Story
We'd like to re-introduce you to Winnie, a remarkable dog who's come a long way since we last introduced her a few months ago. If you remember she rescued by a Good Samaritan and had an an iliac fracture and MAJOR ear troubles. Thanks to the unwavering support of our incredible community, we were able to provide her with the necessary medical care, granting her the gift of a pain-free life through total ear canal ablation surgery she needed. Now, the time has come for us to find Winnie her forever home. At around 5-6 years old, Winnie is not just any dog; she's a TOTAL SWEETHEART! She has been living with a foster and has shown great compatibility with their other large dog, Scottie. Day by day, she's making huge strides in meeting new people. Instead of being terrified, she now greets strangers with excitement. Her transformation is nothing short of inspiring. Winnie does reasonably well around cats but may need some separation when left alone. She's learning to understand them, but she’s not aggressive towards them. When it comes to children, we believe she would thrive best in a home with older kids, as her playfulness can be exuberant, akin to a bull in a China shop. She also can be a bit mouthy when she wants attention, but it’s more gentle and nothing major. For Winnie, a fenced-in yard would be ideal, she would thrive in an active home and one that can continue nurturing her newfound confidence. Is that with you? If you are interested in potentially meeting Winnie, send us a message!

Story
Meet Revere, a 5 1/2-year-old Boxer/Terrie mix who’s ready to charm his way into your heart with his lovable quirks and resilience. Revere’s journey to us began after a summer thunderstorm, leaving him in need of medical care. Underweight and nursing a fractured right rear leg, this courageous adventurer has proven himself to be a fighter with a goofy grin that’s impossible to resist. Revere also sports a distinctive head tilt, which has been diagnosed as idiopathic meaning its exact cause remains a mystery. Despite extensive testing ruling out common issues like ear infections and vestibular disease, this adorable tilt has become Revere’s signature look. It doesn’t slow him down one bit; instead, it only adds to his charm! He may not look like your average dog due to his special needs, but this spirited guy takes it all in stride and is one of the happiest dogs in our care & a staff and volunteer favorite! During a foster break from the shelter, his foster mom reported that he was housebroken, loved to cuddle with the kids and play with his stuffies! Revere’s ideal home will be one that understands his unique needs. His medical conditions may require ongoing care, and we’re happy to discuss his journey in detail with you. He’s an affectionate, people-loving pup who thrives on attention and praise. While his heart is big, his social skills with other dogs aren’t quite there yet, so Revere will need to be the only pet in the home. This leggy, slanty walker is ready to share his zest for life with a family that will embrace his quirks and provide him the love and care he deserves. Are you ready to give Revere his happily ever after? Reach out to us to learn more about this one-of-a-kind guy! Please note Revere currently resides in a foster home and is not available for same day meet and greets. If interested in learning more about Revere and the adoption process, please email the shelter foster team at foster@cuyahogacounty.gov today!

Story
Lulu is what we lovingly call a `full-figured friend.` She’s got curves and confidence (most of the time). Is she carrying a little extra fluff? Sure. Will she admit it? Absolutely not. Please don’t bring it up — she’s very sensitive and insists it’s just her winter weight (from 3 winters ago…). What Lulu really wants you to focus on is her sparkling personality, which is just as abundant as her… enthusiasm for dinner. When it comes to other dogs, Lulu’s more of a social butterfly than a rough-and-tumble player. She’ll happily mingle, exchange polite sniffs, and then excuse herself to find the nearest patch of shade or a nice lap to sit on (yes, all of her, yes on your lap, no she’s not sorry). She’d be the perfect buddy for someone who loves leisurely walks, big-time snuggles, and a dog who understands the art of chilling. Bonus points if you have a cozy couch, a soft blanket, and a snack drawer that opens suspiciously often.

Story
Looking for a loyal companion who will love you unconditionally? Meet Juniper! This sweet and spunky 10-month-old Boxer/Bulldog mix is overflowing with affection and ready to find her forever home.Juniper absolutely loves people – she greets everyone like a long-lost friend and has never met a stranger. While she`s still working on her manners (she’s a bit of a jumper when excited), there`s not a mean bone in her body. With a little guidance and consistency, she’ll quickly grow into a well-mannered lady. She does get along with other dogs, both male and female, but Juniper is such a people-person (or rather, pup!) that she thrives best as the only pet in the home. She wants to be the center of your world—and she’ll make you the center of hers.If you’re looking for a cuddly, playful, and endlessly loving companion, Juniper might just be your perfect match.Ready to meet Juniper?
