WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🐾💛 Meet Gordo — 8 Pounds of Love, Loyalty, and Lap-Warming Perfection 💛🐾 Gordo has been waiting… and waiting… and we honestly don’t understand how this little guy is still looking for his forever home. At just 3 years old and 8 pounds, Gordo is living proof that the very best things come in the tiniest, snuggliest packages. This sweet Chihuahua mix is equal parts lap warmer, cuddle champion, and loyal sidekick. He adores being close to his person and will happily follow you from room to room like a tiny, devoted shadow. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who truly wants to be with you — not just near you — Gordo is your guy. He does have a soft spot for the ladies (Gentlemen, don’t worry—he’ll accept you too, but he’s a mama’s boy at heart!) and would thrive in a calm, quiet home. He’d also be thrilled to have a small doggie friend to sunbathe with and share naps. Kids aren’t really his vibe, but cozy couches and peaceful routines? Absolutely. 💊 A little extra love note about Gordo: Gordo is considered special needs due to occasional seizures, which are well managed with daily medication (Levetiracetam and Phenobarbital - about $50 every two months). He takes his meds like a champ and doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. He’ll also need Midazolam on hand, just in case he does have a seizure — though thankfully, his meds are working very well and he rarely has one. Now for the fun stuff… 🐶 Gordo’s Favorite Things: • Being used as a living neck pillow • Sunbathing like a tiny beach bum • Napping with doggie friends • Shamelessly begging for watermelon 🍉 • Sitting in your lap… always • Staring down the vacuum like a brave little warrior He’s house trained, crate trained, and happily trots into his crate at mealtime like the good boy he is. Gordo is gentle, affectionate, and incredibly loving — the kind of dog who bonds deeply and gives his whole heart once he feels safe. This little guy has been through a lot in his short life, but he hasn’t let it dim his sweetness or his desire to love. He’s just waiting for someone to see how special he truly is and give him the calm, loving home he deserves. 💛 If you’re looking for a devoted companion, a constant cuddle buddy, and a tiny soul who will adore you endlessly — Gordo is ready to wiggle into your heart and home! Apply today at haydudeequine.org and give this sweet boy the forever home he’s been waiting for. 💖

Story
Animal Profile: Melody is an adorable Chihuahua mix who joined us from Modesto, CA on 2/13/2025. She is dog and people friendly, and was kenneled with other small dogs in the shelter. Foster Update:  Meet Melody, affectionately called "Bunny" in her foster home. She is a sweet and sassy chihuahua-terrier mix. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and is curious about cats—she just wants to play! A confident, dog-savvy cat could be a good match, but some felines might not appreciate her enthusiasm. Melody has plenty to say and would do best in a single-family home, where she can have her daily conversations without disturbing neighbors. While she’s friendly and sweet with everyone, she can get a bit mouthy during play, so a home without young children is ideal. Melody is happy to keep herself occupied with toys or a nice bone, but above all else she is just thrilled to sit and snuggle in your lap. She’s making great progress with house and crate training and is working on her leash manners. If you're looking for a fun, sassy sidekick, Melody might just be the one! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus Animal Services in Modesto, CA.  She arrives in Seattle on 02/13/25 via START rescue transport and will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.  October 17, 2025, 11:31 pm

Animal Information: Jeremy is an estimated 1 year old, male, chihuahua/dachshund mix currently weighing approximately 12lbs. He has been pulled from our rescue partner, Tulare, in California due to overcrowding. He is described as a happy and friendly pup. He was kenneled with Juniper. Foster Profile: Jeremy is a social dog who gets along great with people and dogs. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Story
Animal Profile:  Elvis is an already charming everyone he meets. He is quiet in his crate and hasn't had any accidents in the home. He's energetic, loving, playful and friendly.  We can't wait to share more updates as he settles in to his foster home in the PNw.  Foster Update:  Elvis is a 6-month-old rescue pup with a big personality packed into a tiny body! This spunky little guy is like a wind-up toy—full of joyful energy, always ready to play, and guaranteed to make you smile. He absolutely loves people and other dogs, and he’s learning the ropes when it comes to cats.  Elvis is a sweet soul who is ready to start his basic obedience training. He’s making great progress with potty training, is fully crate trained, and sleeps through the night like a champ. He walks nicely on a leash, comes when you call, and is eager to please. At just 8.2 pounds, Elvis is still a little guy with a bit of growing left to do—but he’ll stay small. What he lacks in size, he more than makes up for in love, charm, and playful spirit. If you’re looking for a tiny companion with a huge heart, Elvis just might be your perfect match! Adoption Info:  Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Story
Animal Profile: Aragorn is an estimated 2-year-old, 11 lb Chihuahua mix. He was rescued from Stanislaus Animal Services, where he was at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. Aragorn was nervous in the kennel, but was easily handled. He will do so much better outside of a noisy, stressful shelter. He was brought in with several other Chihuahuas (Frodo and Pippin) and is dog friendly. Foster Update:  Aragorn is a timid little cutie that is looking for a mellow home with another playful dog. Aragorn will need a patient and confident adopter who can show him the world is not so scary and provide the security he needs as he gains confidence. Aragorn needs a secure and quiet environment with a fully fenced yard; he does enjoy climbing trees so adopters should be mindful of their landscaping. He loves playing with the resident dogs in his foster home. We are only considering homes with another playful resident dog (or two) to help him feel comfortable.  Aragorn uses the doggie door in his foster home and has been doing great going potty outside; no accidents inside.   He is wagging his tail, chewing on chew toys, and running around the house with the resident dogs. He still runs away from humans if we approach him, even with food or treats. He will sit next to us on the couch and let us pet him.  Any potential adopter would, as we said, need to be very committed and very patient, and understand that he may never be a "people" dog.  He's extremely sweet though, and would make a great companion for someone's lonely dog!  Out in the world, Aragorn walks nicely on leash. Though uncertain about the environment, he will look to his foster humans for cues and confidence. He is nervous, but he did well walking through the Edmonds Farmer's Market. He's getting more relaxed around us and strangers. He loves his toys and collecting them in little piles, especially outside. He's great on the leash and in the car. He's really smart, having learned his temporary name and some other words without any particular training from us. He's still standoffish and prefers to be left to his own devices, or left to play with his foster brothers, but he's really sweet. He'll make a great companion for someone and their resident dog(s)! Adopter profile: experienced dog owner, resident dog (or two), fenced yard, no kids, willing to continue crate training. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Story
Animal Profile: Rea is a 1-year-old, 13 lb Chihuahua mix with the sweetest personality. She was sadly confiscated and taken to the shelter after her owner was arrested. Due to overcrowding, Rea quickly found herself at risk and in urgent need of a safe place. When we saw her photos and videos—her wagging tail, gentle eyes, and friendly charm—we knew we had to help her! Rea is now safe and arrived in Washington on 11/13. We can’t wait to help this little sweetheart find the loving forever home she deserves! Foster Update:  Rea is a sleek, mostly black (with the cutest small patches of white), adorably hilarious little lowrider who is coming along nicely on her leash and crate training. We're working on her leash manners and other basic command training. She's great in the crate, sleeping through the night. She is working on potty training as she still has accidents in the house despite getting walks daily and going out in backyard minimum every 2 hours. She loves running around the yard and doesn't seem to mind the PNW weather. In fact, on walks she actively seeks out splashing through puddles, the little stinker! Playtime entails running around the back yard, chasing balls but not bringing them back yet, and enjoying stuffies or chew time either in her crate, out in the room, or on a raised cot. She can entertain herself or will play with the other foster dog in her foster home. She's always up for a game of tug!    Rea can be a little whiny in her crate even when her person is in the room, worse when they leave the room or house, but is responding well to interventions and seems to settle after about 10 minutes after her people leave the house. She's young but very trainable as she's both affection and food motivated. She wants to be close to her person and will make a funny, fun, cutie little companion for some lucky person or family. She could do well as an only dog or with a dog companion who can support showing her how to be part of a pack. With continued leadership and loving guidance, she's sure to be an awesome doggo!    Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration.
