Story
Sophie is a spunky 3 year old 6 lbs dog. When you get to know her she loves giving kisses. She has been raised around our cat and loves him. She can be a little yappy when it comes to strangers. It may take a little time for her to warm up but when she does her beautiful personality shines through. We aren’t able to keep her as our youngest who is also 3 has bad allergies towards dogs and keeps getting ear infections. We even did tubes but ultimately we have to put our daughter health first. No health concerns other than her being underweight, something she has always felt with but vets say she is of perfect health and due to her breed.

Story
Tito is a shy but affectionate chihuahua and dachshund mix. He was surrendered, along with his sister Luna, by the owner's family as the owner has developed dementia.  In his foster home, Tito is finding his security and confidence again.  In his original home, there was chaos and he didn't understand any of it. Tito would do best in a loving home, no small kids.  He is small and I would prefer he wasn't overwhelmed by toddlers.  He takes a little bit of time to trust and warm up to new people but he is young and will learn quickly.  Where his sister was the boss of the duo, Tito is more timid but he absolutely enjoys affection and a lap. Now that she has been adopted, Tito is starting to come into his own and really blossom.  He's funny, he's a good boy but now that she's not directing him, he's kind of seeing how far he can get away with things. He seems to do fine with the larger foster dogs, I can't see that he would mind a dog savvy cat but he does want to play with everyone, even if they don't want to play with him.  I think he would really benefit from having a playful canine companion. He has to use pee pads most of the time, in his current foster situation but on the weekends, when he can access the outdoors, he is good about going outside to potty. Adoption fee is $250 Age: 11 months  Weight: 10 lbs   Temperament: Gets along with other dogs and adults, not kid or cat tested yet.     Vetting: neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative. Training:  He needs training, he seems to be housetrained.   Email for questions: pheiges@yahoo.com    To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.  September 13, 2024, 12:18 pm

Story
Meet Carey: Your New Best Friend! Carey is an absolute joy to have around, according to his foster. This lively and loving senior pup sleeps through the night and is perfectly comfortable staying in his crate when you leave the house. He won't wake you up early, ensuring you get your beauty sleep. Carey adores cuddling and going for walks. Although he can be a bit rambunctious on the leash sometimes, his curious nature and funny little prance will make you smile. Carey is house and crate trained with no accidents or marking-he's very low maintenance and full of love. He doesn't bark much, and his foster says he loves being outdoors and soaking in the sights and sounds. He may need to be an only dog since he tends to be protective when on his human's lap. While he gets along with other dogs outside, he prefers having his own space when indoors. This wonderful dog is looking for a loving home where he can be the center of attention and share his boundless affection. If you're looking for a loyal companion and lap dog, Carey is the perfect match for you! Fill out an application to meet him today!

Story
Rosa Glen has spunk in spades! This frisky lady walks with a pep in her step and a twinkle in her eye. She can often be round rolling around in the grass or zooming around. When walking, Rosa Glen will look back at the leash holding her back as if it's a personal affront to her independence, as if to say "I just want to go!" When she gets to know you, Rosa Glen is very affectionate. She'll gently nuzzle your hand and wiggle her way in for cuddles. Come meet Rosa Glen, your sprightly sidekick!

Story
Lady is 6 years old. She is a loving dog that loves to be with her people. Nothing makes her happier than to be next to you or on your lap under a blanket. She trained with basic commands and does fairly well with responding. She is a cuddle bug and loves to sleep under the blankets. Although nothing gets her more excited than treats or her squeaky “babies”. She would do best in a home where someone is there more regularly and can give her the love and attention she wants and deserves. She does have typical Chihuahua anxiety. While she is not aggressive, she is reactive to strangers and unknown dogs. She typically will bark and growl, but does not attack. In her little heart, she wants to be loved on by everyone, but when you’re small and have big emotions, anxiety comes out in barks. She will come with all her needs: bed, toys, blankets, all the food and treats I have, and any outfits she owns.
