Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has take Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Welcome Toby to CCPAL Rescue. Toby is a 6-year old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix). Toby lost his owner in death and the immediate family live on a farm with farm animals. They worry about his safety with those animals so they turned him over along with another dog for rehoming. We are happy to have Toby. He is outgoing, good on a leash, good with people including strangers. He weighs 13 pounds and is potty trained. He is learning to be crated and is a lovely dog. He will be with us while we look for his new forever home. He is neutered and will get all his vaccines all current while he awaits his new family to fall in love with his photo and video online. He is good with other dogs and would be fine with another dog or as an only dog. He is here in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washinton, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He would be fine with a moderately active family and would be a great companion for a walker. He loves to walk. He would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Shy little one! Meet Maria! Sweet Maria is looking for a special forever home and that just might be you! She’s an adorable 7-pound Chihuahua with a cheerful and upbeat personality. She’s sure to make you laugh and smile! While Maria is a sweetheart, it's important to note that she has a fear of being touched. Despite her gentle nature, Maria struggles with being handled and avoids physical contact. It's something that her foster family has been working on. That said, Maria has recently gone blind out of the blue, so that changes her world quite a bit. One interesting outcome is that she's a little less shy, but we will see how that play out. One of Maria's favorite pastimes is playing with other small dogs, exploring in the yard and sunbathing. When she's not busy playing, Maria chills and hangs out near her people. (She will need a home with a small-dog-proof fence). She would do well in a home with one or more friendly, playful small dogs and one that’s pretty low-key without a lot of people coming in and out. If you already have snuggly pets, Maria’s presence won’t change that. No fighting for your lap! Be a true hero and give this sweet, playful girl her forever home. Meet Brioche ("Bri"): 4-year-old chihuahua mix, healthy, spayed, microchipped Bri is a sweet, easy dog who wants to be with her people. She loves cuddles, soft cushions, and long naps. She gets very excited for walks and is highly food-motivated, so she's easy to train. We adopted her in 2023 as a rescue from Houston at around 1 year old. She has lived happily with us and another dog since. Why we're rehoming her: Bri can be protective of her cozy spots and of favored attention. She stiffens, growls, and can lunge. Our other dog always gave her space, but with a crawling baby in a small house, we can't keep everyone safe and comfortable. Her ideal home: adults and older kids only (no babies, toddlers, or young kids). Experienced small-dog owners who understand resource guarding and will respect her space are a great fit. She's affectionate, food-motivated, and easy to love when she's comfortable.
