Animal Profile: Tank is estimated to be around 8 years old and weighs about 15lbs. He was surrendered to RASKC when his owner passed away. He we very confused and stressed out in a shelter environment, so the shelter coordinator reached out to see if we could help. We could see that Tank was nervous and needed some time to decompress after going through such a dramatic life change. We look forward to getting to know him in foster care and matching him with a new family for life. Foster Update: Meet Tank! This sweet boy has gone through some stressful life changes, but he is making great strides and getting settled into foster care. Tank's foster mom shares, "Tank (we've been calling him Hank) is a fun little guy. He is nervous when meeting new people but adjusts quickly. We are taking him out daily to get him used to the sights and sounds of people and other animals. He does really well in the house, no barking, loves his crate and plays with our resident dog. He has been ignoring  our cat. We feel he could do well with a canine companion, or as a single dog." Because Hank is uncomfortable with hands reaching out to him, he will need to be in an adult-only home. We'll continue to post more info as Hank settles in! Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Animal History: Tank was surrendered to Regional Animal Services of King County in February, and arrived in our care on 02/25/25. He will be available for adoption after evaluation foster care. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-applicationMarch 31, 2025, 4:24 am

Story
Animal Profile: Chester is an estimated 6-year-old, 7.8 lb male Chihuahua who was found as a stray in Louisiana and transferred to the Pacific Northwest for a second chance at life. He is a gentle, affectionate, and resilient little dog who thrives on companionship and forms strong bonds with his humans. Foster Update: Chester is a sweet and expressive companion who is quickly settling into foster care. While initially described as more sedentary, his foster has found that he enjoys longer nature walks and does well staying close to heel. He is especially food-motivated, which makes reinforcing good leash manners a breeze. As a likely "fair weather" walker, he may prefer to skip the rain, but he’s happy to be out and about when skies are clear. He’s playful and joyful with toys—he loves fetch and is learning the joys of a good squeaker. Chester also rides nicely in the car and is getting used to being secured with a car harness for safety. He is making steady progress with crate training and can now spend time alone during the day. Chester is also improving with house training and is learning quickly with consistent routines. Chester would do well in a home with adults and/or children, and he appears to have experience living with people—perhaps even a senior individual, based on his calm and affectionate demeanor. He is friendly with both men and women and often chooses a favorite person to follow loyally from room to room. While he can coexist with other dogs, Chester has shown some resource guarding behaviors around high-value items, so any canine introductions should be done thoughtfully. He could also thrive as the only dog in a calm, loving household. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from Caddo Parish Animal Shelter in Shreveport Louisiana and arriving to Seattle via Tail Lights Rescue Project on 3/23/25. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care. May 30, 2025, 3:38 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Tate is an adorable ~2-3 year old, 8 lb chihuahua/spaniel mix who was rescued from a high kill shelter in CA along with his buddy, Tyler. Both dogs were seen tail wagging and accepting pets/affection in their shelter video, and they arrived in the Seattle area on Sunday, March 16. Tate seems to be the more shy pup of the duo, and would benefit from a canine companion in his foster home. Foster Update: Meet Tate, aka Tater Tot! This sweet, adorable boy has getting settled into foster care and is eager to find a loving forever family of his own. Tate has taken a few weeks to settle in, but that’s understandable given his journey. He does great in his crate and even prefers to sleep there at night. He's fully house trained with no issues. While he didn't have experience on leash before he arrived with us, he is now doing pretty well! He is getting more curious to explore outside, and having another dog on his walks has helped him get more comfortable. He can get spooked by loud noises or people, but every day he’s improving. He may have initial ‘stranger danger’ upon meeting someone, especially men, so we ask that his forever family go slow and be patient. Once he warms up to you, he’s all kisses and wants belly rubs. Tater Tot would enjoy a canine companion to help show him the ropes (though he can be pushy when seeking affection, so a tolerant dog is preferred) but he would do okay as the only dog, so long as his humans can help meet his needs with growing his confidence. Tate can be vocal when excited and we are working on him not jumping up when he’s excited. All around, he’s just the sweetest little Tater Tot! Tate would do best in an adult-only home with adopters that are comfortable being patient as he settles in, and committed to continuing to help this guy grow his confidence.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, andhealth certificate. Animal Profile: Tino is an approximately 2 year old, 15 lb male mixed breed who was taken in as a stray, along with a female shepherd, and kenneled with a husky. He does well with other dogs and is social/friendly with people, too. Foster Update: Tino is very cuddly, social, playful and charming. He's house trained (he hasn't had any accidents inside) and good in his crate. (He sleeps through the night without any issues.) We think he probably came from a nice home because he seems well adjusted. Tino is very smart and learns quickly. He responds to "sit" if he's not overstimulated, and we're working on helping him with his impulse control. He has so much puppy energy! He's also learning leash manners. Tino likes to be outside and likes to run. He will do well with an active family, or one that has another dog he can play with. Story
Animal Profile: Bud is a pint-sized cutie joining us from Modesto, CA on 2/13/2025. This little Chihuahau mix guy weighs in at only 13 pounds and has the most adorable lil under-bite. He is dog friendly and though shy at first, a total love with people. Foster Update:  Bud has settled in quickly and gets along with both our big and small dogs. He’s an energetic, curious and playful little bruiser. He enjoys fetch, wrestling with his stuffies, and exploring the yard. He also likes walks, even when it’s cold and wet outside, and isn’t phased by other people or dogs. We even ran into a friendly cat on one walk, and he just wanted to say hi! We’re working on leash manners, as he zig-zags a lot wanting to sniff all the new smells, but he’ll get the hang of it in no time. He’s great in his crate, but is good free-roaming the house as well when someone is home. Oh and he’s a HUGE snuggle bug!! His favorite place is curled up beside his human. Bud would prefer to go to a home with at least one other friendly canine companion. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Story
Animal Profile: Melody is an adorable Chihuahua mix who joined us from Modesto, CA on 2/13/2025. She is dog and people friendly, and was kenneled with other small dogs in the shelter. Foster Update:  Meet Melody, affectionately called "Bunny" in her foster home. She is a sweet and sassy chihuahua-terrier mix. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and is curious about cats—she just wants to play! A confident, dog-savvy cat could be a good match, but some felines might not appreciate her enthusiasm. Melody has plenty to say and would do best in a single-family home, where she can have her daily conversations without disturbing neighbors. While she’s friendly and sweet with everyone, she can get a bit mouthy during play, so a home without young children is ideal. Melody is happy to keep herself occupied with toys or a nice bone, but above all else she is just thrilled to sit and snuggle in your lap. She’s making great progress with house and crate training and is working on her leash manners. If you're looking for a fun, sassy sidekick, Melody might just be the one! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Story
Mickey is a chihuahua mix but not sure what breed his dad is. Mickey can be a very sweet dog but he is very afraid of strangers and other dogs. He barks a lot at door knocks and door bells. He has developed a fear of strangers but with time and patience he does get better. He likes to play fetch and enjoys belly rubs when you get past the fear. We have started introducing him to another dog in the house and while he is getting better he is still afraid. Mickey would do well in a quieter home with one person or a small family with older kids. He is housebroken but he doesn't like to go outside in the rain. He would do well with someone who is experienced with small breeds and knows how to help them overcome their fears. He knows his basic commands, sit, stay, roll over, home, and speak and is treat motivated. I just cannot give him what he needs right now.

Story
Animal Profile: Murphy is an estimated 4 year old, 10 lb male Pomeranian who joined us from Stockton, CA on 1/22/25. Murphy has a lot of potential to be a great family pet but he was pretty scared and shut down in the shelter. Shelter staff reported that he was nervous about being handled but that he warmed up on a leash, out of the kennel, and came around for affection with just a little patience. Foster Update: Meet Murphy – The Perfect Little Co-Pilot! Murphy is a joy to have around. He recently joined me on a long drive to pick up my kid from college and was the perfect travel buddy—calm, cuddly, and totally adorable with his head out the window. He loves being held, is great with new people, and handles new environments like a champ. Murphy really shines when he’s getting attention and being close to his people. Murphy needs a home with no small children and no apartments, and he’ll do best with someone who can give him lots of love and companionship. Ready to meet your new best friend? Murphy's waiting! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate.
