My name is Handsome. I am two and a half years old and I weigh 25 lbs. I am very smart and a quick learner. I love being with people and getting lots of petting and snuggle time. I have lots of love and loyalty to give in return. I'm just a little bit shy when meeting someone new, but I warm up quickly. I am well behaved in the house. I stay off of the furniture and out of the trash. I have a medium energy level and I ride well in the car. I only bark when the other dogs bark. I get along well with all of the other dogs in my foster home and really like playing with them. They range in age from 4 mos.- seniors and in size from 5 lbs to 120 lbs. One of my favorite games to play with my dog buddies is chase. I'm also good with children but I don't know about cats - the rescue doesn't have any. I am eager to find a family that I can call my own. Belly rubs are a must! My previous owner kept me crated on the porch a lot. He ended up going to prison and someone saw me on the porch and called animal control. When my time was almost up with animal control, I was taken into the rescue. I am now fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. My foster can tell how grateful I am now that I am in a foster home with a fenced-in backyard and freedom in the house! Troy (white) and Teddy (black/tan/white) are ready to find their new forever together! This bonded pair is quite the cute duo. Their human mother passed away, and now they need a quite place to call their own. Teddy is the younger of the two dogs at 5 years old. He's a chihuahua / toy terrier mix who is 11.2 lbs. Teddy is always around his big brother, Troy. Troy is 15 years young and just a dashing little man. Troy is a some sort of spaniel mix who weighs 13.8 lbs. Troy can't do steps very well, although he tries! He has such a gung-ho spirit. Troy is on various medications, which is expected at his age and he has a medical plan to manage his needs. Teddy is very much attached to Troy, and he will need another dog in the house to be with since Troy unfortunately will not be with Teddy forever. Teddy does well with dogs of all sizes with quiet energy. Teddy loves to chase squirrels. It takes him a bit to warm up to humans, but he does and will be your friend with patience. I was surrendered  to the rescue by my family, because I was nipping at the younger children. There were far too many children to pick on me. I was terrified and had to defend myself. I've been with my foster mom since January and I think we have a few things straightened out regarding what kind of a home I need. I'm currently living in a quiet country home with a fenced yard where I can expend some energy chasing the squirrels.. We have a routine and infrequent visitors. A kind volunteer comes to walk me and I love my walks.There are other little dogs here and we get along fine but I do not like strange dogs and would be best as an only pet. I like to play with  squeaky toys, rope toys and nyla bones, am reliably house and crate trained and love to ride in the car and snuggle with foster mom when our day is done.  I turned two years old recently,  weigh 17 lbs. and have the cutest underbite. I am healthy, low maintenance, caught up on all my vaccinations and heart worm negative. I am VERY reactive to new people and situations and will bark and show fear aggression. I can be worked through this, if you have experience at socializing reactive dogs. It will be a work in progress to help me.
