Do you want a small dog companion but NOT a lap dog? Do you want a dog who will run from you rather than towards you? Do you want a dog who prefers the company of other dogs over you? Well then I have got the perfect dog for you!! Please give a warm welcome to Clementine! In all seriousness, she is an adorable little girl. Clementine came to Hart in June 2021 and has been in the same foster home ever since. She with so many others was rescued from a hoarding situation in Tennessee. To this day, she still exhibits nervousness around people. For this reason, she is looking for a very special adopter. The adopter will need to be very patient with her and give her ample time to show her brand of affection. While she still runs from me if I try to approach her to pet her, she does make her way over to me at bedtime for lovings. She will even sleep in bed with me and give me some sweet kisses. But when it’s time to get up, she darts away again. I truly can’t explain it but I have learned to accept it. Clementine does great with her doggy friends. She is most comfortable with other dogs. The ideal adopter will have another dog in the home that will groom and “mother” her. She loves having a dog around that she can curl up with!! Also, since she is hard to catch, a fenced in yard would be best for her. Due to the fact that Clementine can be a challenge to catch and she does not come when called, any meet/greets will have to be done at the adopter’s home and only within 25 miles of the Northern Kentucky area. PS Guard your socks. She loves socks (haha)

Story
Hi, I am Rosie and I am super shy. I am about 6 years old, have been with HART since June 2021 and am looking for a home to call my own. I came from a hoarding situation where over 150 doggies just like me were living together in a small house. My ideal space will either be with one of my friends (King is extra snuggly) or in a home with a dog about my size to hang around. I am a pretty easy going gal and am not territorial about my food, toys or treats. I don't mind cats but a doggie friend is a must for me. I am happiest if I get to roam around a yard with a fence as I have rarely been on a leash and just don't like it. I think I could learn to love humans and their attention but I will need time and patience as I am just learning what it is like to be loved. Think you might be the family for me? Please fill out an adoption application NOW at rescueahart.org as I have been waiting way too long for a place to call my own!

Story
Come meet me and hundreds of adoptable pets at Cincinnati's mega adoption event, My Furry Valentine! Saturday, February 21st and Sunday February 22nd at Spooky Nook Sports! Rudi is a 6-month-old, 11-pound Chihuahua full of the playful, bouncy energy you’d expect from a growing puppy. He loves to explore, stay busy, and turn everyday moments into fun adventures. His curious, lively personality really shines when he’s playing or discovering something new. As with many young pups, Rudi is still learning the ropes. He will do best with a family committed to providing patience, consistency, positive training, and lots of love as he continues to grow. He’s not yet comfortable walking on a leash and will need ongoing leash training to help him build confidence and good manners. Because of this, a securely fenced yard is strongly preferred so he can safely burn off energy and play. Due to his small size and puppy enthusiasm, a home without small children—or with older, respectful kids—may be the best fit to ensure everyone stays safe and happy. Rudi is looking for a family that understands puppy life and is excited to help him blossom into a confident, well-adjusted companion. If you’re ready to invest time, training, and affection into a sweet little dog who just wants to be loved, Rudi could be the perfect addition to your home. Rudi is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $400.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Every Rose Has a Thorn… and a Whole Lot of SassMeet Rose — just over a year old, spayed, and packed with personality in a three-legged, go-go-go body.Rose is sweet, loving, and deeply devoted to her person. Once she chooses you, you’re her favorite human forever. She does best with people who understand that strong bonds can come with big feelings.Rose believes her person is very special and prefers not to share. Because of this, she’s looking for a home where she can be the only dog. She’ll thrive best in an adult-only home, where she can feel secure and understood. When Rose loves, she loves hard. She’s shown signs of separation anxiety and needs a patient adopter who can help her feel safe and settled when alone. Now for the bloom. Rose is affectionate, energetic, and bursting with excitement. She barks when she’s happy, jumps all over you to say hello, and despite having only three legs, she has no trouble with couches, stairs, or keeping up with an active lifestyle. Missing a leg hasn’t slowed her down one bit.Rose isn’t for everyone — but for the right person, she’ll be an incredibly loyal, fun, and loving companion.Every rose has a thorn… but this Rose has so much beauty to share.Think you might be Rose’s person? Reach out. We are accepting applications for her and will be hand selecting the best possible home. So please be patient with the process.

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🐾💛 Meet Gordo — 8 Pounds of Love, Loyalty, and Lap-Warming Perfection 💛🐾 Gordo has been waiting… and waiting… and we honestly don’t understand how this little guy is still looking for his forever home. At just 3 years old and 8 pounds, Gordo is living proof that the very best things come in the tiniest, snuggliest packages. This sweet Chihuahua mix is equal parts lap warmer, cuddle champion, and loyal sidekick. He adores being close to his person and will happily follow you from room to room like a tiny, devoted shadow. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who truly wants to be with you — not just near you — Gordo is your guy. He does have a soft spot for the ladies (Gentlemen, don’t worry—he’ll accept you too, but he’s a mama’s boy at heart!) and would thrive in a calm, quiet home. He’d also be thrilled to have a small doggie friend to sunbathe with and share naps. Kids aren’t really his vibe, but cozy couches and peaceful routines? Absolutely. 💊 A little extra love note about Gordo: Gordo is considered special needs due to occasional seizures, which are well managed with daily medication (Levetiracetam and Phenobarbital - about $50 every two months). He takes his meds like a champ and doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. He’ll also need Midazolam on hand, just in case he does have a seizure — though thankfully, his meds are working very well and he rarely has one. Now for the fun stuff… 🐶 Gordo’s Favorite Things: • Being used as a living neck pillow • Sunbathing like a tiny beach bum • Napping with doggie friends • Shamelessly begging for watermelon 🍉 • Sitting in your lap… always • Staring down the vacuum like a brave little warrior He’s house trained, crate trained, and happily trots into his crate at mealtime like the good boy he is. Gordo is gentle, affectionate, and incredibly loving — the kind of dog who bonds deeply and gives his whole heart once he feels safe. This little guy has been through a lot in his short life, but he hasn’t let it dim his sweetness or his desire to love. He’s just waiting for someone to see how special he truly is and give him the calm, loving home he deserves. 💛 If you’re looking for a devoted companion, a constant cuddle buddy, and a tiny soul who will adore you endlessly — Gordo is ready to wiggle into your heart and home! Apply today at haydudeequine.org and give this sweet boy the forever home he’s been waiting for. 💖

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Meet Lucy – Tiny Thief, Big Heart 🐾💛 2 years old • 12 pounds of pure personality This little rascal is Lucy — and she may be small, but she’s packed full of sweetness, spunk, and just a dash of mischievous charm. Lucy came from a hoarding situation, so she’s still learning all about the good life most dogs take for granted — things like kind words, soft beds, gentle pets, and treats that don’t have to be shared with 50 of your closest canine neighbors. She’s discovering that being a dog can actually be pretty wonderful. At first, Lucy can be a little shy. New people and new places take her a bit of time to warm up to. But once she feels safe? Out comes the happy, goofy, secretly hilarious little girl hiding inside. She’s house trained, crate trained, and not food aggressive. On walks she’s more “sniff investigator” than marathon athlete — she doesn’t walk great on a leash... yet, because she’s too busy trying to smell every single leaf, blade of grass, and mysterious sidewalk crumb. Priorities! Lucy enjoys being outside, soaking up the sun, and observing the world from her favorite perch. She’s slowly gaining confidence in the house and has recently started exploring more on her own — a HUGE milestone for a girl who once didn’t know what home life even meant. She isn’t overly social with bigger dogs and would likely be happiest as an only dog or with calm dogs her own size. Loud, boisterous canine roommates can feel a little overwhelming to her. Now for the BEST part about Lucy… Lucy is a THIEF. 😄 Her foster brother Buddy leaves toys scattered everywhere, and Lucy has developed a top-secret operation. When Buddy isn’t looking, she sneaks off her perch, carefully steals one of his toys, and proudly carries it back to her spot like she just pulled off the heist of the century. No remorse. Just adorable criminal activity. And as if that wasn’t cute enough, Lucy has one more irresistible trick up her tiny sleeve — she does the SWEETEST little paw wave when she’s happy or asking for attention. It’s her signature move, and it’s basically impossible to resist. What Lucy needs most is a patient, gentle person or family who will give her the time she needs to feel safe and comfortable — without rushing her. She’s already come so far, and with a little more love and understanding, she’s going to blossom even more. Lucy is a very happy girl who is slowly learning how to just “be a dog.” And watching her discover joy, trust, and confidence is one of the most rewarding things ever. If you’re looking for a small companion with a tender heart, a silly streak, and a future career in toy theft, Lucy might just be your perfect match. Apply today at haydudeequine.org and let this tiny treasure warm up your world and put joy in your heart! 💛🐾
