves every other dog, just as humans do not like every other human they meet. A proper introduction (meet and greet) would be required as part of our application process. IS THIS DOG GOOD WITH CHILDREN? The better question is how the children have been taught to handle animals. A dog will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach children to interact with dogs and pay attention to body language. Young children should never be left unsupervised with new dogs. WHY IS THIS DOG IN THE SHELTER? The top reasons dogs are given up are: Moving without considering the needs of the pets Death of the owner with no plan in place for the pets Previous owner did not provide appropriate training Owner did not consider the lifespan of a dog Owner did not consider the cost of providing for a dog

Story
**Latest video can be seen here. **Video of him can be seen on our Facebook page here, here, and here.** Xander got to have an outing from the shelter with a trained long-term volunteer! Here’s what they had to say about this very good boy: “Xander was so good and loved the toys, but he was so happy to sit next to us and get attention. He couldn't decide what he wanted more… pets or toys! He will probably be a “shadow dog” following around his owner. Plus he walked 4 miles like a champ!” ----- Hi there! I'm Xander and I am doing the best I can to find a family who will love me. My friends here at the shelter do so much to keep my hope from fading, but it can really bring a dog down to watch everyone else find their perfect matches ... everyone but me. My friends here keep telling me that it isn't my fault at all. It's nothing I'm doing wrong and they have faith the right person is out there for me. They tell me this every morning and every evening. Black dogs are just the most overlooked in shelters, they tell me. There's nothing wrong with you, Xander. When I was first rescued off the street, I had no idea what to do. I was scared. I was hungry. And I didn't understand why my first home would leave me frightened and alone in a strange neighborhood. My good friends at the shelter taught me how to walk on a leash, play fetch (and really bring it back) and now, they're teaching me how to swim! This week is extra exciting because I'm also starting night school with Downriver Dogs Obedience. My friends say I'm such a smart boy, they want to see how I do advancing my education! Pssst... and if I'm adopted during this semester, my new family can take over my weekly class for free. Email us about him today to schedule a time to meet him one on one (with one of his many human friends). Xander has had day trips just hanging out at volunteers' homes. His favorite thing to do is watch them cook and lay on the floor playing with his toys after a two mile walk. Xander can couch potato with the best of them, but he also likes to stretch his legs! Xander is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm tested. Be sure to check out our Facebook page at Wyandotte Animal Shelter (https://www.facebook.com/wacshelter/) for day to day updates on our cats and dogs. :) Thank you for your interest in adopting! If you think the animal in this profile might be a good fit for your home and would like to meet them, here's how! !. Go to our website at wacshelter.com. 2. Click on the Apply To Adopt button to submit an online adoption application. NOTE: You will get an email confirmation that we have received your application. If you do not see this email appear upon submission, please check your "spam" folder. 3. Your application will be processed and a volunteer will call or email with any questions. NOTE: If any questions are left unanswered or incomplete, the application would not be processed. A completely filled out application will take 1-3 days to process! 4. We will set up a time with you to meet the animal you've applied to adopt! ** We DO give preference to applicants with verifiable dog experience (as a primary caretaker). All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative unless otherwise indicated. All are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and current on heartworm prevention! Additional questions...
