Story
We adopted Beef as a kitten from a local individual. He was about 4 weeks old when we got him a year ago. Beef is very playful and would love a home with lots of space and windows. He loves watching the birds and squirrels in our backyard. I’d describe Beef as playful but quiet, we are looking to rehome him because we just had a newborn who is allergic to him. We are devastated and hope we can find him a new home where he is just as loved.

Story
Smokey is a sweetheart of a cat who had a rough start in life. He was removed from a hoarding situation with 20 cats in a small apartment. He very rarely received any attention or affection and spent most of his time hiding in a kitchen cabinet. In spite of this, he is a super loving, affectionate, and gentle cat. It took him a few days to feel safe in a foster home, but once he came out of his shell, he can't get enough pets and affection. He gives head butts for more pets or jumps up to touch his head to your palm to signal that he would like More Petting Please! He isn't a pest about it, however, and will happily curl up on the couch beside you or on the floor or a cozy bed while you work, watch tv, read, etc. He is an all-around good-natured cat who gets along well with other cats and would probably be okay with a calm, cat-savvy dog, with a slow and careful introduction. Smokey would do best in a calm household with people who want to show him the affection he missed out in in his first couple of years of life. He is all black except for the toes of one foot, which look like he dipped them in a can of white paint.

Story
Meet Parker! 🎬 Scroll through pictures to see video! Parker is a sweet, charming girl! She is the perfect housemate and knows exactly how to make every day feel special. Once she has settled in to her new home, she will greet you at the door when you get home with a little meow or chirp. She may give you the special meow which means she would like you to sit down so she can jump up and sit in your lap. She will make some biscuits for a bit and then settle down to relax in your lap. She is definitely a talker and loves when you talk back! When she's feeling playful, she's a fan of wand toys, crinkly balls, and a good scratch board loaded with catnip. She also loves to be brushed! Parker would thrive as the star of a calm, quiet home — ideally as the only pet, where she can blossom at her own pace with patient people who love a lap cat. She may take a little time to warm up, but her foster says the payoff is absolutely worth it. Parker has a urinary condition that's well-managed with some simple care — which just means she'll do best in a lower-stress environment and with a little extra attention to her routine. Our adoption team would love to walk you through everything!

Story
Misu came to us with her kitten, Ash, who is also looking for a home, and now this sweet mama is ready to find a loving home of her own! Misu is a super sweet, friendly, and affectionate girl who loves getting head pets and being close to her people. She’s an active and playful kitty who enjoys exploring and going on little adventures. Misu likes to be near you and be part of whatever you’re doing, but she’s not necessarily a “sit on top of you” kind of girl—she’s happiest keeping you company by your side. Misu previously lived with another adult cat who bullied her, so she would do best with a slow and patient introduction to any resident cats in her new home. With time and the right introduction, she may be able to make new feline friends. If you’re looking for a loving, playful companion with a sweet personality and a little adventurous spirit, Misu may be the perfect girl for you! Ready To Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org.
