Because of his sensitive nature, Mikey will need an adult-only home with adopters who have experience working with shy or fearful dogs. Having another well-adjusted, confident dog in the home would be a huge benefit for Mikey. He takes comfort in other dogs and would love a buddy to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. Once he knows you, he wants to be close and be part of your world. He also walks well on a leash, making him a nice little companion for leisurely strolls and exploring alongside his person. HE WAS FOUND WITH TWO PUPPIES UNDER A HIGHWAY BRIDGE. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. Rocky is an extremely affectionate six year old dog who would love to keep you company on the bed or couch while you sleep or watch TV. He will be happy with a morning and evening walk and the opportunity to play with his favorite toys. You will not need a doorbell as he will alert you with his big-dog-bark when someone comes to your door. However, once your guest has been welcomed into your home and Rocky has had an opportunity to sniff your visitor's shoes, he will happily return to his spot on the couch. He was first adopted when he was a year old and are unsure of his first year was like. For the last five years, he has lived with two retired adults who have been home most of the time, but has not displayed any negative behaviors when he has been left alone for the day. Rocky's Mom and Dad are very attached to him, but have developed some medical issues that make is difficult to provide the exercise he needs to be happy.
