Story
Artemis is a gorgeous little tuxedo kitten with a celestial name and a heart full of wonder. She arrived at our shelter alongside her brother, Arlo, after being transferred from an overcrowded facility. Arlo has already been adopted and now it’s Artemis’s time to shine! Like the moon goddess she's named after—and the ambitious NASA mission reaching for the stars—Artemis is curious, independent and full of potential. She loves to pounce on toys, scale cat trees like a space explorer and curl up in the sun like she’s charging her solar panels. Her playful energy and endless curiosity are everything you'd expect from a young kitten just beginning her journey. 🐱 A Note About Her Health: You may notice that Artemis has a health waiver in her file. She tested FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), which we know can sound concerning at first—but here’s what that really means: * FIV is not contagious to people or dogs. * It is typically spread between outdoor cats through deep bite wounds. * Kittens can test positive due to their mothers. As she grows, there’s a chance that antiobodies from her mother may result in FIV negative status in the future. Our adoption consultant will walk you through everything you need to know and answer any questions. The most important thing to know is this: FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, love-filled lives with regular vet care, a safe indoor home and lots of affection just like any other cat. Artemis isn’t just a name—it’s a promise. A promise of adventure, beauty and a love that’s written in the stars. The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

Story
Ozzy is a sleek black cat with a tipped ear that tells part of his story. He was once part of a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program, a survivor of the streets who's now ready for something better: a forever home. Estimated to be around 4 years old, Ozzy is past the wild kitten chaos but still full of personality. In fact, he will let you know when he has something to say— he’s a bit of a talker, meowing for attention. When he wants your company, he’ll brush up against you with all the charm of a cat who knows exactly what he wants. What Ozzy Loves: * Chin scratches and gentle pets * Rubbing up against his favorite humans * Being part of the action (on his own terms!) * Having conversations with you — he’s got a lot of opinions! Ozzy enjoys affection, but doesn’t appreciate being overhandled or having his safe spaces invaded. He’s independent, a little sassy and totally okay setting his boundaries. Because of this, we recommend that Ozzy go to a home without children under the age of 12, where his communication style will be respected and understood. FIV+ –What It Really Means Ozzy has tested FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but don’t let that scare you away. It cannot be spread to humans or dogs and is most commonly transmitted through deep bite wounds of outdoor cats competing for limited resources. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy and happy lives with regular vet care, good nutrition and a safe indoor environment. Our adoption consultant will be happy to talk with you in depth about FIV and what it means for Ozzy’s care, so you’ll feel fully informed and supported. Why Adopt Ozzy? He’s charming, chatty, independent, and affectionate in his own unique way. With a bit of patience and a whole lot of love, Ozzy will reward you with companionship, head bumps and a voice that makes sure you’ll never feel alone in the room. And while he shares a name (and a bit of attitude) with the Prince of Darkness (Ozzy Osbourne) himself, this Ozzy is more into cozy naps and chin scratches than rock concerts—though he might still meow like he’s headlining Madison Square Garden. Story
Sucar is a striking soul in search of serenity. With his soft gray and white coat and piercing amber eyes, Sucar is more than just a handsome young cat. He’s a spirit all his own. His name means “sweet” in Romani. Sucar was surrendered to us in mid-July. Since arriving, he’s shown incredible resilience while being treated for a common upper respiratory infection and an intestinal parasite. Now fully recovered, he’s ready to find a place he can finally call home. Sucar enjoys gentle affection, but it has been noted that he can become easily over-stimulated. Because of this, he’ll thrive best in a calm, peaceful environment where he can feel safe and understood. A home with a quiet, zen-like energy would be ideal for helping him truly settle in. He will do best in an adult only home or one where there are older kids/teens He’s looking for a patient, empathetic person who respects the pace of trust and connection. If you're someone who appreciates the quiet beauty of a cat with both charm and sensitivity, Sucar may be the sweet companion you’ve been waiting for. Come meet Sucar and let his golden eyes and tender spirit speak to your heart. Story
Introducing Olive and Olivia, a bonded sister duo who are looking for a calm and loving home together. These two were surrendered at the start of September and have just recently become available for adoption. While our volunteers are still getting to know their individual personalities, one thing is crystal clear: they are deeply bonded and must be adopted as a pair. Olive is a sleek black beauty with a touch of flair. She has white whiskers that add just the right pop of contrast to her elegant look. Olivia is a soft gray stunner with light green eyes that seem to glow with quiet curiosity. As young kittens, Olive and Olivia rely on each other for comfort and confidence. They’ll do best in a patient, understanding home where they’re allowed to settle in at their own pace. With time, space and gentle encouragement, we believe these girls will blossom into affectionate companions. If you’ve got room in your heart for two quiet souls who just need a little time to feel safe, Olive and Olivia may be the perfect match. Come meet this lovely pair and help them write their next chapter together. Story
Straight out of the Metroparks and into our hearts, Petrie is a little survivor with a big personality. He and his brother Little Foot (yes, the Land Before Time duo!) were brought to us by a local police department in mid-September after being found fending for themselves. While Little Foot has already found his forever family, Petrie is still searching. During his time in one of our loving foster homes, Petrie showed his true colors and they’re bright, bold and wonderfully lively. This boy is happy, active and absolutely full of life. If your home has been feeling a little too quiet lately, just add Petrie and watch the adventure begin! He loves to race around, explore every corner and energize a room with his playful spirit. Petrie played beautifully with his brother and got along well with the adult cats in the foster home. He’s also been exposed to dogs and did great, so a friendly canine companion would be totally fine with him after a proper introduction. Whether it’s another pet or a fun-loving human, Petrie thrives with buddies who enjoy zoomies and playtime. If you’re ready to welcome a kitten whose heart is as big as his imagination, Petrie is the one. He will fill your home with laughter, motion and prehistoric-level charm! Adopt Petrie and let this tiny dino-hearted kitten help your home evolve into something even more wonderful. 🦕💛 The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com.
