Story
Meet Minerva, aka Minnie! Minnie’s life took a turn when her elderly guardian moved and she lost her lifelong home. This shy tortie has been through a lot, but with patience, love, and maybe a little bribery in the form of treats, she’s finally starting to show her true personality. She’s not the type to rush into your arms—she likes to inspect, approve, and then maybe settle in—but once she decides you’re cool, she’s basically a velvety little lap heater with built-in purr engine. Minnie is classy, well-mannered, and quietly hilarious if you pay attention. She has impeccable litter box habits, keeps herself groomed like a tiny tortie fashionista, and loves her hideaway spots like a queen’s throne. A sunny window, a cozy cat tree, or a secret box? She approves. Need a companion who can silently judge your life choices but still cuddle you later? Minnie is your girl. Her perfect home is calm, indoor-only, without kids, and ideally as the one-and-only pet… though a gentle cat or dog who respects her space might get lucky. Vet visits? Not her fave—some mild sedation may be required—but the payoff is worth it: a cat who will gift you a lifetime of trust, soft purrs, and subtle sass. Minnie is currently in a loving foster home. A meet and greet can be scheduled once an online application has been submitted and approved by AFRP staff. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org to fill one out today!

Story
Meet Greg! Greg came to AFRP with his brothers Peter and Bobby (aka The Brady Bunch) from Hitchcock Road Animal Services. Born with eyelid agenesis, Greg and his brothers all had special eyelid reconstruction surgery, giving them a whole new perspective on life—literally. Greg’s start in life was a little rough—he couldn’t see well at first, which made the world a scary place—but don’t let that fool you. This sweet boy is gentle, loving, and full of quiet charm. Once he feels safe, he transforms into a laid-back superstar, often found sprawling on his back in a warm sunny spot like he owns the place. He’s basically a four-legged, purring sunbeam. Food? Absolutely a top priority. Greg will happily work for treats, savor every bite, and give you all the side-eye gratitude you could ask for. Toys? Yes, please. Greg enjoys gentle play with his favorite toys or mellow wrestling sessions with fellow feline friends. While he’s incredibly easygoing, he’s not the biggest fan of rambunctious animals—slow, careful introductions are a must. Greg would thrive in a calm, quiet home where he can lounge, snack, and sunbathe in peace. He could be your one-and-only, or he could share his chill vibes with another mellow cat or a dog-savvy, gentle pup. No matter what, he brings a level of zen and subtle sass that’s impossible not to love. ** This pet is a Foster-to-Adopt candidate! That means you can foster them for a short trial period to make sure they’re the perfect match for your home before finalizing the adoption. If you’re interested, please complete both a foster application and an adoption application so we can get the process started. ** Greg is currently in a loving foster home. A meet and greet can be scheduled once an online application has been submitted and approved by AFRP staff. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org to fill one out today!

Story
Meet Dylan! Dylan recently joined our crew due to over capacity at our local shelter! Dylan is that cat who thinks you are his entire reason for existence. Hear footsteps? He’s already doing parkour off the cat tree to get to you. Forget privacy because this handsome guy will follow you everywhere like a tiny, fuzzy bodyguard. He rubs on your legs, stands up to politely demand neck scritches, and purrs like a tiny lawnmower. Pick him up? Congratulations, you now own a limp, purring noodle. Dylan has a curled tail that looks like it’s always mid-pose, very high-fashion. He loves toys, especially squiggles and light-up balls, but mostly he likes eating kibble whenever you’re around. He’s a social snacker and he believes meals should be shared. He’s a fan of lickables, brushing, and staring at you with big beautiful eyes like he’s writing poetry about your face. Dylan is currently looking for a home with adult adopters or families with cat-savvy kids over the age of ten at this time. Dylan is not a fan of dogs, but would do well with other gentle cats. Dylan is funny, flirty, and very available. If you want a cat who acts like he’s the star of a sitcom and you’re his favorite support character, he’s your guy. Story
Meet Oakley! Oakley is that cat. Soft meows, nonstop purrs, and main-character energy wrapped in the coziest snug-bug package. He’s sweet, loving, and obsessed with lap time, so much so that he’ll gently place his paws on your knees like, “Hey, is this seat taken?” before hopping up. Polite king behavior. He’s a professional biscuit-maker (blankets, laps, vibes), with purrs so loud the vet literally couldn’t hear his heart through the stethoscope. Windows are his Roman Empire. He struts along the sills all day watching birds, cars, and neighborhood drama! At night, he pushes the blinds aside and meows impatiently until you come admire him while he waits for you to come home. Oakley isn’t really into toys, but he’s all about people. He loves being held, rolling over for pets, exploring new rooms, and being wherever you are. He eats a little dry food but absolutely demolishes his daily fish mousse like it’s a luxury meal (because it is). Oakley would be an awesome family cat (children over six please), but would do just fine with one or two special people! It's currently unknown how he'd do with cats, but he may do fine with a cat-savvy pup in the home. Interested in Oakley? Handsome, playful, and affectionate. Thor has it all! After coming to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services due to a lack of space this young king is ready for his forever home. Thor is a total love bug. All you have to do is touch him and his purr motor will start. He loves to chase his balls and mice. Thor and his brother Flash are a bonded pair and would have to be adopted together. They haven't been introduced to dogs or other cats yet but we believe with a proper introduction they will do just fine. Thor is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for an online cat application.

Story
Meet Autumn! Autumn came back to AFRP after her previous human couldn’t care for her anymore, and now she’s searching for a home where she can rule as queen of her castle. This senior lady is shy at first, fiercely independent, and has a healthy dose of diva energy—she’s the kind of cat who will silently judge your life choices, but we love her all the more for it. Head-butts and gentle scritches are always welcome, but forced cuddles? Not on her watch. She does things on her schedule, thank you very much. Even in her golden years, Autumn has plenty of personality. She enjoys strategically napping in sunny spots, surveying her domain from a perch, and occasionally reminding you who really runs the household with a perfectly timed side-eye. She’s curious about her humans’ activities, but always from a safe, comfortable distance until she feels ready to interact. Dogs? Not her thing. Other cats? Hmmm, not really into it. Adult-only homes are strongly preferred so she can reign supreme without distraction. Autumn is happiest when she can do life at her own pace, but those who earn her trust will be rewarded with soft purrs, gentle head-butts, and the occasional, delightful little “grumpy” charm that only torties can pull off. ** This pet is a Foster-to-Adopt candidate! That means you can foster them for a short trial period to make sure they’re the perfect match for your home before finalizing the adoption. If you’re interested, please complete both a foster application and an adoption application so we can get the process started. ** Autumn is currently in a loving foster home.
