Story
Who is ready for fall: rolling around in the leaves extra cuddles and just hanging outside with your favorite people?  Piper is a sweet, loving, high energy 4-5 year old chihuahua/min Pin mix. Aprox 10-12 lbs Piper loves chewing a bone at your feet or running around the house with other fur babies in the home. But her very favorite might be being in your lap while getting all the rubs and lovies on her soft little belly. Piper is looking to find her one person who she can connect with and follow around the house forever!  Piper is crate trained, working on leash walking skills, she is use to be picked up and carrier around, due to this, we are recommending a fenced in yard. Without, there could  be a longer transition as she learns to potty on leash.  Adoption fee $300: Piper is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations.  To fill out an application visit https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33868/generic Once your application has been approved we will schedule a one on one meet and greet with the entire family, including your current dogs. ##1458849##

Story
Buddy is 10lbs. of cuddlebug! He is very outgoing and everyone he meets is a new friend. No lap is safe ! He loves to curl up next to you on the couch and watch TV, or go for a nice walk. He loves other dogs of any size, but I don't know how he would be with cats.  He is crate trained, but prefers to stretch out on a couch and has excellent house manners. He is a chihuahua mix, about 10-12 lbs. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, treated for fleas and now current on flea and heartworm meds. Buddy came to rescue when his family lost their home. Mom (owner)  and three small dogs were living in thier van, however the A/C in the van went out and they tried to move into a storage unit, The lady who works at the storage unit caught wind of what was happening and asked the lady if it would be better if the dogs were surrender where they could have a chance at a better life. She promised to take care of the dogs and find rescue to help them get into loving homes. Mom surrendered Buddy and Minnie, but tried to hold on to her Goldie an extra couple of weeks, before also surrendering her as well. Buddy is very sweet, social and jumped right into being in foster care. The girls are taking a little extra time to settle in but will be available soon, Goldie has only been in care 2-3 weeks and is still adjusting to her new life. adoption fee $300 includes spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms ( dogs 7 months old and older) .To fill out an application visit https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33868/generic ##2187425##

Story
Goldie is 3 years old a chihuahua/chihuahua mix weighing in at just under 10 lbs.  She was her owners' "baby" and even when her owner lost her home. was forced to live in her van until the a/c went out, and then decided to move the dogs into a storage unit. She still tried to keep Goldie, even after she surrendered the other two housemates to rescue, But things got even tougher and Goldie had a hard time with  living in a cage in the van. At one point she escaped and was living under a trailer for 2 weeks before her owner found her and decided to surrender her to rescue too. Now all three have been treated for fleas, caught up on vetting and settling into thier foster home. She is shy, but wants to be with you as much as possible. When not with you, she curls up in her bed  until she can jump up on the couch  and curl up next you. She seems a little overwhelmed by all the dogs and noises in her foster home and needs some extra encouragement to join in on the fun. She is very dainty ,not quite 10 lbs,and very leggy.  I am working with her to get her out of her shell, She is weary of strangers, in normal chihuahua fashion, but once she knows you, she is so sweet and affectionate and just wants to be loved. She would do best in a quiet household, no small children. adoption fee $300 includes spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms. To fill out an application visit https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33868/generic ##2192964##

Story
Bear is an approximately 1 yr old Chihuahua mix. Bear found himself without a place to live when his owner had to move into a homeless shelter. He currently lives in a foster home with older children and would do best in a home with older children rather than very young children. He’s quite friendly and rather playful, he gets along with other dogs although can be a little bossy like many small dogs and is fine with the cats in his current foster home. He is crate trained and is perfecting his housetraining skills. Bear is vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, neutered and microchipped. Please reach out if you are interested in possibly providing a permanent home for Bear. He’s a cute little guy and won’t last long.

Story
A SWEET GAL LOOKING FOR A CALM HOME:  Approx. 14 years old / Approx. 10 lbs.    Hi, my name is Priscilla!  I had a loving home, but my world was turned upside down when my person started experiencing health issues and could no longer care for me.  Another doggie friend and I made our way to Mostly Mutts, and they got me to a wonderful foster home.  I’m grateful for the love I am receiving and can’t wait to be in my new home! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came to Mostly Mutts with another dog and lived with several dogs previously.  I have been fine with the other dogs in my foster home – as long as they don’t want to play with me or get in my space too much. Sometimes, I am not fond of sharing my person with them during couch time and may snap at them, and my foster feeds me separately to avoid conflicts. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, but I’m an older gal and haven’t lived with kids, so if you have much older calm teens, we can meet and see how we do together. No young kids.         • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  In my foster home, I’m a sweet girl who is a curious little explorer of my surroundings.  I’m not super playful, but I am loyal to my person and was used to lots of love in my previous home.  While I thrive on attention, I do not need it constantly and am perfectly content to just be near you.  I’d be a great companion for someone who is home a good bit and would enjoy a quiet little friend to hang out on a dog bed near you. I did not do well at the Mostly Mutts shelter and I was defensive as there were too many people and too much going on there – so peace and quiet is my jam. / My energy level is 3 - 5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I don’t know any specific skills/commands and seem a bit hard of hearing, so commands may be a challenge for me, as I mostly respond to loud claps or whistles. / I’m not crated in my foster home and am not at all happy when separated from my person by the baby gate.  It really is the only time I make noise. / I do well with my potty skills during the day on a frequent let out schedule, though I have been having accidents overnight.  Taking up my water at night and some help with pee pad training are tips to improve this. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  The thing I love best is just being with my people.  I am a sweet girl who doesn’t require a great deal of snuggles … just your presence makes me happy! / Other than the issues with some dogs that I mentioned above, and too many people or too much going on, etc. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and good care. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a grade 3/5 heart murmur that doesn’t require medication at this time, of course it should be monitored and may need meds in the future.  I’m missing most of my teeth, but that doesn’t bother me, and I hope you won’t mind.  I am looking for a calm and peaceful home where I can enjoy my retirement time!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  October 9, 2024, 7:15 am

Story
A BLIND & MOSTLY DEAF SWEET FELLOW:  Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 7 lbs.  Hi, my name is Chipper!  I lived a good life once my mom rescued me.  She is an amazing animal lover, advocate and rescuer!  In fact, my mom helped Mostly Mutts secure their current rescue building so that hundreds of pets could be saved every year!  Now she’s in memory care and needs our help in finding her beloved pets new homes. I’m one of them and I’m looking for an amazing family (like my mom has been) to love and care for me for the rest of my life. I’m a special needs guy looking for a special family!  I’m in a great foster home until I can find my new family.   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I lived with several other dogs in my former home and there are dogs in my foster home too.  I am not looking for a playmate and I usually just walk away from other dogs.  So, if you have a dog or dogs that won’t want to play with me, we could be a good fit and let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I  met kids in my foster home and we think that older gentle kids who understand that I’m blind and only hear loud noises would be best for me, so if you have kids like this who would like to gently cuddle with me, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  When I first came to Mostly Mutts, I was confused, and my sense of time was off due to being blind and mostly deaf (I only hear loud noises).  I circled a lot the first couple of days, barked at the ceiling and had my days and nights mixed up which can happen with dogs like me.  So, I started an anxiety medication and most of that has stopped now, though I probably shouldn’t live in an apartment/condo type home in case there is a longer adjustment period in my new home.  I’m also at the beginning of dementia, so I’m clearly looking for a special family to adopt and care for me.  My foster says that I don’t ask for much, but I do enjoy sitting and cuddling up with you and would love a person or family that just wants to hang out with and love and be loved by me.  They say that I’m sweet and they will be happy to talk to you about me.  I’ll also need a family that will keep me safe due to my disabilities. / Energy level: 1-3. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I don’t know any commands but I’m skilled at being adorable. / My foster keeps me in the kitchen when they are away and at nighttime and I’m fine with this set up. / I use a pee pad once I know where it is, but I have to be honest with you and say that since I’m blind I do pee wherever I am and I do mark, so during the day I wear a belly band to help with this and in the morning, my foster just does a quick clean up of any accidents I had overnight.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  In my foster home I love soft beds and cuddling with people. I also like being brushed which is good since I have longer fur. / I do not like being restrained for nail trims, so my foster just cut a few at a time and I did better with that. I would not want to live in a busy type of household and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm neutered, and I easily take my anxiety medications twice a day mixed with my food. I do have moderate tartar on some of my teeth, but we don’t want to put me under anesthesia, so perhaps you can use an over-the-counter dental treatment for me.  If you are a special person or family that likes to help dogs live out their best life, come and meet me as I’m looking for an angel.  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  October 9, 2024, 7:15 am

Story
A CUTE BUNDLE OF LOVE:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 10 lbs. Hello – I’m Orion!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control which made my day!  I’ve been enjoying life in a great foster home and am excited to find a home of my very own soon.  I am sure to charm you with my expressive ears and cute head tilt as I intently listen to you telling me how adorable I am! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:   I get along very well with the dogs in my foster home.  I play with the one who is 6x my size, while also occasionally engaging the dog closer to my size – who is older and not always a fan of my shenanigans – but I get her to play with me sometimes.  When I try to be the alpha dog with humping behaviors, they correct me, and I listen.  So, if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / I shouldn’t live with kitties as I love chasing them and they do not like that, so no kitties for me. / I really enjoyed the two children that visited my foster home (ages 7 & 12).  My foster reports that I was a love bug with them and enjoyed playing with toys with them, so if you have kids around their ages, let’s meet and best no toddlers who may fall on me.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster describes me as a very happy little guy who is a true people dog.  I seek out attention and can be a bit barky at first with strangers but am happy to meet them and have been nice with everyone I’ve met!  I am smart and easily trained - picking up on the routines of my foster home very quickly. Playful, snuggly and affectionate, I am basically a fun-loving little lap dog. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a fast learner and know the ‘leave it’ and ‘stay’ commands.  I am  learning ‘go out’ and ‘leash’ too. I bet you can teach me even more! / I have not needed to be crated in my foster home. / My potty habits have been pretty good in my foster home.  I will mark sometimes but am starting to let my foster know when I need to go out by going to the door.  My foster feels I will do well in my new home on a consistent schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Toys, treats, snuggles, and being loved – it’s all great!  I love to play and will sometimes bring my tennis ball to my foster to throw.  Sleeping in my dog bed next to my foster’s desk while they work makes me happy.  I also love to just be held and get snuggles from my people, while giving them kisses. / I hate to be left out of anything and will get underfoot to be sure that I’m not missing out. Be cautious if you're not steady on your feet as I don’t know what personal space is and I wouldn’t want to trip someone who is a fall risk. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I’m current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have some tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.    I am looking for a loving home with a great family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  October 9, 2024, 7:15 am

Story
When I came into the county shelter as a stray I was paralyzed with fear. Of course, I'm a 7.5lb Chihuahua and everyone was a giant. I protected myself in the only way I knew by acting mean and I was whisked off the adoption floor into solitary. My foster mom saw me before I was isolated so after my stray hold she came and rescued me. I can be a little frightened when I'm handled roughly by someone new so please be kind to me. I'm working on my potty training. I'm pretty smart so with a little help I know I'll get there. I get along with other dogs, mostly small please. I'm a little cuddle bug so how mean can I be? If you like the Chihuahua breed you'll just L.O.V.E me!

Story
Mary & Jewels came into rescue after their mom passed away. They had been much loved but had to learn to trust people again. Luckily, their foster mom and dad are very experienced and they soon were exploring the back yard, playing with toys and even snuggling new human friends who came to visit! Stay tuned for more information as these 2 lovelies settle & we learn more about them. If you are interested in adopting Mary, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Mary's adoption fee is $xxx. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Mary will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter
