Story
Krissy 1.5 year old female Chihuahua/Terrier mix 11 lbs. Fully vetted Fenced yard required Meet sweet Krissy, AKA "Fuzzy". We are looking for a low traffic home for this girl. Initially shy around people she does not know, she warms up relatively quickly with patience especially if she is given treats or held. Food is the way to her heart. She loves playing with other dogs even long after they get tired of wrestling. As dogs do help her with confidence, we would like for there to be at least one pup friend in her home. We also require a fenced yard because being leashed scares her. She is crate trained and sees her crate as her safe space when overwhelmed. She came to us having been trained using puppy pads. She is doing very well with house training outside. She is still carried to the door because she gets sidetracked easily. In spite of having loads of energy, Krissy knows how to entertain herself. She is a big fan of hard chew bones and has a variety that she collects in one space. If interested in adopting her, please complete our application. http://tinyurl.com/mpmrapp Have questions? Story
Trudy Belle  1 year old and 8.5 pounds She is cute as a button who loves to be near you and follow you around, but she is not a lap dog, she doesn’t want to hang out in my lap. She will let you pick her up, but she doesn’t seem to love being carried around.   She does not bark, but she does whine. She will whine to go outside or if she doesn’t see her person.  Commands- she knows her name “Belle” and "Come", but those are the only commands she knows so far and she doesn’t always come.  She has recently remembered how to either go outside or use a pee pad. She needs both options. Her bladder is small. A consistent schedule for going outside every 2-4 hours will work best for her.  She does not like to be in a crate and if separated from her people will scratch at the door, however if she has the ability to see and hear her people, she is not destructive.  She has always been with one or more dogs her size. I am not sure if she will be ok being an only dog. She maybe fine or it may increase her separation anxiety.  Due to her first 12 months and the neglect she experienced, she will need time for adjustment with any change. She will need at least 3 days and maybe more to feel safe and at home. She may hide behind pillows and run away from you during this time. I would ONLY leash walk during this period. Trudy will not be an instant cuddler, but will grow in trust and in a few days be ready to hangout with you more. She may regress with eating and toilet training, so temporarily may need to use pee pads, but with calmness and sensitivity, she will start going outside. Outside walks should be leash walks even in a fenced in backyard.  An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. Story
Say hello to Georgia Belle! She is a young, adult chihuahua who is looking for a patient, understanding person who will give her the time to feel safe and secure. She can be shy and fearful when meeting new people, especially men, and tends to be cautious in unfamiliar situations. But once she learns to trust you, she has a joyful personality that you will fall in love with.    She is working diligently on house training and is doing quite well. Leash training is also going well. Little Georgia Belle has made so much progress in just a few weeks. This young gal needs a committed adopter who is willing to provide guidance and positive reinforcement. A calm home with no young children and a secure fenced in yard would be ideal for her to thrive.   Please consider giving this deserving girl a forever home. Story
Bruce Barrow is a 6-year-old, 11.5 pound, small mixed breed (maybe Min Pin - Chihuahua - terrier?) whose soft spirit makes him impossible not to love. He came to AAU rescue a bit underweight, and should fill out to around 14 pounds with steady meals and kindness.   Shy at first meeting, Bruce is the kind of dog who watches the world carefully before deciding it’s safe. Give him a little time, and his whole demeanor transforms. Once he trusts you, he becomes sweet, gentle, and oh-so-affectionate. Pick him up, and he just melts right into your arms like he’s been waiting his whole life for a person to hold him close.   Bruce Barrow would thrive in a calm, patient home that understands the magic of slow introductions and soft encouragement. He doesn’t need loud or busy - he just needs someone who will let him blossom at his own pace.   If you’re looking for a tender-hearted companion, who will reward your kindness with deep, loyal love,  Bruce Barrow is ready to meet you. Story
Leah Lady is a 12-year-old 14lb Terrier mix. Leah Lady is very sassy and alpha and doesn’t act her age. She’s timid and skittish when meeting new people and needs time to warm up. But what a love once she’s comfortable. She is house-trained in her foster home and does well in her crate. Her hearing is excellent, and she is a barker. In the yard, she runs around barking at birds and any neighbor or their dog that happens to appear. She also barks at Thunder!! Lady can not live in an apartment or condo.  The lady appears to have had little socialization and enjoys her new experiences, especially walking. Younger children make her nervous. She does better with teens, but it takes time.  She would do fine as an only dog. She’s very affectionate, and it’s all about her. I have two other dogs, and she wants a lot of attention. Lady loves toys but doesn’t like to share, and neither does my other foster, so unfortunately, there are no toys. She doesn’t resource guard with me but apparently will with another dog. She may be okay with another dog, depending on its disposition. She likes my other dog, and there are no issues with it, but he’s 14.  Lady is blind in her left eye from a large cataract. She sees well out of her right eye, though there is also a smaller cataract in the left eye. The pressure in the left eye will need to be monitored. She also had a mammary tumor removed with her spay. It was cancerous, but the margins were clear, and her chest X-ray was good. This will also need to be monitored. The frequency should be every 6 to 12 months, depending on the adopter's vet’s best practice.   An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. Story
Meet Moose Milo… aka Moosy Moose    This 8-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix is equal parts adorable, quirky, and completely lovable. Moose Milo has the sweetest little face, a unique half-hairless look that makes him extra special, and a personality that will absolutely steal your heart. He’s the kind of dog who will gently nuzzle in for kisses and happily claim his spot right next to you in bed at night.   Moose also has a signature little strut. Due to a mild spinal deformity and possible neurological component, his back legs move a bit slower than his front—giving him the cutest, slightly “wonky” walk you’ve ever seen. But don’t let that fool you—he gets around just fine and lives a happy, playful life! He eats great, enjoys playtime, and doesn’t let anything slow him down.   He does best with other small dogs (he likes to think he’s the boss with bigger ones!), so a home with fellow littles—or as your one-and-only—would be perfect.   Moose is truly a lover at heart. He’s affectionate, gentle, and happiest when he’s close to his person, soaking up attention and giving out kisses.   Because of his condition, Moose can occasionally have accidents in his sleep and may not realize it. Feeding him earlier in the day and keeping a consistent routine helps manage this, and he does great with a little understanding and support.   If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with a big personality, a quirky look, and an even bigger heart, Moose Milo is your guy  An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions.
