How cute is a dachshund mix puppy? So cute! How energetic is a dachshund mix puppy? Very!!! Summer is a sweet whirlwind who loves to play with humans and other dogs. She's doing very well with her house training, although she will still steal random objects from the house and take them into the yard to chew! Summer is believed to have been born in June 2026. She and her brother came to us as strays. She weighs about 12 lbs. SUMMER'S IDEAL HOME Summer would love a home with doggy playmates who can keep up with her playful puppy energy. A secure yard to run, play, and explore would be a dream for this active little gal! Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Summer the home she deserves! Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##2824994##

Franklin is a Dachshund/Terrier mix that’s about 3 years old and weighs 24lbs. He was found living on the streets as a stray and is learning quickly how great it is to live in a house! Franklin is good with other dogs, but he`s a bit wary of humans at first. He warms up to women right away, but takes his time getting to know men. Once he trusts you though, you`ve got a friend for life. Howdy, I am Callum! Fully big boy potty trained ✔️ Sleeps through the night in his crate✔️ Learning the kids are pretty cool and no longer barks at them for coming down stairs✔️ He is 17 pounds and 7months old! He is all the pupoy fun with none if the puppy hassle! He would do great in a home with other dogs or as the only royal chi to soak up all the love. He wants a chill home with a comfy lap to snuggle! I’m mostly legs! I’m still growing into them! Before I came into rescue, my mama, my siblings, and I were trying to survive on our own in South Texas. Life was pretty scary, and one of my siblings even fell into a drain! Thankfully, some wonderful people, including the fire department, came to the rescue and made sure every single one of us made it out safely. Now we’re all safe, loved, and learning what it means to just be puppies. As for me, I’m having a blast! I live with dogs of all sizes and ages, and I get along with everyone. I’m also cat-approved! I love toys and think they all belong on the floor, so I make sure to pull every single one out. If nobody wants to play, that’s okay cause I’m perfectly happy entertaining myself. I’m working hard on my potty training and doing really well. I always use my puppy pads, and when I need to go outside, I’ll head right to the door to let you know. I love being outside and soaking up the sunshine with my dog friends. Sunbathing is one of my favorite activities. I’m not the clingy type, but when I get sleepy, I do enjoy curling up next to you or sitting in your lap. I know how to sit for food and treats, and everyone says I’m such a good listener. These boys are father (Louis, 5) and son (JJ, 3). They have a very close bond with each other. These boys are the absolute sweetest dogs you could ever imagine. Their original owner fell into the grips of addiction and was no longer able to care for them properly. She ended up homeless and on the streets with them and things got to a point where she could not feed them or care for them properly. Their last owner surrendered them to me and with the gracious help of a boarding facility, they have been vaccinated, well fed, and cared for ever since. Although being in a boarding facility is an improvement from their last situation, they deserve a loving home. They are potty trained, leash trained, fun to play with, they love to cuddle, and they desperately want to be somebody’s family members. Although they have been through hard times, you wouldn’t know it based on their personalities. They are outstandingly well behaved and aim to please. These boys are amazing! I will pay to neuter both
