Story
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Beanie - she and her littermates were part of an oops litter. The family couldn't keep them and by the time they came to us, they were already 6 months old. Mommy is a long haired chihuahua - but they were unusual looking so we did DNA and fell on the floor when the results just came in. 18% of their DNA is Malinois. It's obvious daddy was a bigger dog. With their long bodies, we actually thought dachshund or corgi. Ha! Beanie is only about 11# at 6 months old. We still think they will be under 20# like mommy. Beanie is currently in a foster home, learning all things puppy - crate training, leash walking and more. Once settled in, she's pretty silly and sweet. She loves to play with the resident dogs and would enjoy another dog in the home. This puppy is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! This litter arrived a little fearful - still wagging tails, but a lot of change in their world so we are stressing the 333 Rule. New things like vacuum cleaners, odd TV noises, etc. provide a moment of pause. The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

With their long bodies, we actually thought dachshund or corgi. Ha! Parka is the largest in the litter - about 15# at 6 months old. We still think he will be in the 25# range, mommy is 20#. He's also got longer legs and taller than his siblings. Parka is currently in a foster home, learning all things puppy - crate training, leash walking and more. Honestly - he's Rocking this foster thing. He's meeting all kinds of human and dog friends! His foster mom said: "Parka had a Fun day today. JackPot and Olive helped at training class. Afterwards we got to run around their fenced acreage. Parka did great, ran around but also checked in. Then we did a nice walk at Pac Rim Institute which is always full of new smells and noises. I think I’ve only heard Parka bark once which is shocking considering how much our dogs bark. He’s sort of chill." Once settled in, he's pretty silly and sweet. He loves to play with the resident dogs and would enjoy another dog in the home. He's having so many adventures with his foster pack! This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. TEXAS ADOPTION ONLY Keke is a cutie pie kind of name. And believe it or not..my life hasn't been a "cutie pie" kind of life, until NOW! Now I am part of the cool kids ;) no hair loss, yeast infection, poor nutrition for me!!!! I am not "hoping" for food today, I have more than I need:) my foster family is just the best! So here are a few facts about me; I am great with other dogs and love a doggy friend in my furever home..no felines though...they r not my favorite friends.... I am looking forward to having my own family, one that will commit to me furever. I ended up in rescue because my mom had to go to a nursing home and none of the family wanted to take care of me...... so here I am looking for you! Don't make me wait too long!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX only)
