Although I look like a mini Beglian Malinois or Shepherd, I am the mix of my small terrier mom and possibly dachshund with my long body and short legs. I have a cute overbite which gives me a unique profile to go along with my supersonic ears. I am a typical puppy and love to play chase with my brothers and sisters. I work hard to rid your yard of sticks and leaves and look forward to finding my permanent family. What do I need from you? Sloan is still looking for her forever home! Sloan bonds deeply with her person and is incredibly sweet, loving, and affectionate with the person she trusts. She would do best in a home with a single woman where she can be the one and only pet. She is currently living with other dogs in her foster home, but she can get snappy when she has to share her foster mom’s attention. One of Sloan’s favorite parts of the day is snuggling up in bed with her foster mom, so her forever home will need to be one where she can continue that routine. Sloan is potty trained and kennel trained. She would do best in a quiet home without children. She can be nervous around new people, but she is gaining confidence every day as she learns that she is safe and loved. I’m mostly legs! I’m still growing into them! Before I came into rescue, my mama, my siblings, and I were trying to survive on our own in South Texas. Life was pretty scary, and one of my siblings even fell into a drain! Thankfully, some wonderful people, including the fire department, came to the rescue and made sure every single one of us made it out safely. Now we’re all safe, loved, and learning what it means to just be puppies. As for me, I’m having a blast! I live with dogs of all sizes and ages, and I get along with everyone. I’m also cat-approved! I love toys and think they all belong on the floor, so I make sure to pull every single one out. If nobody wants to play, that’s okay cause I’m perfectly happy entertaining myself. I’m working hard on my potty training and doing really well. I always use my puppy pads, and when I need to go outside, I’ll head right to the door to let you know. I love being outside and soaking up the sunshine with my dog friends. Sunbathing is one of my favorite activities. I’m not the clingy type, but when I get sleepy, I do enjoy curling up next to you or sitting in your lap. I know how to sit for food and treats, and everyone says I’m such a good listener. She's doing very well with her house training, although she will still steal random objects from the house and take them into the yard to chew! Summer is believed to have been born in June 2026. She and her brother came to us as strays. She weighs about 12 lbs. SUMMER'S IDEAL HOME Summer would love a home with doggy playmates who can keep up with her playful puppy energy. A secure yard to run, play, and explore would be a dream for this active little gal! Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Summer the home she deserves! Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
