General Information:Cookie is an approximately 4-year-old female Chihuahua who has been spayed, microchipped, and is current on her vaccinations. She arrived at the rescue facility at the end of August 2025 accompanied by one puppy, who has since been adopted. Origin and Arrival:Cookie was rescued from Southeast Colorado; we believe that she and her puppy were left outside without a lot of human interaction. Training and Behavior:She is kennel-trained and familiar with using a doggie door. Although she has experienced a few accidents inside the house, with consistent supervision, it is expected that she will become reliably housetrained. Social Compatibility:Cookie generally gets along well with most dogs but exhibits some bossiness and jealousy, especially when attention is given to other dogs. Therefore, careful management of interactions with other pets is advisable. Ideal Home Environment:It is recommended that Cookie be placed in a household with older children who are knowledgeable about dog behavior and language, ensuring a harmonious and understanding environment suitable for her needs. Rudy and His Mama - Rescue Intake Report Introduction Rudy and his mama were brought to the Rescue from a southeastern town, where they were not being properly cared for. Both Rudy and his mother were quite feral when they first arrived at the rescue. Mama's Background Mama is a 2-year-old female dog. She has been spayed and microchipped and is up-to-date on her vaccinations. When Mama first arrived, she and her baby were very feral and closed off. However, since being in the Rescue's care, they have become more open and affectionate, seeking attention and love. Mama's Behavior and Training Mama learned to use the doggy door very quickly. She is accustomed to being crated at night. Mama is not yet fully housetrained, but she should pick up on it quickly with some additional training and time. Mama generally does well interacting with most dogs. Recommendations Mama would do best in a home that can provide her with patience, care, and continued training to help her adjust and become better socialized. Her new family should be prepared to work on housetraining with her. She can be very jealous of other animals getting attention; she would be a great only dog or a dog that is not a lap dog. She has done good with kids that are not quick movers. She would do best with older kids. With the right environment and support, Mama has great potential to become a loving, well-adjusted companion. Overall, Mama is a young dog who has made significant progress since being at the rescue, and with the right home and care, she has a bright future ahead of her. ##2422213##

L Blue is a spunky Chihuahua puppy that is 2 months old, he was born at the rescue the day after mom Lizzy arrived in Colorado. He is microchipped and current on shots, he will need 1 more puppy shot and his rabies when he is 4 months old. He is almost as big as mom at this time, we think mom is a Chihuahua mix, maybe Dachshund or Corgi or another breed with a long body. These kids are very active and love to play, they have been handled extensively by a 5 year old. ##2101281##

A dog by any other name, just wouldn’t be the same! Fantastic Mr. Fox, referred to as FMF or Fox, is a 6 year old (almost 7) Chihuahua mix. He came to MHCR as a transfer from a local CO shelter in February of 2025. He spent the next 10 months completely kicking our a$$e$ with his allergies and trying to get them under control. AND WE HAVE SUCCEEDED. This guy is, you guessed it, fantastic. He’s been totally worth the effort and we couldn’t be more thrilled to finally list him for his true forever home. He’s on a strict diet and requires daily meds to maintain this luxurious coat and to keep his skin fully intact. Fox is around 12-13 lbs. He loves wearing clothes and fully expects a nice wardrobe from his forever humans. He is great with dogs and cats of all sizes and has proven himself to be house trained. Are you in school? Perfect! He wants to eat your homework. If you aren’t into that you can simply crate him, but be warned, he will protest that a bit in the beginning. Fox likes car rides. He enjoys walks and stroller rides. He’s never met a stranger and is quick to warm up to new peeps he meets. He has bursts of play, but LOVES snuggle time under ALLLLLL the blankets as any good chi should. We have worked closely with Mr. Fox’s regular veterinarians as well as a dermatology specialist at CSU (🙏🏻) to come up with the right blend of meds and food to keep this boy comfy and healthy. He takes Atopica, prednisone, eats a strict prescription diet, and has an even stricter list of treats – with this kind of treatment you’d be surprised he isn’t royalty. We are happy to report, we’ve spent months monitoring his bloodwork and his body has finally taken kindly to the program. Mr. Fox, unfortunately has had a handful of seizures while in our care over the preceding 12 months. At this stage he does not require medications however it is something he may need additional support with in the future. We aren’t looking for just any home. We are looking for the right home. While there are many shapes and sizes, one thing is for sure, FMF’s forever peeps shouldn’t be opposed to a dog will have some medical needs. He promises to pay them back 10 fold, though. Don is not an overly confident pup — but he’s getting braver every day. He does very well with other dogs — just takes a second with dogs that are super into him. Don is around 9 weeks old and he’s around 5 lbs. Little Cliff is a tiny guy with a big personality! He is so happy to run around and play and get lots of love! He loves other dogs, does great with children, and enjoys getting lots of attention from everyone. He is a small dog, but we are not sure what he is mixed with, as his face is getting a little longer and his activity level is pretty high. He does love his snuggles, though, and is able to put you under his spell pretty quickly with his true adorableness. He has learned house training pretty quickly, and has been nothing but a healthy boy from the get-go! He sleeps through the night and is crate trained. He has amazed us with his positive attitude and resilience. He is ready to find his forever!
