Story
Meet Murphy, our adorable little Border Collie Mix boy puppy who was rescued from a small town shelter where he was under weight and riddled with internal parasites.  His future was very bleak but now Murphy has been treated and is a healthy, happy little guy free of parasites and gaining weight like a puppy should.  Born around November 1st, he is approximately 10 weeks old (as of Jan 5th) and weighs 12 pounds.  He is expected to reach around 40 pounds as an adult.  He is friendly with all humans (toddlers included), dogs and cats that he has been in contact with.  Murphy is curious, playful and very loveable and is quite the talker.  Murphy seems to be the most curious of his siblings.  His foster mom believes he is mixed with many different breeds that are smart and inquisitive.  If you are interested please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP,Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Hello. I’m sad to say that my baby boy needs a new home with a loving family or couple. I received him from a friend at church and we’ve grown to love each other over a years time. But after his birthday in March 23rd, ALOT has changed in my family and personally. I’ve tried Facebook group but it’s filled with a bunch of trolls & ive tried shelters but they are all full 😔 Please help, I don’t want to just give him up to a shelter and I just wish the best for him.

Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet mama seeking her own humans! LYRA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Lyra       Best Guess for Breed: Border collie and lab mix   Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of March 2024      SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:  coming soon   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here!   Special adoption considerations: Lyra is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky!  They are part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study will be placed at random, in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, this pup will be eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  Post treatment, we will work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test 6 months after treatment concludes, followed by a second test at 9 months.   Lyra is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweetie did a terrific job raising her eight babies and now they're all off to their own homes. Lyra is in her prime and eager to once again have her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed, sure, they're on her wish list as well but you know what she wants most of all? To know where she belongs. To know she's safe and loved and under her roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, she has So. Much. love and loyal companionship to offer - adoring gazes galore - and she'll always make you smile with her happy tail wag.    What do you say? Is Lyra the companion you have been seeking?   What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic.You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.Dog's Name:   Luna  (LUN1123OWSFS)Estimated Breed:  Border Collie / Labrador Retriever MIX  Approximate Age:   6-7 yearsApproximate Weight:   45 lbsCurrently Living at:   FosterAdoption Fee:   $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Luna is a gorgeous “borador” mix (Border Collie/Labrador Retriever) who is unfortunately being owner surrendered because they don't have the time to give her enough exercise and attention that she needs. Unfortunately, Luna bonds strongly with people and is not a fan of most dogs. Though with proper introduction, she has played with other dogs. Her ideal home would be with a person or family familiar with this high energy breed mix, who can focus enough time on training and exercise. A fenced yard is a must, and NO city living. Border collies are a working breed, highly intelligent and need stimulation and direction.Luna is outgoing, curious, energetic and she would make an excellent companion for an active adopter. She loves playing fetch and going on long walks. A forever home with plenty of room to run would be ideal for this girl on the go. She is smart and well trained beyond the basic level. She knows the commands:  leave it, sit, down, stay, off, let go, go to your bed, out of the kitchen and kennel up. Luna is also house broken and kennel trained, although she has not used a kennel in some time. There are no issues when she has free roam of the house. She will alert bark when someone is outside or at the door, and she is good with kids, but she needs to control her excitement at times and may knock any little ones down. Luna loves her people and will sit or lay right next to you whenever you are and, if you allow her, she will rest her head on your lap for a good pet and belly rub. Luna is very treat focused.Luna is just a great, fun-loving lady who can’t wait for you to throw that ball! With her super friendly nature, she will make a perfect partner on all of your adventures!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
