Story
Personality: calm, trustworthy, snuggler, easygoing, and affectionate. Presenting Coco, the gentle snuggler who’s 50% ears and 50% couch potato! This easygoing gal loves to adventure outside on walks, meet new friends, or play with her beloved tennis ball, and she’s easily tackled learning to use the elevator and dealing with city noises. A real smart cookie, she's already nailed “sit” and “come here,” and she’s well on her way to mastering “down” and “stay.” She’s also making great strides with house training. Coco is trustworthy when left alone uncrated but will also sleep peacefully through the night, especially when her crate is near you. Coco will flourish in a loving home where she can be both a chill couch potato and an adventurous walking buddy. Apply today to meet Coco! ___________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Please contact Jodi Rosenberg (jodi.rosenberg@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.handsome gent seeking love! HARVEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Harvey and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (12/28) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!     Name: Harvey        Best Guess for Breed:  Lab and border collie mix Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of April 2025         SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 37 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at: DC area foster home.  Special Adoption Considerations: Because Harvey is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.   Harvey is Looking For:  His forever family! He's got all that awesome young-dog energy and is eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and exploring the world - he hasn't seen nearly enough of it. He'd love to make pup pals along the way, too. Quality kibble, cushy dog beds, peanut butter-filled Kongs - yes, please. But you know what he wants most of all? To know where he belongs, to know he's safe and loved for all his days. What do you say? Is this intriguing pup (doesn't his face just give Phantom of the Opera vibes?) the one you see by your side?   What Shelter Staff Say About Harvey: Harvey spent some time on the Dogs Playing For Life Canine Center campus in Florida. There, he received basic training and enrichment, and socialized with other dogs. Harvey worked on the Sit and Place commands there. He also worked on loose leash walking and sitting at open doors, waiting to be released to go out. He also got to play with enrichment toys such as food-filled Kongs and food puzzles. He loved participating in doggie playgroup - he's very dog social. He enjoys playing chase and wrestling - he likes playing with dogs who have a similar playstyle. What My Foster Says About Me: Harvey a very sweet boy who wants to learn, listen and please. He enjoys playing with other dogs in the dog park and finds comfort from other dogs.  He is playful at daycare.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.cutie pie looking for forever family! LINDA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Linda        Best Guess for Breed:  Cattle dog and corgi mix   Best Guess for Age:  3.5 years as of December 2025      SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:  21 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!   Special adoption considerations: Linda is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Linda is Looking For:  Her forever home! We don't know her back story but it might not have been all that awesome. Her gait is a bit off in the left hip. X-rays show old pelvic fractures that healed a bit off and now her range of motion in that leg is a bit off. Know what's not off? Her love, her loyalty, and her sense of adventure. Linda can't wait for her fresh start - can't wait to get her own family for all the adventures that well-loved family pets can get - and all those snuggles.    She has so many adoring gazes, so much loyal companionship to offer. What do you say? Is she the one you see by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent time in foster care.    Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
