Story
Topaz is a 10 week old Chihuahua/Poodle/and dare I suggest Jack Russell terrier mix. His foster family calls him “Legs” thanks to his hilariously long legs! This adorable little guy is a top-notch explorer who’s always ready to investigate something new before curling up for a snuggle. Don’t let his scruffy appearance fool you—his coat is unbelievably soft, like cotton, and his adorable pink-and-black speckled nose is practically begging for a boop. Topaz is playful, curious, affectionate, and full of puppy charm. He’s already off to a fantastic start with his manners, using a doggie door and doing great with his house training. Topaz is also dog, cat, and even chicken friendly, making him an easy fit for many different homes. If you’re looking for a sweet, adventurous little sidekick with legs for days and endless cuddles to give, Topaz is ready to steal your heart! Story
Meet Wilbur, the Chihuahua mix who is convinced hes actually a cat. At around 2 years old and 13 pounds, this adorable little guy prefers to observe before participating, and is a firm believer that friendship is something you earn, not something you rush. After coming from a hoarding situation, Wilbur is still learning that the world can be a safe place and hes already shown a lot of progress. He even does well with visitors and will share the couch, wander over for a curious sniff, and quietly supervise the conversation (as long as no one tries to pet him or make him the center of attention). Think of him as the cat who requires the right vibes to grace you with their presence and judgement. Aside from his charmingly cat-like personality, Wilbur is pretty close to perfect. Hes house-trained, free roam trustworthy, cat and dog friendly, and loves going for walks. He does need his own emotional support animal, meaning a calm, confident dog to help him navigate the world and remind him that everything is going to be ok. His ideal home is one that is patient, gentle, and willing to let trust unfold on his timeline. If there are kids in the home, they should be dog-savvy or older and able to respect his space. Wilbur is a healthy young dog with one important routine: daily eye drops in one eye. The good news is that hes a total pro so drops are a breeze. If youre looking for a low-key dog friend who brings calm energy, quiet loyalty, and big emotional payoff over time, Wilbur is ready to become the best part of your day. Story
Alexandrite—“Alex” for short—is a little 10 week old pup with a heart of gold and a tail that looks like it came straight from a Jack Russell Terrier! While he is believed to be a Chihuahua/Poodle mix, one’s mind can wander! With his shorter, wiry coat and endlessly charming personality, he’s as unique on the outside as he is on the inside. Alex is the kind of puppy who’s happiest simply being where his people are. He isn’t the type to demand the spotlight, but he’ll gladly soak up every bit of love and attention you’re willing to give. Sweet, gentle, and affectionate, he’s the perfect balance of playful and cuddly. When he’s not following his favorite humans around, you’ll find Alex romping with his siblings, proudly discovering the perfect stick, or exploring whatever adventure the day brings. He gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and even chickens, making him an easy addition to many different homes. If you’re looking for a loyal little shadow with an adorable face, a one-of-a-kind tail, and a whole lot of love to give, Alexandrite is ready to be your new best friend. Story
At 14 years old and a fluffy 8 pounds, Lacey has officially reached the age where she has zero interest in pretending to like things she doesn’t. She made the journey from Texas after her owner passed away, and while life has changed, one thing certainly hasn’t: her confidence. This little lady knows exactly who she is, and she’s not interested in negotiating. Let’s address the elephant… or rather, the lack of teeth… in the room. Lacey has no teeth, yet she remains deeply committed to biting anyone who forgets that personal space is a privilege, not a right. Is it effective? Not really. Is the effort inspiring? Absolutely. Her tiny tongue spends most of its time sticking out of her mouth, making every dramatic glare about 75% cuter than she intends. Lacey believes affection should happen on a strict appointment-only basis. You may pet her, but only when she has decided you’ve earned the opportunity. Ironically, once you scoop her up to carry her over stairs (her luxating kneecaps mean stairs are not on the agenda), she’s perfectly content to relax in your arms and even accept some gentle pets. It’s almost like she enjoys being chauffeured. Imagine that. She’s carrying a couple of extra pounds and could stand to slim down closer to 6-7 pounds, but don’t mention that to her unless you’re feeling brave. She’d much rather discuss your life choices than her own fitness goals. Aside from her creaky little knees and carrying a few extra ounces of “retirement fluff,” Lacey seems to be a healthy senior who still has plenty of personality left to share. Lacey would do best in a home with either no kids or dog-savvy kids who understand that consent is important, especially when it comes from an opinionated Chihuahua. She could happily coexist with another mellow dog who respects her bubble, or she’d be perfectly content reigning as the one and only queen of the castle. If you’ve been searching for a tiny dog with a huge personality, endless comedic expressions, and enough sass to keep you laughing every single day, Lacey is ready to rule your home. Just remember: the throne is hers. You’re simply there to pay the rent/mortgage. Lacey is in foster in Loveland, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/lacey You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Little Bit is a whole lot of cute! At a whopping 4.5 pounds, this precious Chihuahua mix is about as small as they come. What she lacks in size, she more than makes up for in sweetness, charm, and a whole lot of love. This darling little girl found her way to Colorado from Texas after her owner passed away. Its clear that she was loved and well cared for because, at 11 years old, shes in wonderful health and has excellent manners to match. She is house-trained, free roam trustworthy (though she prefers to have a family who is home often), and does well with new people. She previously lived with other dogs but she can have a little touch of jealousy when it comes to another dog trying to share her space on the couch or dog bed. Shes about 98% sweet and 2% spicy, which is just enough sass to keep life entertaining. That tiny sprinkle of Chihuahua attitude is all part of her irresistible charm. She adores being held and will happily melt into your arms for a cuddle, but shes not the clingy type. Shes the perfect balance of affectionate and independent, making her an easy little companion to have around the house. Now shes hoping to find one more family who will treasure her for the rest of her happily ever after.
