Story
First I want to say that we love Biscuit very much. She is an absolutely beautiful dog. After our Chihuahua passed from old age about two years ago, we waited a year and then traveled to Wenatchee WA to adopt Biscuit from Hands and Paws Rescue. She is 5 years old now. Our circumstance is that we lived in a four bedroom house when we adopted her, and now we live in a condo and have no yard. Biscuit has a lot of energy and she needs a yard. She needs someone very active who can wear her out daily. She loves fetch and will play fetch until she drops. We put her in training school but mom has had some health issues this year and is low energy. Dad has a very busy work schedule. We have a young kiddo whom we will need to explain this to somehow. Biscuit is good with kids but she does jump so the best kids would be ok with rough and tumble play. She needs additional training not to jump on people. She is only 12 pounds however. She does chew on things so she needs lots of chew toys.

Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has take Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Welcome Toby to CCPAL Rescue. Toby is a 6-year old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix). Toby lost his owner in death and the immediate family live on a farm with farm animals. They worry about his safety with those animals so they turned him over along with another dog for rehoming. We are happy to have Toby. He is outgoing, good on a leash, good with people including strangers. He weighs 13 pounds and is potty trained. He is learning to be crated and is a lovely dog. He will be with us while we look for his new forever home. He is neutered and will get all his vaccines all current while he awaits his new family to fall in love with his photo and video online. He is good with other dogs and would be fine with another dog or as an only dog. He is here in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washinton, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He would be fine with a moderately active family and would be a great companion for a walker. He loves to walk. He would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Mikey! Mikey is a 1-year-old, 15 lb Dachshund/Spaniel mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. He’s now looking for a very special home that can give him the time, patience, and understanding he needs to thrive. Mikey is a shy, sensitive boy who can be skittish in new situations and around new people. He is considered a flight risk, so he will need a calm, secure home committed to keeping him safe while he learns to trust and settle in. He’s looking for a quiet, predictable environment—ideally outside of the busy city—where he can decompress, build confidence, and establish a steady routine. Because of his sensitive nature, Mikey will need an adult-only home with adopters who have experience working with shy or fearful dogs. Having another well-adjusted, confident dog in the home would be a huge benefit for Mikey. He takes comfort in other dogs and would love a buddy to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. While he may be reserved at first, once Mikey forms a bond and feels safe, he shows his true colors—sweet, cuddly, and deeply loving with his people. He just needs time, patience, and a gentle approach to get there. Mikey has not been tested with cats. Mikey is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

She’s currently thriving in foster care and showing off her big personality in a tiny package! Lil Bit is happy-go-lucky, friendly, and outgoing. She’s a confident, spunky little girl who loves to play and keep things fun. She’s goofy, full of life, and always ready to be part of whatever you’re doing! She does great with other dogs and absolutely loves having playmates. We are looking for a home with another similar-sized dog—preferably a playful male—to help keep her socialized and give her a buddy to romp around with. Lil Bit enjoys getting out and doing things with her people, whether it’s walks, outings, or just tagging along on adventures. She’s continuing to work on her house training and will need a home committed to helping her stay on track. She also has a deformed foot, but it doesn’t slow her down or stop her from living life to the fullest—she doesn’t let it get in the way of having fun! Lil Bit is looking for an active, engaging home that will embrace her playful spirit, continue her training, and include her in daily life. She would do best in a home without cats.
