Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has take Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Meet Pez! 12 pounds of personality, a whole lot of love, and a Belgian Malinois trapped in a Chiweenie’s body! Hi, my name is Pez! I’m a 1 1/2 year-old Chihuahua mix weighing in at a whopping 12 pounds! I may have some daschund in there as well. That might make me a Chiweenie. I may be small, but don’t let my size fool you. I have a BIG personality, an even bigger heart, and enough charm to win over just about anyone! I absolutely LOVE people! I’m friendly with everyone I meet, and once I decide you’re my person, congratulations—you’ve just acquired yourself a permanent little shadow! I’m what they call a Velcro dog. Wherever you go, I’ll happily tag along. After all, life is better when we’re together! Now, let me tell you a little about how I ended up here because it’s quite the story! I was discovered hiding underneath an abandoned house by some sheriff’s deputies who were training their K9s. Naturally, I thought this was my big break! I was ready to join the force, chase bad guys, and become the world’s smallest police dog. Unfortunately, nobody seemed interested in recruiting a 12-pound Chihuahua. Their loss! At least I got to hang out with all the big, tough working dogs that day. Between you and me, I’m pretty sure I’m a Belgian Malinois trapped in a Chihuahua’s body! Speaking of big dogs, I LOVE them! I currently live in a foster home with multiple large dogs, and we get along wonderfully. I’m all about making doggy friends, and I would be thrilled to have a furry sibling or two in my forever home. Size doesn’t intimidate me one bit! I’m also a pretty impressive little houseguest. I’m house trained, crate trained, and walk nicely on a leash. I love going for walks, exploring new places, running errands with my humans, and riding in the car. When I see my tiny harness come out, I’m ready to roll! Adventure awaits, people! At home, I enjoy romping around the backyard and playing with my foster siblings. And TOYS! Oh my goodness, do I love toys! Balls, squeaky toys, stuffed animals—you name it, I want it. If you’re wondering whether I need my own toy basket, the answer is absolutely YES. Preferably a big one! My foster family also says I may have been a circus acrobat in a previous life. Apparently, I’m quite the agile little fellow! I’m clever, athletic, and always ready to show off my moves.
