Hi humans! I am Skye. I came from a rescue called Animal Rescue Corps, from Tennessee. I had 6 babies, though they have all found their homes! They traveled with me from TN when they were just a couple days old. I was also in foster with them so I am still a little confused as to why I ended up back in the shelter?! I did well with my foster mom but to be honest, I am still getting used to the humans at HP. My HP story started back in June of 2024, when I first went into foster. I am a girl that is going to take a little longer to trust my human, though I think when I make that bond, it will be a strong one! I LOVE the other kitties. It is common to see me cuddling with my girlfriend Berkley! We also play together and enjoy grooming each other. I do like to play as well, especially with wand toys. The humans aren`t sure what my past looked like, but I deserve a chance just as much as the other kitties! Bonding with me will be extra rewarding and imagine how special you`re going to feel when we become besties? Meet Katie! She came from a shelter in Southern Illinois. She`s an adorable, compact girl being mostly a brown tabby, with a white chest and feet, and the cutest pink nose! Katie is a little different than your average cat. After she arrived at Helping Paws, it was noticed that her tail is fully limp. After further investigation by our vet, it`s determined that she has nerve damage in her back end and her tail is completely paralyzed. This does not stop her from jumping up and down or from zooming around the room! Katie is on a limited diet, and her wet food does contain a laxative which she will most likely need for life. We do recommend that she continues to use clay litter. Every now and then she`ll leave a tiny poop behind but she does her best to stay clean! Katie is a playful, silly, and a little bit sassy of a kitty who is looking for a special someone to give her a second chance. She still has a kitten side to her, and loves kneading and suckling on her blankies for comfort. She is hilarious and happy despite her differences, and will absolutely spice up your life! UPDATE 3-17-26: Our handsomest boy has really blossomed since being with us. Not only physically - growing a lush and long coat - but also his personality! While Hopper is still a little cautious with new people, he really opens up when he knows you. He looves getting pets from the humans he knows and starts giving a little purr. He enjoys playing with the wand toys. Hopper really shows his personality when all is quiet; he cuddles with his kitty friends, wrestles with them, and waits at the kitty room door, observing the world he hasn`t adventured yet. Say hello to Morgan! Morgan came to HP from a shelter in Southern IL. She`s a beautiful Tortoiseshell, with a white chest, chin, and feet. She may look cranky but she`s a really friendly girl and loves humans! She does have a bit of `tortitude` when it comes to the other kitties; she does not mind being around them unless they are too close to her and in her bubble. She will definitely let them know! This works out for her because she would need to be an only cat, due to the viral infection she carries. This kitty likes to talk and her meow is raspy like she was a smoker in her past human life. Morgan kind of gives off a grandma vibe, which gives her a lot of personality! She`s a relaxed and calm girl, and can commonly be found lounging on a shelf with a blankie, or napping by the window. UPDATE 3-18-26: Our cute little girl has been really into playing lately! Her new play buddy is our older kitten, Dash. One of her favorite things to do is hide behind the tunnel or inside it, and rush him when he isn`t looking! She also loves our boy Hopper, and cuddles with him when no one is looking. Peach makes the cutest little sounds, sounding like a little bird asking a question. `Hmm???` Call us to meet this sweet girl!Peach has spent a lot of time and hard work taking care of kittens, and can`t wait to get the attention she deserves! She came to us from Southern IL, and got to take care of her four kittens in foster. She ended up becoming a surrogate momma to a 2nd litter of kittens, due to having no momma. Peachy is a quiet girl. When she does try to meow, it is very quiet and squeaky! She is very curious and enjoys exploring her space. Any lost, forgotten balls, will be found by her! UPDATE 3-18-26: Miss chonk April is such beautiful girl, and would make any family happy! She is the best of both worlds; sometimes lazy and curled up in a bed (well, maybe more than sometimes...), or she can feel a little spunky and playful. She does enjoy getting some pets and cuddles in, and may give you a tiny love bite (she means well!). April loves a lap and will crawl in and fall asleep! When it comes to the other kitties, she doesn`t really mind them as long as they stay away from her personal bubble.
