Meet Maizi! Maizi is an 8 old, 8 lb. chihuahua. Her foster mom calls her a bundle of love! Maizi is an affectionate dog when she lets you into her world! She loves to have your attention and will jump on your lap and into your arms any opportunity she sees. Maizi will cuddle up with you at bedtime and hides under the covers right next to you. When Maizi gets a little scared or feels insecure, she will run into her playpen and stay there for naps or until she feels comfortable. Maizi enjoys going for walks. She requires a harness as she gets excited to go and prefers to run a little at first, but quickly gets into a good walking rhythm. She doesn't seem to want to play with toys and shows no interest in them. Maizi would do best with a fenced in yard as she is very quick. Gates at all home entrance doors would be required for Maizi because if she sees any opportunity to run outside, she will take it and she is very fast! Maizi will need someone that is willing to use the gates at all times to keep her secure. Maizi takes to her one person and that is her world. She wants to be next to you, on your lap preferably or in her favorite bed by you. Maizi loves and requires your time and attention, so someone who is at home a lot with her would be her ideal owner. Maizi has not been around small children, but has been with 3 other small dogs in her foster home and enjoys chasing them around the fenced in yard and going for walks with them. Maizi gets cold quickly and does not mind wearing her sweaters when she is not snuggling next to you to stay warm. My name is Biscuit. According to the veterinarian, I am one year old and I weigh 18 lbs. I'm a stocky little fellow, a little on the chunky side. I am neutered, up today on my rabies and dhpp vaccines, and I am heartworm negative . I am fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. Because my owners are gone so long during the day, I am puppy pad trained. I will potty outside though if taken out. I am good with other dogs and children. I have been around toddlers and infants. I'm not sure about cats because the rescue does not have any. I will bark at a cat if I see one, but will stop barking after a few minutes. I love to play fetch and will bring back to you whatever you throw. I also love belly rubs and will roll over on command for one. I come when I'm called and I know how to sit. I will also walk on my hind legs for a treat. I walked on a leash for the first time for my video. As you can see, I did pretty good. I am very smart and I learn quickly. I love to be with people! I will follow my owner around the house and will snuggle up in the chair with him in the evening. I am very curious and attentive as to what my people are doing. I have a second video on the rescue website. My name is Chichi! I was born 11/1. I currently weigh 6 pounds.(2/16). I am fostered in Mount Airy, North Carolina, but easy, affordable transportation is available. I am a fun loving, happy little girl! I love to play with toys, other dogs, or anything that I can find on the floor or ground. The rescue is not sure how I am with cats because they don’t have any. I may bark at one, but I’m certainly not big enough to hurt one though. I love to be with people and will follow my foster all over the house. One of my favorite things to do is take long naps snuggled up in her lap. My foster is in a wheelchair and I have learned to stay clear of it. My ears are just starting to stand up. Hello! My name is Arianna. Ashlee has been my dog ever since I was a kid but since my parents separation, she hasn’t been in an ideal situation since. She now lives with my dad in a basement only coming upstairs to go outside. Shes neglected and i’m pretty sure she gets abused because she flinches really bad. I want a safe loving home for her thats gonna treat her the way she deserves for the rest of her years. I’m incapable because I live with my mom who has 3 large dogs so I feel really out of control in this situation. Ashlee really is a sweet and loving dog, but the neglect has changed her and she is more fiesty and scared now. She loves to run around, be outside, play, and go for walks. Hi, I’m Harper! I’m a 2-year-old, 23-pound Chihuahua/Labrador Retriever mix who loves being active. Before I was rescued by MBR, I had spent my whole life chained up outside, in southern Ohio, with a beat up "dog house" as my only protection from the elements. Because of this, I am looking for a forever family who will help me learn how to be a family dog! I still have accidents in the house every now and then, so am still working some on my potty training, but I am crate trained and keep it clean. I just started a 6-week obedience training course to help me become the most perfect gentleman I can be. I get along with other dogs and with cats, but would probably do best in a home with older or no kids, as I scared of loud noises and fast movements. In addition to potty training and just general house manners, my foster family has been working with me on guarding some of the things that I love the most. I didn't have much in my life before, and I'm afraid now someone will take away my most prized possesions and most love people, so I am learning how to share those things with others, and am doing SO GOOD with my training. Now that I have freedom from living on a chain, I have discovered that I love to run and explore, so would thrive in a home with a fenced yard OR someone who will take me for lots of walks so I can discover the world. Please don't just put me out on a chain again and make that be my only interaction with the outside world! I did have to be treated for Lyme disease and will need to get tested again in 6 months just to make sure the first round of medicine did it's job. Though I am timid at first, I’ll be sure to give you lots of love once I get to know you! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters.
