Meet a gentle longhaired soul in search of a forever hero. Lulu is a tender female who came to us in mid-November after being found as a stray by a kind Good Samaritan. Unfortunately, her rescuer couldn’t keep her due to having other pets and limited space. Lulu’s journey to safety didn’t end there and she was brought to ARF. She’s now looking for a special someone to help her feel truly at home. Lulu’s soft, luxurious coat will need regular brushing to stay tangle-free. This will be a perfect opportunity for bonding and quiet moments together. She is very shy and easily frightened, so she needs an adopter willing to go slow, watch her body language and follow her lead as she learns to trust again. When Lulu first arrived, she hid and slept in her litter box, crouched down, fearful of everything around her. She’s made some progress and now feels a bit safer sleeping just behind it. Our specially trained TLC volunteers have been working with Lulu to show her that people can be gentle and loving. They have also been working on proving to her that there is safety and comfort in human companionship. She will thrive in a quiet home without loud noises or too much activity and with an adopter who is patient, confident and willing to be her steady guide. We don’t know what hardships Lulu faced while fending for herself on the streets. But one thing is clear, she is ready for a forever hero who will offer her love, patience and security. Lulu may be shy now, but with the right person, her heart will open and she will learn that a gentle hand can bring warmth, safety and comfort to a life that has known so little of it. Sucar is a striking soul in search of serenity. With his soft gray and white coat and piercing amber eyes, Sucar is more than just a handsome young cat. He’s a spirit all his own. His name means “sweet” in Romani. Sucar was surrendered to us in mid-July. Since arriving, he’s shown incredible resilience while being treated for a common upper respiratory infection and an intestinal parasite. Now fully recovered, he’s ready to find a place he can finally call home. Sucar enjoys gentle affection, but it has been noted that he can become easily over-stimulated. Because of this, he’ll thrive best in a calm, peaceful environment where he can feel safe and understood. A home with a quiet, zen-like energy would be ideal for helping him truly settle in. He will do best in an adult only home or one where there are older kids/teens. Sucar is other cat selective, or somewhat picky about his cat pals. He’s looking for a patient, empathetic person who respects the pace of trust and connection. Josie is a sleek, stunning 5 year old with soulful eyes, a heart full of love and just waiting for the right person to notice her. This sweet girl came to us mid-January after a run of tough luck. Josie originally belonged to an elderly owner who had to move into a nursing home. She was then lovingly taken in by another senior community member, who sadly also needed to enter a nursing facility. Through no fault of her own, Josie found herself without a place to call home. She spent time in a foster home before arriving at ARF and that’s where her true personality began to shine. Josie arrived with declawed front paws, so she’s looking for a calm, indoor-only home where she can feel safe and secure. She also needs to be an only cat. She is on the shy side at first, but give her a little patience and she will reward you tenfold. Once you start petting her, the purrs start immediately. She’s an absolute purring machine. She’s incredibly affectionate, gentle and clearly craves to bond deeply with her people. She’s also very tidy and reliable with her litter box. She's a lady through and through. One especially charming detail? Josie seems to enjoy and maybe even prefer the company of men. In foster care, she often tried to hop right into her foster dad’s lap, clearly campaigning for cuddles. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving companion who will settle into your home and your heart, Josie may be your perfect match. Connie came to us at the end of June as a transfer from an overcrowded shelter that was in urgent need of space. When she arrived, it was clear she needed a little extra TLC. She was battling a common feline respiratory infection and had an upset tummy that took some time (and a lot of care!) to get under control. After some dedicated support and patience, we were able to identify the right diet that keeps Connie feeling her best. Now, she’s thriving and she’s finally ready to find a forever home. Because of her dietary needs, Connie is available for adoption through our Adoption Consultant. This ensures that her adopter will receive all the information they need, including detailed guidance about her food and ongoing care. We want Connie and her future family to be set up for success right from the start. 💬 Think of Connie’s needs like a person with a gluten intolerance or food allergy. It’s just part of who she is and with the right routine, it’s completely manageable. We hope adopters see her for the loving, playful cat she is and not just her special dietary requirement. A few important things to know about Connie: * She’s not a fan of dogs, so she’ll need a canine-free home. * She’s incredibly sweet, social and affectionate.
