I was surrendered to the rescue by my family, because I was nipping at the younger children. There were far too many children(6) to pick on me. I've been with my foster mom for a year now and I think we have a few things straightened out, regarding what kind of a home I need. I'm currently living in a quiet country home with a fenced yard where I can expend some energy chasing the squirrels.. We have a routine and infrequent visitors. There are other little dogs here and we get along fine, but I do not like strange dogs and would be best as an only pet. I like to play with squeaky toys, rope toys and nyla bones, am reliably house and crate trained and love to ride in the car and snuggle with foster mom when our day is done. I will be 3 years old soon, weigh 23 lbs. and have the cutest underbite. I am healthy, low maintenance, caught up on all my vaccinations and heart worm negative. I am VERY REACTIVE to new people and situations(stranger danger) and will bark and show fear aggression. I can be worked through this, if you have experience at socializing reactive dogs. Firkin spent almost six weeks at a local shelter, and when his foster mom asked them what his issues were, they told her he had none; no one had even asked to see him the entire time he’d been there She went and picked him up two days later We first thought he was a senior (his teeth were REALLY bad!) but the vet felt he was only about six or so. (It’s possible he is older, but we are listing him as six, according to our vet.) He’s had a full dental, and ended up losing a lot of teeth (his teeth were REALLY bad!) and has had all of the other vet care done to get him up to date and ready for his forever home. Firkin has a great disposition. He barks appropriately at strangers entering the home, but quickly settles down once he knows they’re ok. He’s fine in the house while his foster mom is away and doesn’t need to be crated, though she usually isn’t gone for more than 4-5 hours at a time. Firkin mostly just wants to hang out with his human. He is a champion napper, and sleeps on the bed with his foster mama, though he prefers to burrow under the blanket. An extra cover on top of the bedspread has become acceptable to him in lieu of tunneling under the bedspread. He is also happiest if there is a blanket for him to cover up under on the couch next to his person when it’s not bedtime. Firkin is accustomed to the fenced yard at his foster home, so that would be preferred. This dear boy was once loved by someone at some point. We are so glad for the chance to make sure that he gets the chance to be cherished and cared for again, and this time for the rest of his life. My name is Biscuit. According to the veterinarian, I am one year old and I weigh 18 lbs. I'm a stocky little fellow, a little on the chunky side. I am neutered, up today on my rabies and dhpp vaccines, and I am heartworm negative . I am fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. Because my owners are gone so long during the day, I am puppy pad trained. I will potty outside though if taken out. I am good with other dogs and children. I have been around toddlers and infants. I'm not sure about cats because the rescue does not have any. I will bark at a cat if I see one, but will stop barking after a few minutes. I love to play fetch and will bring back to you whatever you throw. I also love belly rubs and will roll over on command for one. I come when I'm called and I know how to sit. I will also walk on my hind legs for a treat. I walked on a leash for the first time for my video. As you can see, I did pretty good. I am very smart and I learn quickly. I love to be with people! I will follow my owner around the house and will snuggle up in the chair with him in the evening. I am very curious and attentive as to what my people are doing. I have I submissive temperament and a happy personality! I am well behaved in the house. I don't try to get in the trash or chew anything up. I have a medium energy level. I have a second video on the rescue website. My name is Chichi! I was born 11/1. I currently weigh 6 pounds.(2/16). I am fostered in Mount Airy, North Carolina, but easy, affordable transportation is available. I am a fun loving, happy little girl! I love to play with toys, other dogs, or anything that I can find on the floor or ground. The rescue is not sure how I am with cats because they don’t have any. I may bark at one, but I’m certainly not big enough to hurt one though. I love to be with people and will follow my foster all over the house. One of my favorite things to do is take long naps snuggled up in her lap. My foster is in a wheelchair and I have learned to stay clear of it. My ears are just starting to stand up.
