Meet our sweet, beautiful girl who is looking for a loving forever home. She is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and loves being around her people. Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys playing, cuddling, relaxing next to you, and even watching TV together. She previously lived peacefully with another cat, so she may do well in a home with a friendly feline companion. Unfortunately, our busy home with two young boys has become very stressful for her. She is frightened by the constant activity and spends most of the day hiding. Once the kids are asleep, she comes out and becomes her true, loving self—following us around, asking for attention, and soaking up every moment together. She would thrive in a calm, quiet home where she can feel safe and confident. We truly believe that in the right environment she will blossom into an amazing companion. This decision has not been easy, and our only goal is to find the home where she can be happiest.

We (me and my kids) adopted Leelah for the Independent Animal Rescue in Durham, NC in 2020 when she was a kitten. We adopted another kitten as well (from another home). She and her cat-mate have lived together until now, and moved with us to TN in 2021. Her cat-mate recently had to be put down, sadly. My own physical and mental health have deteriorated to the point that I am no longer able to care for Leelah. Leelah is an excellent lap cap and loves to curl up and take a nap on you. She loves to look out the window at birds and will chitter at them. She butts your head gently to tell you she cares for you, and rubs against your legs and purrs. She loves getting scratched and petted. She is a very sweet kitty and trots up to anyone who comes in. I would love for her to be welcomed by someone who will love and care for her.

Say hello to Iceman. Iceman is a sweet quiet young man who is looking for a patient home. He actually loves being in your lap but needs a home willing to give him time to settle in and who understands he wants to ask for attention vs receive it randomly. He absolutely loves other cats, particularly other friendly playful cats, and would make a great companion for another young cat or kitten. Iceman is a quiet shy cat who's had a rough life in his 1.3 years. Iceman was originally with FOR as a kitten, was adopted and when he was about 8 months, he was diagnosed with FIP. FIP is considered fatal, however there is an experimental treatment that shows a lot of promise and his adopters decided to get him started with it. Part way through the 3 month treatment, they decided to release him back to FOR, and he's been in a foster home since then. He completed his initial 3 months of treatment and completed a 3 month monitor period and he is as healthy as they come. Once the three month period is over with no relapse, he is considered cured from FIP, making him an #FIPWarrior and #FIPSurvivor. He is listed as special needs because of the FIP in his past, although it is not expected to influence him again. The initial stages of FIP treatment are very painful, so he has anxiety about being approached and being grabbed. He is very happy to approach you and sit on your lap and be petted, but he wants it to be on his terms. Do you have a special place for Iceman? He's alive thanks to his treatment, he's healthy as can be and he just needs a kind and patient home who understands his quirks. He's fully vetted, neutered and ready to move on (preferably to home with a cat buddy too).
