The Chihuahua genes run strong in Sweet Caroline! This darling little girl will be 8 weeks old soon and ready to go home after 12/3. She can be a teensy weensy bit shy at first, but quickly warms up and loves the company of other dogs. She and her littermates entered the system at only a week or two old as part of a hoarding case. They were transferred to a rescue and were hand raised until 6 weeks of age, at which point they joined MHCR. Meet Oscar! Oscar is a 2 year old, 13 lbs, super playful guy that loves his canine foster siblings. He has a feisty play style and will be best suited in a home with another playful dog. He may be small in size, but he’s big in personality, as some small dogs can be. He brings spunk, sass, and constant entertainment to his foster home. Despite his love for fun, he’s also up for a good lap snuggle. He is crate trained (although he likes to sing if he knows you’re home) and he’s working on house training. Story
Clay (M) and Thumper (F) are a bonded pair of PomChi’s looking for a home. Clay is 8 and Thumper is 6 years old. They are both under 10 lbs with Clay at 8 lbs and Thumper at 7 lbs. These two are so sweet and cuddly. Wherever one goes the other is sure to follow. Their favorite spot is basking in the sun, working on their tans. Both seem to do well with their house training when they have outdoor access (a doggie door propped open) and also use puppy pads. Thumper isn’t fond of leash walking so we are seeking a home with a securely fenced in yard. These two would be fine as the only dogs in the home or joining an existing pack. A busy home likely not their jam. "Gemma, or Gem as we lovingly call her, is a survivor with the sweetest heart. At 5 years old, this little Chihuahua was found in a tire in a landfill caring for her 4 puppies. She found her way to Colorado where she has been learning that the good life is full of cozy blankets, friendly pets, and people who treat her with only kindness. When you’re away, she is perfectly content relaxing in her dog pen or on the couch. When you’re home, you can expect lots of snuggles with her dog friends and trusted humans, fun spurts of play with dogs and toys, and the sweetest little kisses you’ll ever receive. Gemma is a very shy girl who is still learning that she’s safe. Sudden movements or being approached too quickly can spook her, but each small moment of trust is a victory, and watching her bloom is pure magic. Once she starts to feel safe, she will greet you with wiggles and tail wags and demand chin scratches. The ideal environment for Gemma is a calm home without children and with at least 1 confident dog to help show her the ropes. She will also need a fenced yard to keep her safe, and a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. Gemma’s personality is still unfolding, but one thing is certain: with love and patience, this sweet little Gem will sparkle." Cooper is a beautiful little dude with super soft fur. He is almost 8 weeks old and will be available for adoption after 12/3. Coop is a total sweetheart and he’s always down for a game of tug with the leg of your favorite pair of pants. Cooper and his littermates entered the system as part of a hoarding case right here in Colorado. They were taken in at only a week or two old and hand raised before they entered our care at 6 weeks of age. Per a DNA test on a littermate, these pups are primarily Poodle/Chihuahua mixes.
