Bear Foster/Home Needed – Long Island, NY area Meet Bear. This sweet, social, 12-year-old gentleman is looking for the perfect home to spend what’s left of his life. Bear is a large mixed breed weighing approx. 50lbs. He was surrendered by his people because they were moving, and Bear was not welcomed to move with them ☹ He was slightly underweight and originally showed signs of neglect. Bear suffers from chronic kidney disease, but it has been well managed as of late. Thankfully we were able to find a wonderful, temporary home for him but he needs a place and people to call his own. Bear is relatively low energy and loves a good nap. He also loves puzzle toys and treats 😊 He has really come out of his shell, now that he’s safe and well cared for. He’s good with kids and friendly with familiar dogs. Look at him walking with his foster siblings. He hasn’t had any exposure to cats. We'd love to see Bear spend his final years in a comfy and calm environment. Jolene is a very special dog that overcame being listed for euthanasia at a crowded shelter in the south. She traveled north to NY with her brother to start her new life!Jolene takes some time to warm up to new people. She is timid at first but once she realizes she is safe and cared for she will lovingly accept and give affection. She will give you a little nuzzle at first and then full on face kisses once she is less nervous. She is very curious and willing to grow and learn. She is house trained and sleeps well through the night in her crate or dog bed. She is a quiet girl, only sometimes giving a little cry when she needs something. Jolene is looking for a forever home that will be patient with her and let her come out of her shell at her own pace. She will walk on a leash to potty but definitely prefers a yard. She is being fostered with other dogs currently and gets along great. Jolene is fine staying home alone by herself without any separation anxiety. She will usually spend the day snoozing or enjoying a good bone to chew on. We are still working on building up her confidence more and interacting with the other dogs as well as leash training/walking, but in time I know she will face her fears and blossom into an even more amazing dog than she already is!
