Story
Meet Pretzel, a uniquely handsome dachshund mix with personality, charm, and a touch of mischief! At 3 years old and 18 pounds, he’s a fun-sized companion with a big heart. He’s sweet, friendly, and enjoys meeting new people, cuddling on the couch, and joining in on playtime. His goofy nature makes him a joy to have around.Pretzel is also a clever little escape artist who enjoys digging, so he’ll need a secure yard and supervision during outdoor time. He does well in our shelter environment and thrives when he has attention, enrichment, and routine.Pretzel was previously returned due to behavioral challenges, so he’s looking for an adult-only home with an experienced owner who can provide structure, training, and consistency. He does best with confident leadership and clear boundaries. In the right home, Pretzel will be a loyal and entertaining companion.Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Saturday and Sundays have walk-in hours from noon to 4 PM. Story
I got Nismo when he was just a few weeks old in 2013. He is almost 13 years old now. He has travelled all over the country with me. He LOVES car rides. He is very smart and is so loving. He will get incredibly attached to you and follow you every step you take. While he does get a long with other pets (he has lived with 3 other dogs and multiple cats over the years, he is more fond of cats) he has primarily been a single pet and tends to stay to himself. While hes very smart, hes also quite stubborn as most dachshunds tend to be. The perfect home for him would be one where his new owner can give him the attention and love he needs with some patience. Ideally no kids, as he has some slight protective tendencies primarily with his food. He loves to play rough, but he knows when to cool down. He is such a great loving dog but unfortunately with life getting in the way I am unable to care for him the way I think he needs and deserves. He will need some dental work - I am able to help.

Story
Dia is a precious little puppy that was brooght in with his Mom, Dulche.  They were living on the streets and we heard about them and brought them up to Dallas.  Dia is playful, and a typical puppy.  She loves to  be held and loves her lititle bed.  We think she is 8 to 9 weeks old and  has had his first round of shots.  His Mom, Dulche looks  like a full bloodied Dachshund (see picture).  She is learning what toys are and so cute to watch her play.  She is brown with a black face. She is good with other dogs but lots of puppy energy.  She is getting very good with potty training.  She is sleeping through the night (though we keep her door open to her room so we can hear her if she cries.  She is super smart as well and takes long naps during the day.. ##2657879##

Story
Lily is a very happy, sweet and friendly senior short-haired Dachshund who is a total love bug. She came to Cody's when her owner died, leaving Lily and her 3 Dachshund sisters behind. Lilly is now in a loving foster home with her sister, Hannah. Lily is the outgoing, wiggly greeter of the pair! She lights up when she sees her people and happily asks to be picked up for cuddles. She is extremely people-oriented and forms attachments quickly. She enjoys walks, is curious about the world around her, and has a playful streak (bird-watching can quickly turn into bird-chasing!). Lily prefers to potty outside and does very well in the backyard. She does not bark excessively outdoors and comes back inside nicely. Because Lily bonds so strongly with her people, she would especially thrive in a home where someone works from home or is around much of the day. That said, she can adjust to other routines with patience and consistency. One important note: Lily does not do well being confined or closed off alone, as that can trigger anxiety for her. She feels safest when she has access to her people and a predictable routine. Lily is bonded with her sister, Hannah, and clearly finds comfort in her presence. At the same time, she is very human-focused and capable of forming strong attachments on her own. We believe she could adjust either alongside Hannah or as the only dog in a home that can provide reassurance, companionship, and stability. If you’re looking for an affectionate, devoted little shadow who will adore being part of your daily life, Lily is ready to love you wholeheartedly. ##2658759##

Story
Hannah is a 9-year-old long-haired Miniature Dachshund who came to Cody's Friends Rescue after her owner died, leaving 4 beautiful Dachshunds behind. Hannah is now in a foster home with one of them, Lily.  We would decribe Hannah as gentle & devoted! Hannah is a soft-hearted, sensitive little girl with the kindest eyes. She may take a little time to warm up, but once she feels safe, her loyalty and sweetness truly shine. She prefers to stay where she can see her people and will quietly follow you from room to room. Hannah isn’t demanding — she simply enjoys being nearby. She can be startled by loud or sudden noises and would do best in a calm, patient home that will give her the time she needs to build confidence. The beautiful thing about Hannah is that once she trusts you, she relaxes deeply and settles well. She sleeps through the night and has been adjusting steadily in her foster home. Hannah will use pee pads indoors and also does well going potty in the backyard. She is respectful outside — no excessive barking and she responds nicely when it’s time to come back in. Hannah shares a close and comforting bond with her sister, Lily. They often sleep side by side and look to each other for reassurance. However, Hannah has shown that she is capable of building secure attachments with her humans as well. With a patient and loving home, she could likely adjust either with Lily or on her own. If you’re looking for a quiet, loyal companion who bonds deeply and loves in a gentle way, Hannah may be your perfect match. ##2658742##
