Do you want a small dog companion but NOT a lap dog? Do you want a dog who will run from you rather than towards you? Do you want a dog who prefers the company of other dogs over you? Well then I have got the perfect dog for you!! Please give a warm welcome to Clementine! In all seriousness, she is an adorable little girl. Clementine came to Hart in June 2021 and has been in the same foster home ever since. She with so many others was rescued from a hoarding situation in Tennessee. To this day, she still exhibits nervousness around people. For this reason, she is looking for a very special adopter. The adopter will need to be very patient with her and give her ample time to show her brand of affection. While she still runs from me if I try to approach her to pet her, she does make her way over to me at bedtime for lovings. She will even sleep in bed with me and give me some sweet kisses. But when it’s time to get up, she darts away again. I truly can’t explain it but I have learned to accept it. Clementine does great with her doggy friends. She is most comfortable with other dogs. The ideal adopter will have another dog in the home that will groom and “mother” her. She loves having a dog around that she can curl up with!! Also, since she is hard to catch, a fenced in yard would be best for her. Due to the fact that Clementine can be a challenge to catch and she does not come when called, any meet/greets will have to be done at the adopter’s home and only within 25 miles of the Northern Kentucky area. PS Guard your socks. She loves socks (haha)

Hi, I am Rosie and I am super shy. I am about 6 years old, have been with HART since June 2021 and am looking for a home to call my own. I came from a hoarding situation where over 150 doggies just like me were living together in a small house. My ideal space will either be with one of my friends (King is extra snuggly) or in a home with a dog about my size to hang around. I am a pretty easy going gal and am not territorial about my food, toys or treats. I don't mind cats but a doggie friend is a must for me. I am happiest if I get to roam around a yard with a fence as I have rarely been on a leash and just don't like it. I think I could learn to love humans and their attention but I will need time and patience as I am just learning what it is like to be loved. Think you might be the family for me? Athena is a 2 1/2-year-old Chihuahua weighing just 6 pounds, but don't let her tiny size fool you, this little girl has a heart big enough to fill a room! Athena has been through something no dog should have to experience. She suffered a head injury that left her with some permanent brain damage. Thankfully, she does not have seizures, but she does walk with an adorable head tilt and has a bit of a goofy, quirky way about her. Her differences only make her that much more special. Athena is good with other dogs and would love a peaceful, quiet home where she can feel safe and take her time settling in. She can be shy when she first meets someone, but once she realizes she is loved and safe, she warms up beautifully. And when Athena loves you, she loves with her whole heart. Sometimes a name just fits, and Precious is definitely one of those dogs. At 10 years young, she's a sweet, gentle, low-energy girl who can be timid at first, but give her a little time and her affectionate personality begins to shine. Precious gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has settled right into her foster pack (3 large dogs and 2 other chihuahuas) she's even starting to play a little! She loves being near her person—curling up beside her foster mom while she works or occasionally deciding they should share the office chair. She enjoys cuddles but is also perfectly content relaxing on her own. Once Precious bonds with you, she becomes your little lookout and will alert you when she hears something unfamiliar. She's shy with new visitors and just needs a little time to warm up. She's crate trained, walks well and has the cutest little prance. She gets around great and even uses a stool to hop onto the bed. Precious is also discovering TREATS—and she's a big fan! She's got quite the nose for people food, too. One exception: peanut butter is unacceptable. Precious has standards. She's still working on potty training and will let you know when she needs a nighttime potty break. She has no known pre-existing medical conditions. Precious may be 10, but she's still discovering new things and showing us more of her personality every day. She's looking for a patient, loving home where she can enjoy plenty of cozy spots, treats (hold the peanut butter!) and companionship. Sweet, gentle and just a little shy—that's our Precious.
