FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Boots - he and his littermates were part of an oops litter. The family couldn't keep them and by the time they came to us, they were already 6 months old. Mommy is a long haired chihuahua - but they were unusual looking so we did DNA and fell on the floor when the results just came in. 18% of their DNA is Malinois. It's obvious daddy was a bigger dog. With their long bodies, we actually thought dachshund or corgi. Ha! Boots is only about 12# at 6 months old. We still think they will be under 20# like mommy. Boots is currently in a foster home, learning all things puppy - crate training, leash walking and more. Once settled in, he's pretty silly and sweet. He loves to play with the resident dogs and would enjoy another dog in the home. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! This litter arrived a little fearful - still wagging tails, but a lot of change in their world so we are stressing the 333 Rule. New things like vacuum cleaners, odd TV noises, etc. provide a moment of pause. The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

Mittens is currently in a foster home, learning all things puppy - crate training, leash walking and more. Her foster mom said: - LOVES attention. Same as siblings, she comes and seeks it out. Shes like a pogo stick until she gets it. - It does seem like there is a lot in the world that is just new. Vacuum, hairdryer, TV, stairs.. all very weird to her. - Smart girl, picked up doggy door in less than an hour. - Loves dogs, loves playing with them. - I have no concerns about her picking up crate very quickly. She had a little tantrum but then slept for 4 hours on the very first day. It will only get better. - She seem very curious and playful. - Along with smart, she's a little contrary. She is picking up on corrections, like 'no,' but at times will question / test the direction This puppy is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Story
Meet Velma! She arrived at WAG with her mother and four littermates from the west end of Clallam County. They have all been in a loving foster home, but are ready for their forever homes!  Velma and her siblings were born on September 21, 2025. They are a mix of small breeds and may grow to be 17-20 lbs. Velma is the smallest in the litter due to a heart murmur, but she has been seen by a cardiologist who believes she will grow out of it. Puppies from WAG require a visibly fenced yard, no children under the age of eight please, and someone able to give them the consistent training needed to mature into a well-behaved dog. A friendly dog or cat under 8 years old in the home would be a plus to give some additional companionship. WAG will provide age appropriate vaccinations. The adopter will be responsible for completing vaccinations and getting Velma spayed by six months of age or at the age recommended by their vet. Visit our website to fill out an Adoption Application http://www.wagsequimwa.com If you have any questions, please email: office@wagsequimwa.com. Most of our dogs require a fully fenced yard, this does depend on the individual dogs needs and safety requirements. Adoption donation fee up to $350 (Please understand this adoption donation goes towards helping all the dogs we rescue) January 2, 2026, 3:24 pm

Story
Meet Latte! This little boy is living up to his name and is full of energy. He was born in late June 2025 and may have been too energetic for his previous owners. We're not sure of Latte's breed make up, but we do not anticipate him growing too big- maybe 20 pounds. He has long legs and will likely be taller than most other dogs his weight. WAG will provide age appropriate vaccinations prior to adoption, but it will be the responsibility of the adopter to get Latte neutered at the age recommended by their veterinarian. Like all of WAG's puppies, Latte needs his adoptive home to have a securely fenced yard, people that can dedicate a lot of time to his training so he can grow into a well-behaved dog, and no children under 5 please. Another small to medium sized dog under age 8 in the home may make for a good companion for Latte, but his puppy energy and teething would be overwhelming to cats. Visit our website to fill out an Adoption Application http://www.wagsequimwa.com If you have any questions, please email: office@wagsequimwa.com. Most of our dogs require a fully fenced yard, this does depend on the individual dogs needs and safety requirements.
