Story
Our barn cat program is for our cats that take part in the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program but can't be returned to their communities because of danger or lack of care. These are our less social cats that don't crave the company of people, at least at this point in their lives. These cats are peaceful, easy to care for, and make friends easily with other farm animals. Pictured is our lovely Chula who was adopted as a mouser for the family chicken coop. The family followed the relocation instructions and Chula became queen of the land! Like Chula, many families that have adopted a barn cat report that the cats have become friendly over time and bonded with the other animals as well has the people. Most often, the cats are delivered in pairs by our volunteer that settle the cats in and provide instructions for you to follow. All agree that it is very rewarding to give a home and freedom to a less fortunate cat who just by chance was born without a human hand. Please fill out our application from our website and call 860-479-5173. Thank you!

Story
Mona Lisa is our gorgeous, young mama cat. She came to us with six kittens. She also nurtured some kittens that were not hers. Mona is a love! She is affectionate, happy, grateful and she loves attention. Mona is always right there with her foster mom and dad. She also made friends easily their two cats , Bear and Fiona. She even charmed Fiona who is not nice to any cats. Mona occasionally does the 'test swatting' where she will slap you to see if she can trust you. Those are becoming more rare though as her survival guard is down and she is enjoying life without a care. She's really a wonderful girl and a little gem. Please fill out an application for our beautify on our website at www.hucatrescue.org. Thank you!

Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Layla was my grandfather’s cat. He was no longer able to take care of her. So I took her in for the time being. I have two other cats in my home however, she has been an only cat her entire life. I have tried to get my cats and her used to each other but it just has not worked out I’ve tried for about 6 ish months. currently she is confined to one room in my home but deserves a better life than that. She is a very beautiful and sweet cat, but is very on edge/ scared when relocating and will take a short time to get comfortable in a new placement.

Story
Hi, I’m Ember! I’m a beautiful Bombay kittie who is four years old 🐈‍⬛. Although I’m not a kitten, I am still young without all the hyperactivity. My current owner is having medical issues and sadly needs to rehome me as soon as possible. I’m skittish but also curious. Once I get to know you I will become your best friend, but please be patient with me. I'm very clean kitty. I love cat towers, window perches, and I love looking out of the window watching the squirrels and birds. I also love to play with ball toys. I like my wet cat food, dry cat food, cat grass, and of course treats. Unfortunately, I do not do well with small children and dogs, they scare me. Thank you for taking the time to read about me, i’m hoping I could be a wonderful additional family member for you.
