Story
🦇 HOLY ADOPTABLE CAT, BATMAN! 🦇 Looking for a hero to save your couch from loneliness? Meet Batman, a stunning 2 year old male with a sleek black coat, piercing green eyes and a white patch on his chest that looks remarkably like the Superman crest. We know it’s a little confusing for a superhero, but Batman wears it well. 😉 Batman joined us in mid-April after being transferred from a veterinary clinic in Indiana. Since arriving, he’s been working through a bit of an upset tummy, which we've been managing with routine probiotics and a specific diet in order to keep his tummy troubles in his past. Because of this, you’ll notice a note in his file that he is available through our adoption consultant. This simply allows us to answer any questions you may have before he heads home with his new family. While the greater Cleveland area may not be Gotham City, it’s still the perfect place for Batman to put down some roots and begin his next chapter. We would love nothing more than to see him settle into a forever home before the calendar flips to July. Come meet Batman in one of our "get acquainted" rooms and spend some quality time together. One look into those emerald-green eyes and you may discover this caped crusader is the hero your heart has been waiting for. 💚🐾 The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Story
Orange tabby cats have long been some of the most beloved felines in pop culture. From famous cartoon cats to scene-stealing movie and television pets, orange tabbies are often portrayed as friendly, outgoing, affectionate, and full of personality. While every cat is an individual, orange tabbies have earned a reputation for being social companions who love spending time with their people and George is a wonderful example of why these cats have captured so many hearts. George is a handsome orange tabby who is just a year and a half old. He came to ARF in mid-May after a local grassroots rescue stepped in to help him find a better future. Before his rescue, George repeatedly showed up at the home of a Good Samaritan. In fact, he visited so often that it seemed as though he was trying to tell someone something. Time and again, George appeared at the door, seemingly begging to be let inside. Recognizing that this friendly cat clearly didn't belong on the streets, the Samaritan contacted a local grassroots rescue for help. The rescue was able to safely secure George and scan him for a microchip. Unfortunately, he was not microchipped or neutered. Efforts were made to locate an owner, but no one came forward to claim him. As a result, George was transferred to ARF, where he could safely wait for the loving forever home he deserves. Since arriving, George has been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Now all he needs is a family to call his own. George has already shown that he would much rather be inside with people than fending for himself outdoors. If you're looking for a young, handsome tabby with a sweet personality and a lot of love to give, George may be the perfect addition to your family. After all, he spent weeks knocking on the right door. Maybe now he's waiting for you to open yours. The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Story
Vivie arrived at ARF at the beginning of June from an overcrowded shelter, needing a quieter, more comfortable environment to decompress. Her history before that is unknown. Like so many shelter cats, she simply found herself without a clear story of how she ended up there. What we do know is that she’s safe now, settling in and beginning to show her bright, youthful personality. Vivie is a tortoiseshell cat which is often called a “tortie.” Torties are known for their striking, marbled coats made up of a mix of black, orange and cream colors blended together in a patchwork or brindled pattern. No two torties look alike. Each one wears a completely unique coat, almost like a living mosaic. In cat lore, torties are often associated with bold personalities and a spirited, expressive nature which sometimes is lovingly referred to as “tortitude,” though every cat is an individual. The name Vivie is often associated with life and liveliness, stemming from roots related to the Latin word vivus, meaning “alive” or “full of life.” It’s also used as a nickname for names like Vivienne or Vivian, which carry the same sense of vitality. It suits her beautifully because even in her adjustment period, there’s a clear sense that Vivie is a petite cat full of potential, curiosity and quiet spark just waiting for the right home to help her shine. At a young age, Vivie is still learning about the world and finding her footing. That makes her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys watching a cat grow in confidence and personality. She has the playful curiosity of youth, mixed with the resilience of a cat who has already adapted to a big change in her life. With patience and love, she’s likely to blossom into a deeply affectionate and entertaining companion. Vivie is now looking for a home that will give her stability, kindness and time to fully come into her own. In return, she offers something special: a one-of-a-kind tortie spirit wrapped in a uniquely beautiful coat and a name that means she’s meant for a life full of love. Story
Meet Rowena, a young mother who’s finally ready for a life of her own. Before coming to ARF, Rowena was surviving outdoors on her own. A local grassroots rescue noticed this sweet, friendly girl and safely brought her in, but quickly realized she had recently given birth and her kittens were nowhere to be found. Knowing her babies were still out there depending on her, the rescue made the compassionate decision to release Rowena so she could return to them. Thankfully, the little family resurfaced later and the rescue team was able to safely secure Rowena along with her three kittens: Sammi, Ruby and Dean. The entire family made their way to ARF, where Rowena settled into a loving foster home to safely raise her babies. She has done an incredible job caring for her kittens, despite being so young herself. Now that her babies are old enough to become independent and remain in foster care, Rowena has been spayed and officially given the green light to find a forever home of her own. After everything she’s been through, Rowena deserves a life filled with soft beds, full bowls, sunny windows, and people who will love and protect her. No more worrying about where her next meal will come from. No more dangerous street life. Just safety, comfort and affection. Rowena is a friendly, resilient girl who’s ready to leave survival mode behind and finally be someone’s beloved companion. Could you be the happy ending this young momma has been waiting for? The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Meet Liberty —The Goofy Playful Pal Who’s Always Up For A Good Time! If you’re looking for a cat who’s all about fun, games and some serious bird-watching action, Liberty is the guy for you! He’s a high-energy, goofy little ball of joy who absolutely lives for toys. Feather wands? He’s there. Laser pointers? Good luck keeping up! When he’s not chasing his latest play thing, he’ll be glued to the window, keeping a close eye on the local bird population like the stealthy feline detective he is. Liberty may be a playful whirlwind, but he does need a calm, loving home where he can thrive. He’s on a simple, inexpensive medication to help him from getting over - stimulated due to feline hyperesthesia, and this volunteer favorite is looking for a solo home (no other pets) where he can be the star of the show. He’s got a ton of love to give, he’s ready to shower it all on his perfect human. If you’re looking for a goofy, playful, and loving companion who’s always up for some fun, Liberty might just be your new best friend! Liberty is available for adoption through our Foster to Adopt Program. This means that he can go home with the right person as a foster on a trial basis for a pre-determined length of time to see if Liberty is in fact the perfect fit for the adopter's home. At the end of the trial period, if both parties agree, Liberty's temporary foster placement would transition officially into his adoptive home. Please email our adoption consultant at arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com to set up a meet and greet or to ask for further details.
