Story

This is sunny and Stormi! They are a pair, they have to go with eachother, they are the sweetest most affectionate cats I’ve ever had. Stomri is definitely more shy while Sunny loves attention. I recently had to move and the new landlord does not allow cats. I’m so sad to have to give them up, they are the best pets I’ve ever had and deserve the best home

Story

Mickey is a sweet orange tabby who will be 2 years old in November. He is a "shadow" cat who loves to be at your feet, rubbing up against your legs and purring whenever he’s close to you. We are looking for a new home for Mickey because he has recently developed some anxiety-based behavioral challenges that our current busy schedules don't allow us to manage as well as he deserves.Mickey is:• Affectionate and loves being near his humans• Anxious in new environments and may hide or lose his appetite at first• Experiencing a recent issue with urinating on mats/rugs near doorways• Confirmed healthy by a vet (UTI and other medical issues have been ruled out)• Neutered and litter box trainedMickey will warm up with routine and gentle play. Since his behavioral issues began, he has been secluded to one room and only has 3-4 hours to roam each day, so he would truly benefit from a fresh start with a family that has more time to give him the love and attention he deserves.

Barn Cats

Story

Our barn cat program is for our cats that take part in the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program but can't be returned to their communities because of danger or lack of care. These are our less social cats that don't crave the company of people, at least at this point in their lives. These cats are peaceful, easy to care for, and make friends easily with other farm animals. Pictured is our lovely Chula who was adopted as a mouser for the family chicken coop. The family followed the relocation instructions and Chula became queen of the land! Like Chula, many families that have adopted a barn cat report that the cats have become friendly over time and bonded with the other animals as well has the people. Most often, the cats are delivered in pairs by our volunteer that settle the cats in and provide instructions for you to follow. All agree that it is very rewarding to give a home and freedom to a less fortunate cat who just by chance was born without a human hand. Please fill out our application from our website and call 860-479-5173. Thank you!

Story

Freedom is a stunning 16 week old Maine Coon mix. Now that her very outgoing sisters have gone home, we can really see the sweetness and beauty of her personality. Freedom is sensitive and sweet. She loves to nurture the scared kittens such as Larry. She saw that Larry was nervous at our showing so she laid next to him and put her paws on him. A sweetheart! She can be paired with her brother Justice or our adorable scared kittens Larry if you do not have other pets. Freedom is fully vetted. She's had her distemper and two boosters, rabies and spayed at a small fee of $250, four times less then if you fully vetted her yourself. Please fill out an application at www.hucatrescue.org. Story

Oscar is a sweet young boy that was neglected and left to wonder as so many young males do if they are not neutered. Luckily for him that he is so friendly and found help right away by crying at a nice person's home. He is adorable; social, vocal, easygoing, fine with other cats. A wonderful boy. Oscar does test positive for FIV antibodies. Only 3% of cats actually develop active FIV. More cats pass away of cancers and there is no test for those so we hope his positive result will not detour you from offering this sweet boy a home. He can live with non positive cats because Oscar does not fight. Please fill out an application for Oscar on our website at www.hucatrescue.org. Thank you!
