While we’re not sure what she’s mixed with, whatever it is gave her a slightly bigger build than a typical dachshund—she weighs about 28 pounds and is the perfect small-to-medium size. Pinky is an easygoing, low-key girl who is just as happy lounging on a dog bed as she is soaking up the sun outside. She has a calm, content personality and doesn’t require constant activity to be satisfied. She does well with dogs of all sizes and would fit nicely into a home with other respectful canine companions. She is crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is generally very well-mannered. Pinky is fearful of small children, so she will need a home without young kids where she can feel safe and comfortable. He has developed Type II diabetes. It breaks my heart to give him shots of insulin. If he does not get the insulin, he'll wake up in the middle of the night crying for water. Once he has the water, he'll cry to be let out to urinate. I live alone and work during the day. I have to be able to sleep at night so that I can work the next day. I'm not able to do that currently with Silas.
