Story
Meet Sweet Mama Moosh! For years, Sweet Mama Moosh has known what it means to survive—but not what it feels like to truly belong. This beautiful 4-5 year old girl spent her life on the streets, where neighbors watched her lovingly raise at least two litters of puppies. While she made sure her babies were safe, no one was there to make sure she was. She endured hunger, uncertainty, and even an injured paw, yet somehow never lost her gentle, loving heart. When we trapped her, the plan was simply to spay her and return her to the streets. But after spending time with her, we knew we couldn't do it. Sweet Mama Moosh is far too affectionate, trusting, and deserving of love to spend another day wondering where she'll sleep or if she'll have enough to eat. She has fought to survive long enough. Now it's her turn to be cared for. Today, her paw has completely healed, and she has blossomed into a happy, healthy, beautiful girl who is finally ready for the life she's always deserved. She is currently being fostered in Puerto Rico and is now spayed, vaccinated, up to date on preventatives, potty trained and crate trained! Such an amazing girl!! She adores gentle pets, leisurely walks, and never says no to a tasty snack. 🥹 She has lived alongside other dogs on the streets. While she'll politely correct a dog that gets too pushy, she has otherwise done well around other dogs. Right now, Sweet Mama Moosh needs someone willing to open their heart and home—whether that's through fostering, foster-to-adopt, or giving her the forever family she's never had. If you've ever thought about changing a dog's life, this is your chance. Sweet Mama Moosh has spent years giving everything she had to survive and to care for others. Now she's simply asking for someone to choose her. Please help us give this sweet girl the ending she's waited her whole life for. ❤️

Story
If you love outdoor adventures Wallace is the dog for you. This 2–3-year-old Boxer/Hound sweetheart is an active boy– he loves hiking on the trails, running in the snow, splashing in the water – it’s all good with him. He walks well on leash, and actually loves to lead the way, which is really sweet. Oh, and he loves riding in the car, especially if its for a pup cup! At 77 pounds Wallace is a big guy but is as gentle and affectionate as could be. He is very intelligent, a good learner and has a strong desire to please his people. He loves to play but also settles down easily. And while he sleeps through the night on his bed, he would always prefer to share yours if given the chance. Wallace is currently in foster, where he is doing great, but he is waiting eagerly to find his forever home. He is looking for an experienced owner to guide him and be his best friend. He would do best in a home with adults or older kids who can manage his size and energy, and while he plays well with other dogs, should be the only dog in the home. Also on his wish list... a yard where he can explore and stretch his legs! In return for all of that he promises to give back with loads of love and lots of loyalty. Kindhearted Wallace just can't wait to find that forever family who will appreciate how truly special he is! Could it be you? Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Amanda is a gentle senior dog who is ready for a true second chance. She is incredibly social and loves people and other dogs. After her owner passed away, Amanda was left behind in the home and eventually ended up at the shelter. Losing her person and her home was incredibly confusing for her, but despite everything she has been through, Amanda has remained a kind, loving, and easygoing companion. At around 10 years old, Amanda is well past the chaos of puppyhood and is happiest living a calm, comfortable life. She enjoys soft beds, quiet routines, and simply being near her people. She is the kind of dog who settles in beside you and brings a peaceful presence to the home. Amanda does well with a structured routine and appreciates a relaxed environment where she can feel safe and secure. Like many dogs who have experienced big life changes, she may need a little time to adjust to a new home, but once she settles in, her sweet and loyal personality shines through. Senior dogs like Amanda are often overlooked in shelters, but they make some of the most wonderful companions. They ask for very little and give so much in return. Amanda is fully vetted and ready for adoption. She is looking for a patient, loving home that will give her the stability and comfort she deserves in this next chapter of her life. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion and want to give a deserving senior dog the fresh start she’s been waiting for, Amanda may be the perfect match.

Story
Meet Angel Isn't she beautiful? Angel arrived at our shelter through no fault of her own, unsure of why she was here. Like many dogs, she needed a little time to decompress and learn that she was safe. With patience and kindness, she's come such a long way and is now ready to find the forever home she deserves. Angel is approximately 3 years old and is looking for an experienced owner who will continue to help her build confidence through patience, consistency, and training. She isn't a good fit for a first-time dog owner, but in the right home she has so much love to give. While Angel has not been formally dog tested, she has done well in our outdoor pens alongside male dogs. We believe she would do best as the only pet or with a calm, mellow male dog. No cats, please. If you think Angel could be the perfect addition to your family, please submit an application. July 16, 2026, 10:17 am

Sweet Gemma She was such a happy girl today. Gemma is slowly becoming the gem we always knew she was. She’s a sensitive soul who needs a gentle, patient owner to help her continue to blossom. She has so much love to give, and she’s just waiting for someone to help her feel safe enough to share it. July 16, 2026, 10:17 am

Story
Meet Princess Penne! This 6-year-old, 40 lb sweetheart is the total package — brains, beauty, and just the right amount of sass. Penne has settled beautifully into her foster home and has been busy learning all kinds of new skills. She’s an eager student who loves to make her people proud! Penne is a classic bully girl who loves her people big time. She greets everyone she meets with a happy heart and zero hesitation — kids and adults alike are instant best friends in her book. If you’ve got affection to give, Penne is ready to soak it all up. When it comes to fun, the flirt pole is her absolute favorite toy. She also loves foraging toys and snuffle mats that keep her clever brain busy. But don’t worry — she’s not destructive at all! Penne is respectful in the home and leaves her toys and bedding perfectly intact. Princess Penne’s royal resume: • Crate trained • Potty trained • Polite with her belongings • Smart and eager to learn • Expert snuggler Her perfect day? A nice hike or outdoor adventure followed by curling up on the couch for some serious cuddle time. She’s just as happy chilling with her people as she is heading out to explore. Penne does have a high prey drive, so she’s looking for a home without cats or small animals. She also came from a past where she had some difficult encounters with other dogs, which made her fearful when she first arrived in foster care. With patience and training, she’s made wonderful progress and has learned to peacefully coexist during structured activities with a calm neutered male dog in the home. That said, Penne would truly love to be your one and only princess, soaking up all the love and attention. However, she may be able to live with a relaxed, dog-savvy neutered male with a very slow, thoughtful introduction. If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy, a couch-snuggling professional, and a loving companion who will adore you with her whole heart, Princess Penne might just be your perfect match.
