Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. Jackson is 2-3 years old and weighs approximately 70 lbs. He is crate trained, housebroken and currently learning to walk on a leash. He came to us after being hit by a car, but after hip and shoulder surgery, he is healed up 100% and enjoys being active. He also loves a good afternoon nap. Jackson is very friendly and loves being with his people. He has been around cats but has not been introduced to any dogs yet, although he gets happy and excited when the neighbor dogs come out. Sometimes he'll even sit by the fence waiting for them to come out and &#194&#147play&#194&#148 Jackson still exhibits a few puppy behaviors so having toys to chew and play with will be good for him. He's not opposed to a slipper or loose sock here and there ? He is a really funny dog. He will do best in a home with older kids or just adults as closing all doors and gates is a must. If inadvertently given the opportunity to go on an adventure, he'll use that open door or gate and have a night on the town! He is neutered now so that may subside somewhat. We are working on not jumping and general manners but Jackson is a really happy and friendly guy who will make a fun addition to the family.**All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. He was found as a stray who'd been injured while wandering. A local nonprofit group dedicated to providing for sick and injured shelter animals (Pound Pals Downriver), provided needed the veterinary care he needed to treat the wound and control the infection. Volunteer dog trainers for the shelter referred to him as a perfect dog who is very eager to please. Knows commands and very intelligent. We knew Jack would not be hard to place... Until we realized he didn't have vision in one eye. The signs were there, but Jack is such an intelligent dog he hid them. Testing curb height by passing the front of his paw up the side until he felt the surface. Feeling with his whiskers, relying on his sense of scent... The next blow came when his veterinarian diagnosed him with Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). Jack has a high likelihood of losing his vision completely. The only positive is he won't experience any pain, but his vision loss will progress as he lives in a shelter. The best scenario is that Jack will find a home able to help him adjust as his vision fades. He gets along with the other dogs he's met at the shelter, but would not be responsibly placed in a home with cats.
