Buddy is a sleek, all-black “house panther” with a big heart. He arrived at our ARF in mid-April through a local grassroots rescue after being abandoned by his owners alongside his sisters, Elizabeth and Emily, when the family moved away and left them behind to fend for themselves. Despite such a difficult start, Buddy hasn’t let the experience dim his spirit. He is the most outgoing and confident of the trio. In fact, Buddy is especially devoted to his sister Emily, providing her with comfort and confidence whenever she feels unsure. Their bond is truly special, which is why Buddy and Emily must be adopted together. Sadly, black cats (and dogs) are often overlooked in shelters in favor of lighter-colored pets, even though they are just as loving, playful and wonderful as any other animal. Buddy is here to prove that black cats are pure magic. They are full of charm, affection and personality. Hardy is a sweet male tuxedo cat with the most adorable pink nose and the longest white whiskers you've ever seen! He arrived here with his brother, Spitfire, in mid-March, after being transferred from an overcrowded shelter that needed space. While Hardy and Spitfire don’t need to be adopted together, we always like to mention when littermates come in as a pair, in case you're interested in giving two brothers a home! When Hardy first arrived, he was understandably a little unsure of his new surroundings. Moving from one shelter to another can be overwhelming and we know that it takes some time for him to settle in. But don’t let his initial shyness fool you because he’s a sweet boy with a lot of love to give once he feels comfortable. Hardy is still learning to trust, but we have no doubt that once he feels safe and secure in a forever home, his true personality will shine through. Meet Rowena, a young mother who’s finally ready for a life of her own. Before coming to ARF, Rowena was surviving outdoors on her own. A local grassroots rescue noticed this sweet, friendly girl and safely brought her in, but quickly realized she had recently given birth and her kittens were nowhere to be found. Knowing her babies were still out there depending on her, the rescue made the compassionate decision to release Rowena so she could return to them. Thankfully, the little family resurfaced later and the rescue team was able to safely secure Rowena along with her three kittens: Sammi, Ruby and Dean. The entire family made their way to ARF, where Rowena settled into a loving foster home to safely raise her babies. She has done an incredible job caring for her kittens, despite being so young herself. Now that her babies are old enough to become independent and remain in foster care, Rowena has been spayed and officially given the green light to find a forever home of her own. After everything she’s been through, Rowena deserves a life filled with soft beds, full bowls, sunny windows, and people who will love and protect her. No more worrying about where her next meal will come from. No more dangerous street life. Just safety, comfort and affection.
