A BLOSSOMING FRIEND: Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 20 lbs. Hi there, I’m Bourbon! I came to Mostly Mutts from a home with more dogs than they could manage, so I missed out on some early socialization. But I’m learning every day and making great progress! Once I get to know you and decide you’re one of my people – you’re in for good! I just need a little time to settle in and build trust so we can become good friends. I got to spend some time in a temporary foster home and had a great time there! I was adopted for a short time, but it wasn’t the right fit, so I’m back at Mostly Mutts looking for a calmer type of home and family to live a good life with. I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off-site and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I have lived with a lot of dogs and have decided that I no longer want to live with other dogs. / I saw some outdoor cats in my temp. foster home, and we all agree that I should not live with cats. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best 15+ who will be able to read my signals and give me time to feel at home. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I came in a scared and sensitive soul who’s learning that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Once I know you’re my person, my heart opens up completely and I’ll show you my silly side with happy zoomies and gentle kisses. I’m all about trust and patience - go slowly with me at first, keep me safe so I don’t get startled and run off, and soon you’ll see what a loyal, loving friend I am. It took a bit longer with men in my temp. foster home, but I’ll be around men in the prison/foster training program, so stay tuned for more information about that. My temp. foster said I was a sweet dog, and I sure enjoyed my time there – it was a nice calm home which is what I like. / Energy Level: My energy level was 4-6 in my temp. foster home. It may start out a little lower until I feel comfortable. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands so far. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. I look forward to learning even more. / I’m doing well in my little room at Mostly Mutts, and I did well in a crate in my temp. foster home, too – I slept peacefully during the night. / I’m doing pretty well with my potty manners on the shelter schedule with a few accidents. I also did well in my temp. foster home on a good schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love people once I know them, I’ll run around doing zoomies to show them how happy I am to see them! I gladly accept those nice ear scratches and belly rubs from my people. In my temp. foster home, I enjoyed being close to my person, lying in the sun and being out in the fenced yard with them as well as showing my fun ‘pounce’ and play style while running around. Toys and treats are great, so let’s enjoy some of those please! I’m sure we’ll find lots of other things we will enjoy doing together once I’ve settled into my new home. / I don’t care for other dogs, and I wouldn’t be happy if people rushed me into new situations or relationships, or if I was in a home that was busy or loud and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. My mom became very sick and could no longer take care of me. Family stepped in and asked if Act2Pups would help me and I'm an Act2 pup now. I've finally settled in. I feel safe now and I'm moving forward. I spent the last 5 years sitting right next to my person, being hand fed and gaining a lot of weight. I'm now under 10 lbs and I feel grrrrreat!. A dental with 10 extractions helped me feel better as well. When I came into Act2Pups I could hardly walk on my back leg. I've lost weight and I'm getting exercise so my leg is getting better. I'm doing great with going out to potty which I had to relearn since I hardly went out at all for a long time. I still miss my person. I would so much like to have my very own person(s) and forever home real soon. I'm ready and I hope you are too.

I was so pitiful when I ended up in the county shelter. Sad because I'd gotten lost and really sad because my person didn't come find me. The shelter said I was 14, but they were way off. My teeth are ground down, which probably resulted in the 14 yo age. I was kept in a cage most of the time probably. I've definitely had puppies, so maybe I was used for breeding. Now I'm perfectly perfect. No need for a crate. I go outside to do my business. I get the zoomies during the day when I'm beyond happy. I'm a really happy girl and my foster mom says I'm a cuddle bug. I'm a sweet girl that is ready to make a family smile when I'm around.

6 year old Rucker was an owner surrender at a local animal shelter. He was adopted right away but then the holidays came and all the family came to visit. Rucker a small little guy with lack of social skills was overwhelmed with guest and little ones running around. He should have been decompressing and getting comfortable in his new home, but instead got overwhelmed and scared and ended up biting his new owner. He went to another county shelter for his 10 day bite hold, the family decided that they would not be taking him back at the end of the hold. Rucker was marked rescue only.Rucker is adjusting to his new life in a foster home. He started off terrified of the other dogs, but has learned to tolerate a few of the smaller ones. With slow introductions, he could live in a home with other small dogs, but would do best in a home as an only dog. He is perplexed by cats, and not a fan of small children. If we had to guess, Rucker probably lived his whole life with a single female without many visitors (people/animals). He thrives one on one, but not in a crowd. Once he knows you, he is good, but reserved around strangers. Like a typical Pomeranian, he has a lot to say. We would not recommend him in an apartment, condo or other multi-family dewelling.
