He’s now looking for a very special home that can give him the time, patience, and understanding he needs to thrive. Mikey is a shy, sensitive boy who can be skittish in new situations and around new people. He is considered a flight risk, so he will need a calm, secure home committed to keeping him safe while he learns to trust and settle in. He’s looking for a quiet, predictable environment—ideally outside of the busy city—where he can decompress, build confidence, and establish a steady routine. Because of his sensitive nature, Mikey will need an adult-only home with adopters who have experience working with shy or fearful dogs. Having another well-adjusted, confident dog in the home would be a huge benefit for Mikey. He takes comfort in other dogs and would love a buddy to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. While he may be reserved at first, once Mikey forms a bond and feels safe, he shows his true colors—sweet, cuddly, and deeply loving with his people. She was surrendered to our rescue partners in Oklahoma when her owner was no longer able to care for her due to mental health. Honey has been in foster care since, is friendly with other dogs, potty trained and does well in her crate overnight. We can't wait to meet her! Foster Profile: meet Honey! This sweet girl is your typical teenage dog who loves to play. She’s working through some fear and sometimes needs guidance deciding if she’s excited or should be scared. She’ll benefit from a patient home and a confident resident dog to continue teaching her to be comfortable. She can be shy meeting new people but accepts pets especially when the resident dog is also getting attention. She tests the boundaries of using her voice, but is ultimately quiet and good I know her crate. She has some reservations peeing on a leash and is still working through those insecurities, she did not have a problem when fostered in OK with a yard.   Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. HE WAS FOUND WITH TWO PUPPIES UNDER A HIGHWAY BRIDGE. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. GRAVY 1½ years • Long-Haired Dapple Dachshund/Doxie Mix Stunningly handsome, sweet and cuddly — meet Gravy, part of our Breakfast Club that arrived on Monday. When he first arrived, Gravy seemed like one of the boldest of the bunch. He would come looking for pets but stay just far enough away that he couldn't be caught — something we commonly see with undersocialized dogs or dogs who haven't always been treated kindly. What a difference a safe foster home makes. He’s opening up more every day and now seeks out his foster dad for comfort and cuddles. He runs zoomies with Waffles, loves outside time in the safety of their big fenced yard and has become best friends with Wilson, a Pacific Rim Rescue alum his fosters adopted last year.
