Story
I brought Sophie home at 6 weeks old, and she’s been part of our family ever since. She was born February 14th and just turned 3. She’s full of energy and loves to run, jump, and play. She enjoys walks but is strong on a leash and gets excited when she sees people or other dogs. Sophie is very loving and a big cuddle bug. She’s also protective with a deep bark, making her a great alert dog. She’s never bitten anyone but does like to chew, so she’ll need toys and consistency. She can be a bit stubborn and takes patience to learn, and she’s nervous at the vet due to past experiences. With five kids, I can’t give her the time and attention she deserves. I love her deeply and just want her to have a home where she can thrive

Story
Morgan is a sweet 4-year-old pup who truly just wants to be by your side. Whether you’re relaxing at home or heading out for an adventure, she’s happiest simply being wherever you are.   She’s a joy to take out and about - Morgan walks nicely on a leash and rides calmly in the car, making her an easy companion for errands or road trips. At home, she’s been learning her routine and has started to let her people know when she needs to go out, showing great progress with her house manners.   Morgan has a gentle, easygoing personality. She gets along well with cats and seems like she would do just fine with other dogs, too. She’s comfortable in her crate but also enjoys lounging nearby - especially in the den, where she’ll quietly settle into her bed while her foster mom works.   One of Morgan’s most endearing traits is her calm nature. She’s not a barker (at least, she hasn’t been so far), and she brings a peaceful presence to any home. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion who will happily stick by your side, Morgan could be the perfect match.   Are you ready to be her forever companion? Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Akira (and Aisha!) the home they deserve! Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.   ##2666118##

Story
Their story is one of those “this is why rescue exists” moments. This mom and her puppies were found running loose in South Texas, trying to survive on their own. At one point, one of the puppies actually fell into a drain, and the Donna Fire Department had to come out and rescue him. Thankfully they were able to pull the puppy out safely, and the whole little family is now on their way to us.

Story
Brinley is a tiny little sweetheart with a big personality packed into just about 6 pounds 🐶💗. She’s playful, curious, and full of puppy charm—she loves her toys, enjoys exploring, and is always happy to be scooped up for some snuggles 🥰. Brinley gets along wonderfully with both cats and dogs, making her a great little companion in a multi-pet home 🐾✨. She’s doing well with potty training and continues to learn as she settles into her routine. This girl is very food-motivated (treats are her love language 😄🍖) and she’s just as happy playing as she is relaxing. After a good play session, she loves nothing more than curling up on the couch and watching TV right beside her people 📺💞. At night, Brinley is a great sleeper—she rests peacefully all night in her kennel inside a puppy playpen with her brother, feeling safe and cozy until morning 🌙💤. She and her siblings were found as strays alongside their mom, and were rescued thanks to the quick response of the local fire department after one of the puppies fell into a drain 🚒❤️. That moment brought them into safety and gave them the fresh start they so deserved. Sweet, gentle, and full of love, Brinley is a tiny treasure ready to bring joy and snuggles wherever she goes 💕🐾
