Story
We'd like to re-introduce you to Winnie, a remarkable dog who's come a long way since we last introduced her a few months ago. If you remember she rescued by a Good Samaritan and had an an iliac fracture and MAJOR ear troubles. Thanks to the unwavering support of our incredible community, we were able to provide her with the necessary medical care, granting her the gift of a pain-free life through total ear canal ablation surgery she needed. Now, the time has come for us to find Winnie her forever home. At around 5-6 years old, Winnie is not just any dog; she's a TOTAL SWEETHEART! She has been living with a foster and has shown great compatibility with their other large dog, Scottie. Day by day, she's making huge strides in meeting new people. Instead of being terrified, she now greets strangers with excitement. Her transformation is nothing short of inspiring. Winnie does reasonably well around cats but may need some separation when left alone. She's learning to understand them, but she’s not aggressive towards them. When it comes to children, we believe she would thrive best in a home with older kids, as her playfulness can be exuberant, akin to a bull in a China shop. She also can be a bit mouthy when she wants attention, but it’s more gentle and nothing major. For Winnie, a fenced-in yard would be ideal, she would thrive in an active home and one that can continue nurturing her newfound confidence. Is that with you? If you are interested in potentially meeting Winnie, send us a message!

Story
Courtesy Post Birthday: 04/06/2023 (best guess) Breed: St. Bernard - Boxer mix. DNA results available. Weight: 60 pounds Coat: Brown with some Black Millie is a 1 year old St. Bernard - Boxer mix that has a lot of energy, but is also sweet and cuddly. She loves to chew on hard bones and rubber bones, but will tear up a soft toy or a rope pretty quickly, so you have to watch. She is very playful and will get a little restless if not given enough exercise so daily walks and/or a few fetch sessions should do. She is great with adults as well as children, however gets a little excited at first and is prone to jumping, but after a few minutes she calms down into her sweet goofy self. She is good and playful with other dogs, however can get a bit rough at times because she doesn’t realize how big she is. She seems to hate cats and squirrels and will bark when she sees them. She is very treat motivated when it comes to training and listening and has had a 6 week beginner training class. She walks very well on a leash, especially when you bring some treats along with you. She does great on car rides. She was difficult to bathe at home, however she is wonderful at the groomers and they always tell us how good she was. She has a bad habit of licking her paws and it seems to be worst when it is wet out so you have to watch out for that as she begrudgingly listens when you tell her to stop. She eats V-Dog twice a day (2 cups at a time) with some veggies as well around 7 AM and around 6:00 PM, but seems to be flexible with those times. She goes to her crate upon request with no objections and sleeps in there at night as well, though she does love cuddling up in a bed whenever she can. We are rehoming her because we were not aware that it is not advised to adopt litter mates due to littermate syndrome. They both do very well on their own and seem happier. Millie is the more confident and adaptable of the two, we think she would be easy to fall in love with. Millie is getting her spay on Thursday 4/18 so will not be available until 5/3 at the earliest as she needs time to recover.
