Story
Cheech - The Escape Artist Chihuahua About Cheech: 2-year-old male Chihuahua Neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped Outgoing and friendly with people Prefers the company of smaller dogs, especially female pups High-energy and very clever - can climb chain link fences to escape, so will need a secure, high wooden or nylon fence no chainlink. Personality and Behavior: Cheech is a lively and affectionate Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a small body. He loves people and most dogs, though he tends to prefer the company of smaller pups, especially females. His clever and adventurous nature has earned him the nickname "Houdini" - he has an uncanny ability to climb to the top of chain link fences and then jump down to freedom. . Cheech is mostly house-trained and comfortable using a doggie door, he has marked in the kitchen. He does well when crated, but will need close supervision to prevent any daring escapes when doors are opened. Tragically, Cheech's adventurous spirit has led him to kill a chicken after getting out, so he is not recommended for a farm or rural environment. However, Cheech seems to do well with older children and could make a delightful companion in the right home, as long as his escape artist tendencies are carefully managed. Ideal Home: Cheech would thrive in an active home with a securely fenced yard and plenty of enrichment to channel his high energy. He would do best in a home without large dogs, and one with responsible owners who can provide close supervision to prevent any unplanned adventures. An experienced Chihuahua owner or a home with older dog-savvy children would be ideal for this clever and affectionate pup. ##2195191##

Story
General Information:Cookie is an approximately 4-year-old female dog who has been spayed, microchipped, and is current on her vaccinations. She arrived at the rescue facility at the end of August 2025 accompanied by one puppy, who has since been adopted. Origin and Arrival:Cookie was rescued from Southeast Colorado; we believe that she and her puppy were left outside without a lot of human interaction. Training and Behavior:She is kennel-trained and familiar with using a doggie door.  Although she has experienced a few accidents inside the house, with consistent supervision, it is expected that she will become reliably housetrained. Social Compatibility:Cookie generally gets along well with most dogs but exhibits some bossiness and jealousy, especially when attention is given to other dogs. Therefore, careful management of interactions with other pets is advisable. Ideal Home Environment:It is recommended that Cookie be placed in a household with older children who are knowledgeable about dog behavior and language, ensuring a harmonious and understanding environment suitable for her needs. ##2505063##

Story
Rudy and His Mama - Rescue Intake Report Introduction Rudy and his mama were brought to the Rescue from a southeastern town, where they were not being properly cared for. Both Rudy and his mother were quite feral when they first arrived at the rescue. Mama's Background Mama is a 2-year-old female dog. She has been spayed and microchipped and is up-to-date on her vaccinations. When Mama first arrived, she and her baby were very feral and closed off. However, since being in the Rescue's care, they have become more open and affectionate, seeking attention and love. Mama's Behavior and Training Mama learned to use the doggy door very quickly. She is accustomed to being crated at night. Mama is not yet fully housetrained, but she should pick up on it quickly with some additional training and time. Mama generally does well interacting with most dogs. Recommendations Mama would do best in a home that can provide her with patience, care, and continued training to help her adjust and become better socialized. Her new family should be prepared to work on housetraining with her. She can be very jealous of other animals getting attention; she would be a great only dog or a dog that is not a lap dog. She has done good with kids that are not quick movers.  She would do best with older kids. With the right environment and support, Mama has great potential to become a loving, well-adjusted companion. Overall, Mama is a young dog who has made significant progress since being at the rescue, and with the right home and care, she has a bright future ahead of her. ##2422213##

Story
Basic InformationTiger is an approximately 2-year-old mixed-breed dog, likely a Chihuahua mix. He weighs around 17 pounds and is believed to be fully grown. Background & Rescue CircumstancesTiger was found under a cattle grate in southeast Colorado, very dirty and dehydrated. The closest house was a mile away, and the residents did not recognize him, indicating he was likely lost or abandoned in that area. Behavioral TraitsTiger is described as a very loving dog who enjoys attention and social interaction. He likes to chase other dogs along the fence line, showing playful and energetic behavior. Training & HabitsHe is crate trained and familiar with using the doggie door. However, Tiger is not completely potty trained yet and occasionally lifts his leg indoors, so he will require additional house training to address this behavior. Health StatusTiger is neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations, making him ready for adoption from a health standpoint. Recommendations for Care and Adoption Preparation Potty TrainingContinued consistent house training is advised to help Tiger fully learn to eliminate outdoors and reduce indoor accidents. Exercise and SocializationProvide regular play sessions and controlled socialization, especially considering his interest in chasing other dogs, to keep him engaged and well-adjusted. Health MonitoringMaintain routine veterinary care and keep his vaccinations up-to-date. Adoption ReadinessTiger’s affectionate nature and manageable size make him suitable for a family or individual prepared to offer mild training support and regular companionship. This detailed overview should assist any caretaker or potential adopter in understanding Tiger’s background, needs, and personality, ensuring a smooth transition into a new home and continued well-being. Please fill out an application on www.fureverdogdenver.com.If you would like more information or to meet him, please call or text the rescue at (720) 588-6809. ##2505065##

Story
The owner of Squirt and his brother turned them in shortly before Christmas in 2024. His brother was adopted; he is now nearly two years old. Behavior and Characteristics Squirt is "very sweet" and longs for affection and attention from anyone who gives it to him. He has been house-trained with a doggy door and is kennel-trained; he has made marks while inside. It might be necessary to retrain him at home and teach him how to behave like a dog. A home with older children would be ideal for him. Information on Health and Care Squirt has been neutered. Additionally, he has a microchip that aids in his identification and reunification in the event that he gets lost. He is up to date on his vaccinations, but in January he will require an update on his rabies. Adoption Procedure Squirt can be adopted through Fort Lupton's Fureverdog Rescue. Those who are interested are urged to complete an adoption application at www.Fureverdogdenver.com, the organization's website. Call Debbie at (720) 588-6809 if you have any questions or would like to schedule a meet-and-greet. In conclusion, Squirt is a young, charming dog in need of a caring home. Basic medical care and training are provided to him.  He is ready for a new, loving home.   ##2260546##
