Story
*Woof* I`m in a foster home. To meet me reach out to my foster caregiver at ktare2010@gmail.com. If you`re looking for a best friend who loves everyone he meets, Hank might be your perfect match. This sweet, gentle boy has spent time exploring the city and charms everyone wherever he goes. At home, Hank is the definition of a couch potato. He loves nothing more than curling up on a big soft couch and spending quality time with his people. He`s friendly with dogs, cats, and humans alike, making him an easy addition to many different households.Hank is a smart boy who is learning quickly. He`s making great progress with house training, has started mastering `sit,` and is eager to learn new things—especially when treats are involved! He`s also building confidence every day, including conquering stairs that once seemed intimidating.Hank is currently recovering from surgery and continuing his physical therapy, but he doesn`t let that stop his sweet spirit from shining through. Everyone who meets him falls in love with his kind personality, affectionate nature, and easygoing attitude. If you`re looking for a loving companion who will happily join you on adventures and then snuggle up beside you afterward, Hank is ready to steal your heart!

Story
Shae is a sweet young lass. She's a big more tentative around new things than her brother, Simon, but warms up quickly. She likes to sit on your lap, in fact, she'd like nothing better than to cuddle on your lap while watching TV.  Shae would like to be your new BFF. As she did not learn about sharing in school, she would do best as an only dog in the household.  Shae comes to us from a shelter in rural southwestern Virginia. Shae and her brother, Simon, as well as their father, were seized from their owner for neglect (starvation). An anonymous donor has become Shae's Guardian Angel, in memory of her wonderful Bosnian street dog, Chloe. Gender:  Female DOB: Approx. 12/1/2023 Current size; 21 pounds PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. March 12, 2026, 4:34 pm

Story
Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ISO happily ever after! BALT NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Balt          Best Guess for Breed:   Border collie and lab mix     Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of February 2026        SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:  39 lbs as of 1/14/26; might have just a bit more to grow   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:   Balt is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident fog who will show him the ropes.    Balt is Looking For:   Balt wants nothing more to trot through life with all the confidence of a well-loved family pet! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager for sniffy walks, romps, and all the adventures his new humans can dream up. To get there, he needs extra patient and loving humans who understand he is a little shy and needs to experience new environments at his pace. A welcoming resident dog will help show him to dog too!   Most of all, he wants to be safe and loved. In exchange he promises so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Is Balt the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  Balt is a very sweet boy who is learning all about the fun things that the world offers outside of the shelter. He absolutely loves toys, sleeping on the couch or the dog bed, and playing with friends. He doesn't pull on the leash but will zigzag in front of you because he just wants to sniff all the smells. He gets along great with my moody dog at home, taking her corrections perfectly when she doesn't want to play. Balt has done great with house breaking and crate training. He can be shy at first with people, but after a few minutes, he will come up to you and give you a kisses and a tail wag. So far, he has been a wonderful work from home buddy and is fast asleep on the dog bed next to my computer desk. I know this guy is eager to find his forever family and show them just how much love he has to give.      Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.cutie patootie needs a home! GRIFFIN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:       Griffin           Best Guess for Breed:      Border Collie / Hound mix   Best Guess for Age:        12 weeks as of May 24, 2026          SEX:        Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):     16 lbs. as of May 24, 2026   Gets Along With:        Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special Adoption Considerations:       Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Griffin is Looking For:        Me and my littermates, Georgie and Gunner have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me?   What My Foster Says About Me: These pups are just a couple of love bugs - he and his brother are in constant competition for who can be the cutest and cuddliest! Griffin is always up to play and wrestle his brother and have loved meeting all people. They have shown only passing interest in my cats so far. They are doing great with the crate and starting working on housetraining and Griffin has already started to pick up sit!  Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
