Story
Ashlyn is spayed, housebroken, crate trained, wonderful with dogs, cats, and children, and travels well. To be transparent and inform you about the care she requires, Ashlyn's current medications are phenobarbital and zonisamide 2x a day, morning and night at your time preference that will work for you. Medications cost 300$ a year ablood work a 1000$. With pet insurance, 0$ after meeting deductible. Ashlyn's seizures are happening every 10 days, mild, 30 seconds long and bounces out of them gracefully. She takes her medicine as pill format like a champ and treats are appreciated. She enjoys grooming herself, but fine with others grooming her. She has seen a neurologist at Sage in Campbell and visits Dr. Miller, family vet in Soquel. I will provide all copies of her veterinary records and neurologist notes will be provided as she does require an MRI to confirm she has epilepsy. All her belongings will go with her, don't need to buy anything. I will care for her until she finds a home.

Story
Meet the Tree kittens! These kittens arrived to the Shelter really fearful and unsure. They had grown up on a property with their parents, after being a product of an unplanned litter. The property owner was concerned for their safety being little kittens exposed to wildlife and cars so they brought them to the Shelter. The Tree kittens are still a bit nervous but slowly learning that humans are friends through play and positive interaction (lots of Churru treats). Ideal adopters for them will be cat savvy and patient in the transition. These kittens will likely thrive as a companion to outgoing resident cats who will show them that the world is not so scary. Although they have experience outdoors, for their health and safety (as well as our local wildlife’s safety), it is required they are indoors only moving forward. A catio set up could be a great middle ground where the kittens can have outdoor enrichment. The tree kittens are available for pre-adoption. Come meet them, fall in love and take them home after their spay and neuter surgeries. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Meet Lightning and Thunder! These two kittens came to the Shelter as underage stray kittens, so we don’t know much about her life before the Shelter. They spent some time in a foster home getting big and strong to prepare them for adoption. Both kitties are still a little timid so a cat-savvy, patient adopter would be the best fit for them. To keep them (and our local wildlife) safe, an indoor only home is recommended for these guys. They are not required to be adopted together, but could be. A home with other animals may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. Story
Meet Big Boy, the big boy of a black cat. Big Boy came to the Shelter after his previous guardians were unable to continue caring for him. He lived with two other cats and did well. With strangers, Big Boy was fearful and would hid under the bed. He did well with the 9 year old child in the home. Big Boy was indoors only in his previous home and used his litterbox reliably. Big Boy`s adoption fee is reduced by $20 thanks to the Bogey Fund - a fund that draws adopter`s eyes towards often overlooked black cats in the Shelter waiting for the purrfect home. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week!
