Story
Courtesy Post Birthday: 04/06/2023 (best guess) Breed: St. Bernard - Boxer mix. DNA results available. Weight: 60 pounds Coat: Brown with some Black Millie is a 1 year old St. Bernard - Boxer mix that has a lot of energy, but is also sweet and cuddly. She loves to chew on hard bones and rubber bones, but will tear up a soft toy or a rope pretty quickly, so you have to watch. She is very playful and will get a little restless if not given enough exercise so daily walks and/or a few fetch sessions should do. She is great with adults as well as children, however gets a little excited at first and is prone to jumping, but after a few minutes she calms down into her sweet goofy self. She is good and playful with other dogs, however can get a bit rough at times because she doesn’t realize how big she is. She seems to hate cats and squirrels and will bark when she sees them. She is very treat motivated when it comes to training and listening and has had a 6 week beginner training class. She walks very well on a leash, especially when you bring some treats along with you. She does great on car rides. She was difficult to bathe at home, however she is wonderful at the groomers and they always tell us how good she was. She has a bad habit of licking her paws and it seems to be worst when it is wet out so you have to watch out for that as she begrudgingly listens when you tell her to stop. She eats V-Dog twice a day (2 cups at a time) with some veggies as well around 7 AM and around 6:00 PM, but seems to be flexible with those times. She goes to her crate upon request with no objections and sleeps in there at night as well, though she does love cuddling up in a bed whenever she can. We are rehoming her because we were not aware that it is not advised to adopt litter mates due to littermate syndrome. They both do very well on their own and seem happier. Millie is the more confident and adaptable of the two, we think she would be easy to fall in love with. Millie is getting her spay on Thursday 4/18 so will not be available until 5/3 at the earliest as she needs time to recover. If you are interested in adopting Millie please complete an application on our website at: https://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/adoptables.html

Story
Haven is currently in a foster home and NOT at the shelter. Meet our sweet boy Haven! Haven is a 9-10 year old male Boxer mix that weighs around 60 lbs. pounds.  We do not know much about his history but we can tell you that he has been a perfect gentleman at the shelter.  He has a caramel brown brindle coat that glistens in the sun.  He has a medium energy level.  He walks well on leash.  His kennel is always clean and he knows several commands.  When he is happy, he howls.  He is missing the home life.  Haven is gentle and loves to be near his person.  Haven would be perfect in any household that is willing to provide him love and companionship.  Older children are fine.  He is dog friendly. Compatibility with cats is unknown.  A meet and greet is required with any resident canines.  Haven is available for our foster to adopt program.  This means that you can foster Haven in your home until he is all done with his routine vetting through the Shelter.  After that, you can formally adopt Haven.  Haven will be vaccinated, tested for heartworm disease, and microchipped.  Haven is already neutered.  If you want to adopt Haven, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Haven.  Haven’s adoption fee is $85.  Haven is so deserving of a good home where he can live out his life safe and happy.      Like Parma Animal Shelter on FACEBOOK and help pass the word about our adoptable guests!  Don't forget to share pictures with your friends!  Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/ParmaAnimalShel   Submit an application to adopt on our website parmashelter.org           April 19, 2024, 1:40 pm

Story
Guinness is a male boxer mix that weighs 40 pounds.  He is estimated to be 2 years old.  Guinness was found as a stray and no one claimed him.  Even though Guinness is very skinny and has a few lumps, he is grateful to be at the shelter where he is receiving good food and TLC.  We don’t know his background but we have assured Guinness that it is only the best for the rest.  He can be strong on leash but walks well for the most part.  He has shown great potential with other dogs.  As always, you must make an appointment to meet Guinness with your resident dogs to make sure everyone gets along.  Guinness is a barker.  He has a medium energy level and would thoroughly enjoy a fenced in yard. Compatibility with cats and children is unknown.  Guinness is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes his vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and microchip.  Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Guinness.  Guinness's adoption fee is $160.

Our handsome hunk-Niko is waiting to meet you!! Niko has been with us a long time and was lucky enough to score a foster home to search for his furevers at. Match making is hard work, he prefers to pose on a couch vs in his kennel here. His foster parents and siblings adore him, we get nothing but great reports. Niko is extremely dog social with both female and male dogs. He bounces back and forth from a rough player to a gentle mosier. Niko does not know the word stranger, as he absolutely adores every human in his path! He is housebroken, crate trained, knows basic commands and how to share his things with his dog siblings.
