ABOUT RUSTY!
Meet Rusty, our handsome gentleman! This goodlooking fella came to HAP from a high-intake shelter down south, so we don't know a whole lot about his past. We can guess that he has been around humans before, since he thinks he's the HAP Offical Welcoming Committee. Anyone who enters our doors gets a Rusty on their lap in about .5 seconds!
Rusty LOVES his human friends, and he considers every human to be his friend. He loves to walk them into his chateu and show them all his fine luxuries. His personal gym (the cat wheel he never uses), his luxury king sized bed with goose downy feathers (dog bed with one blanket from TJ Maxx), his priceless art pieces (fingerpaintings the local school did of him), he has it all and is more than happy to share the wealth with his friends!
When he isn't hosting, Rusty enjoys living life to the fullest. Plenty of naps, plenty of treats, plenty of shoving his cat friends off whatever cat tree he wants to be on.
Rusty is a man of dignity and easy social graces, a man who understands how fleeting life can be and how hard his life had been. So if you need a lesson on appreciating the finer things in life, you should come visit Rusty, so he can impart some wisdom on you.
*Rusty is FIV+, which means his autoimmune system is compromised. This means if he gets sick, he may be sicker for longer. This is only contagious to other cats and only through deep bites.
Rusty has an enlarged heart, which he takes daily medication for. This hasn't impacted his quality of life so far.
*Rusty does okay with other cats, but he would be perfectly happy being the only one. We think he would be fine with dogs, and he loves children!
*If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.
