Story
Animal Information: Skeeter is an estimated 6 year 12 lb chihuahua who was a stray intake to Tulare County municipal animal shelter and at risk for euthanasia for length of stay. He's been housed with multiple other small dogs (all adopted) but is passed over because, well, he's a middle aged black chihuahua. There's nothing wrong with him, just a normal little dog, friendly with other dogs and people. His time is now! He's coming to rescue! We look forward to getting to know him in foster care.  Foster Profile: Skeeter is a friendly, charming little guy who quickly wins people over with his affectionate temperament and confident, easygoing manner. He walks politely on a leash, is reliably housebroken, and is quiet in the home, rarely barking. He ignores the resident cat and shows little interest in other dogs during walks. At home, he has formed a strong bond with my resident dog, following him everywhere and seeking close companionship. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization (ID 81-5101166). Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Skeeter was a stray intake to Tulare County and at risk for euthanasia due to length of stay. He'll be arriving to DGS on Monday 6/22 via our rescue partner Furry Freight, and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.July 21, 2026, 11:28 am

Story
Animal Information: Trumpet is a 1-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix with the look of a miniature retriever and a personality to match. This sweet boy gets along well with other dogs, loves meeting new people, and is always eager to make new friends. Trumpet was found wandering as a stray, and when our shelter contact reached out to tell us about this staff favorite, we couldn't resist. We knew we had to help him find the home he deserves. With his friendly nature, charming looks, and affectionate spirit, Trumpet is ready to bring joy and companionship to one lucky family here in the PNW!  Foster Profile: Trumpet is a little lovebug and the perfect couch buddy. He's a goofball who wiggles around on his back, waves his feet in the air, and army crawls on the floor. He also loves to snuggle up with other dogs. He prefers to sleep in the same room as his family. Give him a big nest of blankets in a crate with some soft toys and he will sleep quietly through the night. He likes a leisurely stroll around the block where he can explore every shrub and sniff every flower. A true Seattle-ite, he's a big fan of dog-friendly coffee shops where he can meet new people and get little treats. He's very cooperative getting his eye stains cleaned every day and tolerates people touching his feet. He's progressing nicely with basic training (sit, stay, come, crate), although he gets distracted sometimes so he still needs some practice. Overall, he's an easy-going dog and a joyful addition to the home. Animal Information: Ginger is about 4 years old and weighs 17 lbs. She was originally spotted in a known dumping area in Modesto, California, before being safely caught alongside another dog by a kind Samaritan and brought to the shelter. This lovely girl has clearly had puppies in the past, but those days are behind her now. She is friendly with people and gets along well with other dogs. Ginger is ready for a fresh start and we are excited to watch her continue to blossom with love, patience, and plenty of TLC in foster care. Foster Profile: Coming Soon! Story
PLEASE NOTE! WE ARE A TEXAS-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY IN TEXAS AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO YOUR STATE ONCE ADOPTED. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. Hi, I’m Zella! ❤️ I’m a 3-year-old, 22-pound Chihuahua/Min Pin mix who’s basically a tiny professional cuddler with a side gig in melting hearts. If you’re looking for a dog who’s 90% sweetness and 10% “I will stare at you until you give me belly rubs,” congratulations — you found her! I get along with basically everyone: dogs, cats, kids, grandparents, the mailman… I’m an equal-opportunity love sponge. My life goal is to be everyone’s favorite little shadow and part-time lap warmer. I’m also shockingly well-behaved for a small dog. I’m house trained like a champ, a dog door expert, and I treat my kennel like a luxury spa. You can actually trust me in the house — I know, I’m basically a unicorn. In short: I’m the gentle, goofy, ridiculously sweet girl who will follow you from room to room, give you the big sparkly eyes, and make you wonder how you ever lived without this much love in a 22-pound package. Ready to bring home your new favorite tiny best friend? I promise I’ll make it worth your while with maximum snuggles and minimal chaos (mostly). 🐾

Story
Animal Profile: Aragorn is an estimated 3-year-old, 11 lb Chihuahua mix. He was rescued from Stanislaus Animal Services, where he was at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. Aragorn was nervous in the kennel, but was easily handled. He will do so much better outside of a noisy, stressful shelter. He was brought in with several other Chihuahuas (Frodo and Pippin) and is dog friendly. Foster Update:   Are you not sure if you want a dog or a cat? Or maybe you want a cat but also a security system? Aragorn is the boy for you. He's not a cuddler and allows pets only on his schedule (mornings are best, belly please). But he's sweet and calm, loves other dogs once they are in the pack - a home with another dog is a must! - and loves to have a job. Give him a fence to patrol or a treat to find and he's happy and vigilant. He's great once on the leash, although getting him there can take a while. He's not big on crowds or new experiences, but meal time or a fresh new bone make him delirious with joy. He'll do best in a home with a consistent routine, another dog, a big yard, and a parent with the patience to see the sweet, loving, loyal little dog under the standoffishness. Adopter profile: experienced dog owner, resident dog (or two), fenced yard, no kids, willing to continue crate training. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus Animal Services in Modesto, CA.  She arrives in Seattle on 01/22/25 via START rescue transport and will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.July 21, 2026, 11:28 am

Story
Animal Information: Pickles was listed as a 2-year-old male Chihuahua mix that was overweight at 15 lbs. Pickles' owner passed away and he was surrendered to the shelter with a small pack of dogs. The shelter staff are big fans -- apparently Pickles is a dilly big deal! He is affectionate and friendly with everyone he meets, and other than being a little overweight, he doesn't seem to have any quirks to work on. Foster Profile: We quickly realized Pickles was actually about 6 years old, he needed a dental, and to loose some weight. Luckily he is getting in lots of good walks with his foster mama, and just weighed in at 11.9lbs as of 7/17. He is still working on his bikini bod, but with continued exersize and a good quality diet, the weight will continue to come off. Pickles lives with other dogs and cats and gets along well with everyone. He might give a grumble if someone tries to steal the lap he is on, but is easily corrected with a verbal "no". Pickles would do well in almost any home, as an only pet or with other canine and/or feline companions. He is a lap dog through and through. Story
Looking for a sweet girl to join your family? Well, check me out, cos' I am gonna stay just a wee girl My name is Molly and I am a 4 month old Chihuahua mix, around 5 lbs. I am just a puppy so I have all the learning to do. I need you to be gentle and patient with me as I come from the streets and did not have an easy start to life. I love to play and I get along great with everyone and everything, although cats don't appreciate my game of "chase" so if you have a cat, hopefully it can recognize I am just being playful. I am doing great with my puppy pad house training and also learning to be in a crate, but you do need to encourage me as sometimes I might forget. I'm hoping you have some toys to play with and I'm hoping you like to get out and about cos' that plus love is really all I need. Check me out soon cos' I won't last. *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kennelled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*

Story
Found on the side of a Texan highway at 6 months old, Nala had a tough start to life, but after a short stretch in a foster home, she joined my family where she has been loved and cared for like nobody’s business. Nala is now 5 years old and has been with the same family since her initial adoption. She’s the SWEETEST girl & wants nothing more than to snuggle her human all day every day, but given her start in life, she can be fearful/defensive. In particular she struggles with men & young children. She doesn’t like when young dogs get in her face, & she should not live with cats. Any rehoming fee is only being collected to ensure her safety, and will be donated to the shelter I adopted her from.
