Story
Ashlyn is a chill, lovable, and spunky young cat who brings so much personality into a room. I rescued her from our local SPCA when she was just 6 weeks old, and she has grown into an affectionate companion who loves attention and being around people. In August 2025, when Ashlyn was 11 months old, she experienced her first seizures. She was rushed to the emergency hospital for overnight care, and since then she has been under ongoing veterinary and neurology supervision. After months of medication adjustments, bloodwork, and specialist visits, she most likely has epilepsy. Her neurologist has recommended MRI and spinal tap to rule out other causes, but unfortunately those costs are beyond what I can manage. Making this decision has been extremely difficult. As a full-time student working part-time, the financial responsibility of Ashlyn’s medical care has become more than I can sustain. I love her deeply, which is why I’m searching for a home where she can continue to thrive.

Meet Jackson, the 3 year old male white and grey tabby! This shy boy came in with his two kitty friends who have been staying together in the shelter. He has been described as sweet with strangers by his previous owner, but he’s been timid here in the shelter. He will need a loving and patient family who will be willing to let him decompress and warm up to his new home. These kitties lived with large dogs in their previous home and did well, so a slow introduction with any resident dog may be an option!Jackson is available for preadoption - come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Meet Sissy, the fluffy grey and white tabby! She came in with her two kitty friends: Little Sissy and Jackson. They have been living together nicely at the shelter, but they are happy to go to separate loving homes. Sissy is the shyest of the bunch, but with time and affection she may be your new best friend.
