Story
Animal Profile: NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS  Olina  is an estimated 4-year-old 11 lb spayed female small short coated mixed breed who was found as a stray in April and at risk due to limited space at Fresno Humane. The shelter reports that she is shy but sweet and easy to handle and playful with other dogs. We will share more as we get to know her in foster care. Seattle Foster Update: Update 8/6- Olina is making amazing progress in foster care. She is doing great with her leash training and meeting new dogs. She will still need a slow introduction and continued leash training but she has improved every day. She has enjoyed some busy hikes in the PNW and has decided she is not much of a fan of cats. Once her walk or hike is over she is ready to be your snuggle buddy.  Olina is a happy, energetic, and loving.   She is very easy to care for and has great house manners!  She's not shy at all about meeting new people and would ask for pets right away. She enjoys meeting new dogs but requires a proper introduction. She is doing great with her crate training, house training and leash manners. She would do well in an apartment setting or a home with a yard, she has a moderate amount of activity but settles down well with lots of snuggles.    Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was rescued from Fresno Animal Shelter and arrived in Seattle on Tuesday 6/6/23. She was found as a stray in the Fresno area in April 2023. This dog will be available for adoption in Seattle once evaluated. September 29, 2023, 12:51 am

Story
Animal Profile: Shyshy is a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix. Her family surrendered her and her puppy, Whisper, when they were no longer able to care for the number of dogs in the household. Shyshy is friendly with people and is used to living with other small dogs.  Foster Update: Shyshy is a wonderful little girl with tons of love to give to the family lucky enough to adopt her! While she is shy with new people and situations, once she knows you she will love you with the full force of 100 dogs! She becomes very attached to her people, but doesn't have much direct interaction with other dogs. She has been respectful of my resident dogs' space, and even submissive, but I have yet to see them play (they do sit in beds together sometimes though).  Shyshy is perfectly potty trained and does fantastic in her crate at night, as long as she can still see you. She cries out when you first leave or arrive, and she will be very, very excited when you first arrive home to greet her, but will quickly settle down. She is not reactive to anything I've seen, preferring to quietly observe from the lap of her person. She's been doing great on her walks, with the presence of my dogs as an example, and increasingly familiar territory helps her confidently and eagerly explore the world around her. The thing that Shyshy needs to work on goes hand in hand with her strengths: she loves her humans, but sometimes can be too dependent, following her person around like a shadow, needing to be on your lap always, etc. I wouldn't call it separation anxiety because it doesn't seem that severe, but she will need a family that can continue to help her increase her confidence and independence. Shyshy is one of the sweetest, snuggliest dogs you'll ever meet with a ton of love to offer her family. Although she lives up to her name at first, she will quickly come out of her shell to shower you with all the affection you can handle! Adoption Info: Shyshy's adoption fee is $550 which includes her spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, and recent evaluation with a veterinarian. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application  September 29, 2023, 12:51 am

Ernest - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Ernest Goes To Jail, yes, to my embarrassment and dismay, I was found as a stray and spent some time in the doggie slammer. It seemed like forever!! But thanks to this rescue I got out on good behavior and am ready for that freedom ride! Yes, Ernest Rides Again!!! I'm just hoping your home is my last ride!! I have been working on the whole house and crate training thing and have got it down. I may have spent most of my life outside but I've caught on quickly. I coming to see that this whole living inside with a soft bed and a warm lap to lay on is pretty darn nice!! I would do best in a quiet adult only home. I'm needing my space but will come seeking companionship when I want it. Kinda like a cat in that sense. I do well with other dogs but would prefer a more mellow sibling that isn't too bouncy and constantly in my space. At 9 years and only 11lbs I would make a great family addition for someone that is looking for a great lil guy to chill with them. I'm already out of that destructive stage but still enjoy neighborhood strolls and catching some rays in the backyard. If you're looking for that needy pup that is always under foot seeking you attention, I'm not your boy. But if you want an independent lil guy that is just happy being in the same room, I might just be that lil man!! I would love to be your lil side kick....so what do ya say? Can I come home with you?!!

Story
Animal Profile: Koby is a 3-year-old, 16 lb male Chihuahua who joined us from California on 2/14/2021. He was found as a stray in southern CA and rescued from Moreno Valley Shelter. He was adopted to a home that was not a good fit for him, due to this boy's huge personality packed into a small body. Koby thinks he's a big dog and will need structure and leadership typically required of larger breed 'experience needed' type of dogs, but once you have his respect, he's incredibly fun, confident, and eager to please. He loves to play with dogs of all sizes and is now fully obedience trained.  Seattle Foster Update: Meet Koby! He is an energetic boy and affectionate pup. True to his breed, he is trusting and very bonded to his people once he has a little time to warm up but does require a slow introduction with new people. He is looking for an experienced home that can advocate for him and is willing to take the time to earn his trust. Koby does well with other dogs and loves to play, and would do best in a home with a balanced companion. He loves to run around, play with toys and follow the pack. Koby has great house manners and is good at entertaining himself throughout the day.  He has big dog energy and would love a walking or hiking companion. He can easily go 6 miles in a day. He is house trained and does well in his crate. Koby has been thriving in his foster home and excelling in his training. He knows many commands and will need to be held accountable in a new home. He can coexist with cats. Adopter Profile: Dog experience needed Other dog(s) in home preferred (not required) Dog savvy cats considered No kids Willing to provide structure and continue with training Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter in California  on 2/14/21 and adopted shortly thereafter; he was returned to the rescue after over a year and has since been fostered with Dog B Good (trainers) in Federal Way. He is now available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.September 29, 2023, 12:51 am

Mandy - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! The name Mandy is short for Amanda which means worthy of love or loveable. Mandy's are also known to be friendly, outgoing, and optimistic. They also are simple, honest, sincere, and have a natural talent for bringing people together. At only 4 months I am an active playful pup that still has a lot of learning to do, and with your help, I'm ready to ROCK it!! My house training is coming along and I'm getting pretty good at going outside to potty. I do real well with the other foster pups here and would love having a playful sibling to torment...oops, did I say that out loud? I meant to say play with. ;) At around 5lbs I should be around the 10lb range when I get fully growed up. I'll stay on the small side so it'll be easy to just scoop me up and take along on all your daily activities. My favoritest time is you and me time, no matter what we're doing!! And the bestest thing is I don't take up much room on the couch or recliner. I'm a perfect fit for just about any lap! The sun is shining up in the sky, throwing you your little shadow...ME! Never be by yourself again, I'll follow you from room to room to outside to back inside. Even when the sun goes away at the end of the day, you'll know it's still there cuz I will always be right there!!

Story
Animal Profile: Sox is a 1-2 year old, 17 lb Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. He was found as a stray with his buddy Dexter. Sox craves attention from everyone he meets, but is a little shy, so going slow is the fastest way to earn his trust. He is house and crate trained. Due to his background as a stray, his leash manners are a work in progress but he’s a fast learner! Sox is friendly with small dogs and cats (he just hasn’t met any large dogs in his current foster home). He’s also familiar with kids, but would do best with older, dog-respectful children as loud noises and fast movements can startle him.  Foster Update: Sox is a sweet boy who will require owners that are patient and willing to go slow with him as he builds his confidence. He still gets nervous when he hears new sounds or we move a little too quickly, but he’s gaining confidence everyday. Sox is working on consistency with his crate manners. The first time we left him, he whined the whole time. However, he’s been slowly getting better each time he’s crated while we’re gone. If we’re home, he generally does pretty well and settles down quickly. He also sleeps the whole night in the crate without making a sound.  Sox is very hesitant with new people and this is the area that he’ll need to work on most. He gets pretty scared of strangers, and usually tucks his tail and tries to hide. He’s growled on a few occasions but has never shown any sort of aggression toward a person. He isn’t the type to love a stranger right away, and you’ll have to have patience and let him approach you on his own terms. Once he trusts you though, he always wants to be with you.  He loves going on walks and is a pretty good walker. He especially likes to walk fast, so he tends to pull a bit if you’re not going the speed he likes, but he takes leash corrections well. For the most part, he ignores dogs on walks. Occasionally, he does get scared of them and tries to hide behind your legs. He can also get spooked by loud noises or people when walking. He loves to play and is very respectful with our senior 12 lb. dog. He also recently started showing an interest in crinkly toys.  Whatever home is lucky enough to have Sox will need to be patient with him so he can come out of his shell, and committed to helping him build his confidence. I think he’d love a similarly sized, playful dog, but would also do well as an only dog. He may struggle in a busier city environment with all the noises, but could likely learn to adapt with time.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from Animal Advocacy & Rescue our partner in Del Rio Texas and arriving to Seattle area foster care on 08/09/23. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated.September 29, 2023, 12:51 am
