Found on the side of a Texan highway at 6 months old, Nala had a tough start to life, but after a short stretch in a foster home, she joined my family where she has been loved and cared for like nobody’s business. Nala is now 5 years old and has been with the same family since her initial adoption. She’s the SWEETEST girl & wants nothing more than to snuggle her human all day every day, but given her start in life, she can be fearful/defensive. In particular she struggles with men & children. She doesn’t like when young dogs get in her face, & she should not live with cats. Any rehoming fee is only being collected to ensure her safety, and will be donated to the shelter I adopted her from. Experience with chihuahuas and/or rescues preferred.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet  Mowie , a charming Chihuahua/Terrier mix with a survival story as cool as the storm he escaped!   Born around  August 4, 2024 , and weighing in at a sturdy  15.9 pounds , Mowie is the definition of a "tough guy with a heart of gold." He was discovered hanging around the guard shack at  Randolph AFB  just as a major ice storm was rolling in. The kind-hearted guards had been sharing their lunches with him to keep him going, but they knew he needed a warm hearth to survive the freeze.   Mowie is a truly great boy who is ready to trade base security for home security. He does have one quirky "occupational hazard": he’s a bit of a serial humper when it comes to other dogs, which hasn't always won him friends at the park. However, he was  recently neutered , and we are optimistic that this will help him keep his "enthusiasm" in check as his hormones settle down.   Mowie’s Stats: Birthday:  ~08/04/2024 (approx. 1.5 years old) Weight:  15.9 lbs Background:  Air Force Base veteran & lunch-sharing expert Personality:  Resilient, social, and brave If you’re looking for a loyal companion who has been "cleared for duty," Mowie is your man! My foster family believes I spent most of my life outdoors, so the magical world of living inside a house has been a brand-new adventure. At first, things like couches, crates, and all the strange human routines seemed as mysterious as the Room of Requirement. But I'm a clever witch-in-training and have been learning quickly! I've already mastered my crate, walk beautifully on a leash, and absolutely love exploring every corner of my kingdom. I'm still studying advanced spells like potty training and figuring out which treasures are acceptable chew toys and which ones belong to my humans. Progress, not perfection! One thing is certain: I've fully embraced my inner princess. These days you'll find me proudly strutting through the house, ears bouncing, following my favorite people from room to room to make sure no magical adventures happen without me. I get along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and am great with kids too. Whether it's joining the pack for playtime or soaking up attention from my humans, I'm happiest when surrounded by friends. When I first arrived, I had some hair loss that made me look a little less magical than I felt, but after treatment my beautiful coat is growing back nicely.
