Story
This is Lester and suki, Lester is a Maine Coon who is fiv positive he is up to date on his vet care, and no health issues. Lester is bonded with suki they have been together all their lives. So we will not separate them they must go as a pair. They were surrendered due to their previous owner passing away which is very sad, they are in a great foster home and doing great. They are very friendly and love their pets, they have been with us awhile. It's so sad because all they want is a place to call home!! Don't let the Fiv scare you people cannot contact it or dogs it is only contacted thru blood from another cat or sexual contact. Lester and suki have lived together their whole lives, and suki does not have fiv.and they are a bonded pair.

Story
Smokey is a sweetheart of a cat who had a rough start in life. He was removed from a hoarding situation with 20 cats in a small apartment. He very rarely received any attention or affection and spent most of his time hiding in a kitchen cabinet. In spite of this, he is a super loving, affectionate, and gentle cat. It took him a few days to feel safe in a foster home, but once he came out of his shell, he can't get enough pets and affection. He gives head butts for more pets or jumps up to touch his head to your palm to signal that he would like More Petting Please! He isn't a pest about it, however, and will happily curl up on the couch beside you or on the floor or a cozy bed while you work, watch tv, read, etc. He is an all-around good-natured cat who gets along well with other cats and would probably be okay with a calm, cat-savvy dog, with a slow and careful introduction. Smokey would do best in a calm household with people who want to show him the affection he missed out in in his first couple of years of life. He is all black except for the toes of one foot, which look like he dipped them in a can of white paint.

Story
🎬 Swipe through the photos to see Miss Kitty in action! Miss Kitty is a sweet, confident lady with the most expressive face — one look at her and you just know there is a lot of love in there waiting for the right person. And when she finds them? She makes sure they know it. She weaves between your legs, melts into gentle head scratches, and will treat you to the most enthusiastic air biscuits you have ever seen. The joy she feels around a calm, gentle person is written all over her. When she has had enough pets she will give a polite little swat to let you know it is time for a break. Her ideal family will speak fluent cat and love her all the more for it. When she is not supervising her humans, Miss Kitty loves to play. Wand toys, catnip filled toys, and pipe cleaners are her absolute favorites — she will chase, pounce, and show off her skills with full commitment. After a good play session she is happy to settle into the simple pleasures: a cozy nap and a good meal. Miss Kitty would thrive as the star of a calm adult home with people who understand and respect feline body language. She has not met other cats yet and can be nervous around dogs, so she would do best as the only pet. Miss Kitty is currently in a loving foster home and cannot wait to hear from you. Call or email us today to learn more! (413) 781-4000 x1 or springfield@dakinhumane.org. We return all voicemails and emails within 24 hours.

Story
Meet Parker! 🎬 Scroll through pictures to see video! This gorgeous, quietly charming girl is ready to find her perfect soft landing. Parker is the kind of cat who will work her way into your heart, slowly at first, and once she does, she's all in. Her foster says she loves to settle on your lap, make biscuits, and purr while you watch TV. She'll greet you with a little meow or chirp, rubs up against you for full-body pets and knows exactly how to make an evening feel cozy. When she's feeling playful, she's a fan of wand toys, crinkly balls, and a good scratch board loaded with catnip. She's an equal-opportunity lover of both cuddles and independent entertainment. Parker would thrive as the star of a calm, quiet home — ideally as the only pet, where she can blossom at her own pace with patient people who love a lap cat. She may take a little time to warm up, but her foster says the payoff is absolutely worth it. Parker has a urinary condition that's well-managed with some simple care — which just means she'll do best in a lower-stress environment and with a little extra attention to her routine. Our adoption team would love to walk you through everything! Parker is currently in a loving foster home and cannot wait to hear from you. Call or email us today to learn more! Story
Scroll to see my video! Mikey came from a home with several other cats. These sweet kitties can be shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience and time to settle in, personalities begin to come out. Because they enjoy the company of other cats, they should do well in homes with feline friends as long as adopters provide a slow introduction. He is a shy boy who needs someone who will be patient and gain his trust. He does enjoy pets from his foster caregivers, especially cheek rubs. They say he is scared but sweet, and clearly wants to be loved. The cat you are adopting is very shy. Patience and a gentle approach will be necessary to form a bond and help this cat feel that they are safe in their new environment. This means that the cat is likely to not want to interact with you at first and will need time to settle in and relax. It is likely to take weeks to months for this cat to become comfortable in your home. Even once settled, they may always be a shy cat who runs from visitors. In order to have the best chance at creating a lasting bond with your new cat, you must go at their pace. When you get home, this cat should be set up in one room of your home, with a door that will stay shut while the cat adjusts. They should be offered a variety of foods and plenty of appropriate hiding places to help them feel safe during this transition. The cat should not be let out of their room until they seem like they are making progress and seem to want to explore more of the house. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.
